Just got pointed to the trailer of the transformers movie. I have to confess, I think it looks pretty good. Serious sci-fi stuff. What do you think? Can't get a vibe of the acting or storyline from the trailer, but the special effects and action looks like it's be sweet. I especially like the desert rats getting chopped up (supposedly) by the nasty looking bladed choppy deathy slicey slicey roboto!

It did look cool, but it's still too early for a good trailer. I thought the shorter one of the transformer on Mars looked cooler. I loved how rusty and beat up the robot looked.

Come see the WIP!

Yea, I thought it was crappy really, it showed nothing really, bar robots sneaking up behind people, and even then you never saw them too well

They just came to party with us, that's all.

Like most space aliens, they intercepted our old tv shows. And in this case, they're about 20 years behind in our culture. So they've all learned to break dance with the rest of 80s.

Ahh well. It's all subjective. That sort of trailer works pretty well for me. I liked it. Someone mentioned on YouTube it's crap because it doesnt have a sound track, but that's what makes it good for me. At the moment it looks quite dark and sinister, and not cartoon cheese.

I'm looking at it as a film that takes the ideas/concepts from Transformers, but doesnt try to religiously follow it. Personally, that's what I want to see. Transformers was great when I was 6, but I'm not 6 anymore. I dont want to see the transformers remade with respect to the original, because I am an adult with adult tastes.

I hope to see an 18 certificate with decapitations and people ripped to pieces by craven robots with massive tank track sized belt driven chainsaws. Optimis Prime and his puny energy axe can burn in hell.

@Cash - Where did you see that Mars vid?

That honestly would help bolster the Transformers name. I'd so pay to see a seriously violent transformers flick.

Looks good except for "Directed by Michael Bay". Not going to see it now I can't stand his movies frankly.

For me the essence of the Transformers is the 'cheesy' factor, it's just not 'Transformers' with the darker style to it. I'll still probably see it though. I always do. =/

On another topic, anyone see the Fantastic Four 2 trailer? Looks 'meh' to me.

Totally agree with you there. I've always been a huge fan of Transformers and still am, but I'd like to see it pushed in new and more adult directions too. Looks awesome to me.

I will go watch it at the movies, the transformer animations look a lot more complex then the original box shaped cartoon variant. If they lose the characters face in the CGI however I wont have an affinity with the characters i know and loved.

Well... concept art that's been released on the web will disappoint you then.
