Simply Put, Dark BASIC is a variant of the BASIC (Beginners All Purpose Symbolic Instruction Code) Programming language. There are MANY different versions of the BASIC Language, including:

Dark BASIC, Blitz BASIC, Wang Basic, Pure Basic.

And believe me, there are quite a few variants of basic. So, the difference can best be described as comparing C# to C. The C programming language has variants as well, C# being microsoft's version of C. Hope that helps.

In a nutshell...

Dark Basic has enhancements and additions to the BASIC language command set which allow easy programming access to Microsoft DirectX - making the writing of 3D games easier than it has ever been before.
