It is indeed legal:

Quote: "In the United Kingdom under the Mobile Telephones (Re-programming) Act 2002, changing the IMEI of the phone is illegal. However, the IMEI is not changed during any unlocking process."

EDIT: Of course, you are breaching contract with the original network provider. This isn't illegal per-se, but it will possibly have some nasty effects (void warranty, no support etc.)

This is more to Sage than anything, but it is _not_ illegal in the UK. The only thing that is remotely 'dodgy' is the contract termination of the original network provider. By law, this process is _not_ illegal.

OMG LOL YESR FSTR AND SOUND COOL ROFL.

Seriously, this may not be illegal, but it looks like its bending the rules, which usually leads to some illegal activity. Do what you wish, but try and stay legitimate. Cheers

And what is a "Queeny"?

Probably some odd insult? It seems to make the person who said it more retarded than who he is insulting though xD

most newer phones require you to short circuit part of the female connection plug at the bottom with a specific device, most chinese phone shops in australia have the device that does it.
this forum however is hardly the place to ask.

No it is not okay and it is a bad example of internet etiquette.
It is rude and impolite your your fellow forum members.
You are not text messaging.
If you can spell and just choose not to spell the whole word out of laziness that is a sign of disrespect to the rest of us.
Also,it lacks professionalism and your fellow forum members will probably treat you accordingly.

all recent phones are unlocked, handy when you have 2-3 sims

any mobile phone shop will unlock it for you, since you have a fairly common phone, they will do it there and then.

It's not illegal to do this, but it does void the phone warrenty unless you get it unlocked by your service provider.

Personally I don't see anything wrong with wanting a phone unlocked. I mean if you upgrade your handset to another PAYT or Contract then you should be allowed to swap out sim cards from other networks without problems imo.

I know that it stops theives selling them on, but honestly if a phone is possible to be unlocked they'll always find a way to do it anyway. So realistically all this does is handicap legitimate users who want to swap sims.

There have been a number of occassions when my mates batteries have died and they've needed to call someone but not have their charger with them, so we'll swap sim cards. Most of them are on the same network as me so it isn't an issue but 2 of them are on O2, which means we can't swap sims to make calls off of a phone with battery left. Well anyways that site should help you in your unlock quest.

And maybe if you go to school, your grammatical skills will improve! ZING!

I suggest you now run off to your pregnant 13 year old girlfriend (a little old for you isn't she?) and get drunk. It'll make you feel better.

For those who wonder what I'm on about, I was making reference to the chav page on urbandictionary.com.

@CommodoreKid - I deleted your unapproved posts because they were just trying to incite flames.

@Everyone else - Seriously there's no point in "egging" someone on like that.
