:-s Here is an example for comparison. Can you see what I am overlooking? Part 1 is the example code form the cdc-rom[used here only for comparison], part 2 is the code that I have rewritten. Pt.1 compiles and runs fine, ofcorse. Part two compiles and prints everything in the same spot. What have I missed?

i noticed one problem

at the top of your function it says
function getdate$(formats$)

then in the code it says

if format$ .....

change format$ so they are the same, it works fine when you do that

well thank you for the check up.
This time I used darkedit to create the next one? Still part one will compile and gets a runtime error at the loop statement. Part two works fine. I thought using the nice color coded compiler would help but I have looked and stared at the two and I am sure it is just another small mistake but where is it?

Don't think it's the loop statement, think it's the line before. You've spelt your height variable wrong (heigth), this will default to zero, and probably crash the attempt to change the screen resolution.

Thanks in advance.
All the Best,
