Is there a freebie 2D or 3D program that lets you get down to the level of working with individual pixels like the icon creation programs do? I need graphics with exact numbers of pixels in each line.

Well, MS paint always works for 2d programs, just zoom in really close. For 3d you can't really zoom in for the pixels, that's more of the texture, which can be edited like paint, as said before.

There are many 3d modelers out there, everything from free stuff like wings3d, to the expensive gameSpace. You really just have to try stuff and see what you like.

Have you tried the Gimp?

Quit planning to make a game and make a game.

Thanks. I didn't realize M/S Paint would zoom in so close. Now I just need to find a way to draw diagonal lines that look good on a DB screen (my first attempt looked ragged).

I use a really good free version of paint that uses .NET

Its called Paint.NET - http://www.getpaint.net/

It uses that anti-anais or whatever so the line would look smooth

Its kinda like a free version of Photoshop or Paintshop Pro... It has some great features

Umm, any paint program will let you draw 1 pixel at a time.

Paint Net is very good, and easy to learn and use.

Paintshop Pro is pretty good, (I use Photoshop, which is much better, IMO), but Paintshop Pro offers a fully functional free trial, and it's fairly cheap (relatively speaking). It does a lot more than Paint, in any case.
