are there any free world generators that will actually let me save a world? it would make my game making a lot easier

Sure. Some of these are actually free model software, but hey, they work about the same. There's Deled, Wings 3D, Blender, 3D Map Editor, and Levelmaker 3D, to name a few.

question.... how do i change the .map files to .x files for 3D Map Editor?

there should be an export option in "file->export", where it will let you export it as a .x. If not, I don't know because I've never used that program .

if there's not an export, try Googling a plugin for 3D Map Editor. It's amazing what's out there...
