Great newsletter guys! Just as good as the Rich only ones, so I think Bat will be able to handle his job well! Downloading the X10 video right now. DarkShader sounds really cool, I may buy it and use it to try and teach myself shader scripting and easily see results and all.

Great newsletter! Good work Steve

The price on DarkShader is MUCH lower than I expected. In fact, I expected it to be double that!

Yeah Steve did a great job It was a joint issue, various articles in there were mine, some his, and some Ricks - and it all came together nicely. Next issue is the big 5-0 and there are some great things planned!

Also on that note, why do I have lots of keys with no product label over them? Do they go with the one listed above it?

Same here... I have 1 labelled eXtends, then 3 others with no label - only 1 of them matches the key I have noted down for DBP...

Sure keys for things like trial versions of DBPro or Advanced Terrain etc will appear too. And some people do just have more than one key for some plugins.

Just wondering, is it actually possible to use shaders produced with DS outside of DBP - as in, with another 3d engine or whatever? (assuming it supports HLSL)

Or is it deliberately restrictive toward DBP? Since I have no knowledge about shaders what-so-ever, so I reckon DS would be a good intro to the world of shaders, coupled with my current (non-DBP/GDK) project.

Possible without DBP/GDK?

I'm not on top of the whole DBP shader scene, but I know a little. Like how certain "normal" shaders wont run in DBP because of certain things that DBP expects.

So, I would assume that if you make a shader in DS, then you could export it and it would be 100% HLSL with those certain things that are forcibly included to make it compatible with DBPs needs.

At any rate, if you're going to use it to just make Shaders in general, you're probably better off nabbing ATI's, or NVidea's Shader Tools.
