Sorry for a nooby question and asking if a program exists,

but is there any 3d modelling program that supports frame by frame animation? so for example: You move a part of the model, next frame, move it some more, next frame and so on.

I know this topic WILL get locked soon but I would like to learn how to animate.

JM

P.S: BTW COMMING UP LATER TODAY: My own breaking planks.

Johannes, you use keyframing, for example, set one frame then advance twenty frames and set another, the software will work out all the frames in between for you.
best rolfy.

thing is, with vertex animation, the mesh might not deform/move how you want, then you'll have to add more key frames between (from rolfy) frames 0 and 20 to get it to look right.

yer, if you want you can use just every frame as a keyframe. It sounds a bit pointless to me; but if you feel that it's right for you, just go ahead.

If you look at the guide I made about animating a weapon in Milkshape it might give you some ideas about how to animate.

As far as I know the trial version works the same as the full version.
It is just that the trial expires after 30 days.
Milkshape does cost $25 or so for the full version.
Just the amount of files you can convert with it makes it worth the cash.

man if only maya 7 ple supported exporting...
Maya is amazing at least in terms of a gui and it is really deep. I would recomend the ple edition for learning to animate it is really easy, but you cant use it in a game or anything else sorry. IN your situation i would say buy milkshape, it might put a damper in your wallet for a while but its worth it. And your anim8or stuff can go right in.
