My girlfriend and I were up late last night watching movies, and as a result, neither of us could fall asleep, and we started flipping through the stations. On one of the Showtime or Encore stations there was a movie on called "Amazon Women on the Moon," and I figured it was going to be one of those corny late night "adult" movies that are funnier than they are sexy. Boy was I wrong! My girlfriend put it on, and I don't think I ever laughed harder or louder at a motion picture. It's a camp-ish movie, made up of a series of skits that pick on old movies, TV shows, and late-night commercials from the 1940's through the 1980's, and it was easily one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long, long time. It starred a number of celebrities, including Phil Hartman, Patricia Arquette, Michelle Pfiefer (sp?), Joe Pantaliano (from The Matrix and The Sopranos) Arsenio Hall, a young David Alan Grier, B.B. King, Rip Taylor, that hairdresser guy from Six Feet Under, Carrie Fisher, and the list goes on and on. It was hilarious... for instance, these astronauts are exploring the moon, and they all pop off their helmets and say "look! The moon has breathable oxygen!" It's hilarious, especially because old serial movies from the 1940's and 50's were notorious for stuff like that, like the moon has blue, cloudy skies and giant claymation lizards and whatnot.

If you haven't seen this movie, find it and watch it. I'm totally going to hunt this movie down on DVD (if it was ever released on DVD that is) and I'll buy the crap out of it! If it isn't a cult classic, I'm going to do everything I can to make it one, lol. May as well start with my friends at TGC. Go watch this movie!

I have this movie, bought it in Sweden 6? years ago.

Yeah pretty funny stuff in there. Recommend it.

Edit: I was especially amazed over the incredible effects on the spaceship travel scene.

Awesome, this is getting bought tomorrow Thanks for the link Jess, for whatever reason I didn't even think to look on Amazon, I just assumed it wouldn't have made it to DVD, but I guess they're putting everything on DVD nowadays, hehe. Classic film, it reminds me a lot of the Kentuky Fried Movie.

I know, lol "Amazon Women on the Moon" available at... Amazon

Glad to be of service Bang Bang... this movie is a gem, I'm super glad I found it. The adult video sequence with the pornographic movie that comes to life is probably one of my favorite scenes in this movie, hehe. If any of you have encore, it'll be on at 6am-ish EST on Encore tomorrow morning. This movie isn't getting the respect it deserves

Never heard of it, but I love these spoofs. I suppose no one has seen the Enid Blyton spoof with Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders in their really early years, good stuff, makes out all of the 'good guys' to be racist people, who stand up for bad things, has some nasty mockery on Americans, although intended to be funny and not racist. I wish I could remember the title as it was a good bit of comedy.

Wow, that's funny... I didn't scroll down until just then. Remember how I suggested "This is sort of like the Kentuky Fried Movie?" Amazon lists that as a suggestion. Doh!

Apparently the working title for the film was 'Kentucky Fried Sequel'.

I had no idea. They're a lot alike but they're different in a series of ways. I should buy both now... I thought I had the Kentuky Fried Movie but it's lost in an attic full of junk now
