HI,

I recently decided to get into a bit of 3D development (I have been programming in Visual Basic for app 5 years) the 2D forms of regular windows applications is just getting boring.

I was wondering if DarkBasic is a good environment for 3D development that is not necessarily Games....

Can it access stored data (if yes in what formats dat, txt, database)?
Can it be used to create web applications?

Thanks
David

I've done a SQL plug-in, which, whilst is mainly for use in DBPro, it can be used for DB 'Classic'. You will need DarKMatter for it too.

DB should be able to cope with non-3D games well.

Good news everyone! I really am THAT good...

Yes, you can access data. It's just not as easy as standard programming.

You have a whole host of functions that allow you to read and write data in single bytes, through to delimited strings.

Databases - not really, although you can write your own dlls and use them to retrieve data. If you've got VB experience, you can probably apply this knowledge.

You can also read and write arrays to files, which allows for more organisation of data.

Thanks in advance.
All the Best,
