I have a Stargate

I didn't make it, but I ported it to FPSC and made some animation and other gizmos for it. I'm curious, can we see screens of your game?

Here is a screen, its not complete yet, missing a couple of details and a stargate.

You can go to 5 different planets in the game.
I won't tell you more. But i am done with the basic places just need to add small details like a PC here and there, a Life and ammo

I don't think he meant to show an empty spot where the stargate would go. Obviously he wants to see if you've put some work into this before asking for something free. Reasonably, people don't mind helping someone who is trying and putting work and effort into their game, but no one wants to give away something they worked on if it's going to waist.

I may be wrong, but knowing Airslide, I'm betting you'll have to show more.

I'm sorry, my answers are limited. You must ask the right question.

I would also like to see some pics of the planets, if that's not too much of a problem

EDIT: Keep in mind that you may have to wait for it, the stargate needs to be modified a bit for use in the base (I'm doing that for my project now) with various objects that are connected to it and what not...and also, I spent a good week and then some off and on time getting the Stargate to look and work good in FPSC, so I'm not sure I'm going to give it to you when I still haven't finished my game that is using it.

Slazor- u could at least use custom guns or the guns in the sci-fi folder, after all you are making a sci-fi game, not a mix of WW2 and modern day.

The rooms are OK though(nice briefing room). Whats with the statue though?

To be honest. That doesn't exactly look like stargate. A few of those pics are just empty rooms. You could have made those pics in twenty minutes just so you can get a stargate.

I did read your posts. And if you did all the big details you would have made a screeny of them. Not just empty rooms.

(I'm being mean because I have a hang over) {Sorry mods. probably not supposed to say that. Just being honest.}

I love fan based games... I sure would like to see more of them... Im still waiting on Gerry Anderson and his associates to write me back and approve me to use his character's faces before I get the models done for my Tera Alpha game...

But I do love stargate especially the original... Spent many nights falling asleep to it... I would love to jump on a stargate map myself but I didnt want to step on any toes because I know that Airslide already had this one well taken care of....

Then there is also several starwars media around here I am kinda shocked we havent seen a starwars game yet...

Mod's whats your rulling on building fan based games and showing them off on this forum? And also offering media for games in this area? I may even consider dumping some of my tera alpha models I didnt used when I built my game...

You know, I'm kind of suspicious as to if he truly has an 'almost finished' game considering the first pic of the gate room had some stuff in it and the other was pretty much blank...

It looks like a bunch of stock media thrown together inside of a bunch of rooms. This is not an almost finished game. Check out Butter's Fall of the Fireflies. Now that's an almost finished game (give or take some). You have to put more work into this. Use your own media and models. I would never use stock fpsc stuff in one of my games. It just doesn't look all that good.

I poured Spot remover on my dog. Now he's gone.

Except the model packs. But those don't really count so much as STOCK media.

One of the reasons I bought FPSC was because of the stock media... I can't model and it gave me a something solid to work with... I had been using Torque to make a FPS and unless I wanted my game to look rubbish I needed to get some media for it as I couldn't make my own... the things I wanted for my game came to about $200... so I didn't get anything and just had cubes shooting cubes out of a cube killing other cubes...

With FPSC I paid $50... It came with media so I didn't need to buy any... but the model packs are so cheap for what you get that I got them too...

Compared to anything I could make it looks fantastic...

Well if ALL the maps truly are nearly completed, you would have an almost finished game (excluding polishing details and the menu and so on)

Honestly, the fact that you don't really seem to be finished with the game (and you're reluctant to show evidence for one reason or another) along with the fact I haven't even finished the first episode of my Stargate Tribute Game 'series' is leaning me towards not sending it to you. I was considering it at first, but I had imagined you might have had more custom media and more to show.

Poof look what I made...

Bottom level is from pack 5...
Top level is standard wall - texture was reworked from pack 5
Ceiling is from pack 5
cement blocks are from sinstar's gravematter but texture is mine....
I am getting to love the simplicity of sketchup and a good texture from my photoshop
Be nice to find the glyphs for the gate and figure out how to make the chevrons that may take me a weeeeee bit more time then I am willing to put into....
And animating this thing gees now I know I am over my head at this point...

Thanks Tyrano but I already got my Tera Alpha game im still tweeking and polishing up as we speak and I also got my Klan Warfare game I may work out some new changes from what I've used for the nvidia competition and I just bought Game Maker and was going to dabble with that for a little bit and see if I can make a few 2d games and see if I can get them to work with FPSC with a trigger zone... hopefully the idea is to have some arcade models in fpsc that have a trigger zone to activate the 2d game make it feel like your playing a video game within a videogame.... I havent done this before and I don't know if it is even possible but thats the ideas kicking around in my head right now....

If I was to get on a stargate map its going to be a while before I am there... But the idea is certianly a tasty idea... I loved that show...

Now there is an idea an arcade model of a stargate game that you can play in 2d....and the stle of the game would be like the old mario bros but with the stargate characters in it... be a nice addition maybe
---------------------------EDIT-----------------------------------
Gees Ive been making to many multiplayer maps.... After going back to the manual looks like my concept of a zone and what FPSC is capable of doing are oppisites of what I was thinking... I am going to look for other ways to see if I can accomplish this but it certianly does not look to promising....

@slazor:np

@CLiPs: there is an actuall program out there that does that arcade thingy you were tlking about. it leads to different exes; or even folders so that you can stay in the arcade; while playing all you games, even ones youv'e made. It also comes with like 20 arcade machine models.

sorry iv'e seen it and i know it's still out there but i can't remember what it's called.
