Just wanted to tell everyone about our new site www.greatgamesexperiment.com. It's still in beta but I've got some invites for everyone in the Game Creators forums, just go to the site and use the promo code GameCreatorsGGE. The site is basically a way for gamers to connect with other gamers and developers, as well as find new games. Developers can post their games they've made or are working on and find a fan base. We're also running a competition with tons of prizes. This next round we're giving away a Nintendo Wii and a $250 gift certificate to Newegg.com and a whole lot of other great swag.

Sorry mate, this has been posted...tut...tut, newcomers eh?

Just playing with you:

Glad TGC users can now just sign up, instead of using their Torque using companions. It's a good contest, I've entered a couple already, so I'm totalling bagging that Wii, because I'm too cheap to buy one

And of course, I'm sure other signed up members will agree, the great games experiment is a good site and a good idea.

Wow, all that competition is is a Popularity contest...

And, given that the site isn't only for Indi developers, how in the world are we ever meant to compete with those big-boys out there, eh?

... Oh well, back to the drawing board.

I agree with JessT, the compos are pretty stupid, IMO all compos should be about user skill, and the ones there seems to promote the opposite.

Just wanted to let you guys know that its not all a popularity contest. The site is really geared towards developers and gamers connecting. It gives people the opportunity to get in touch with developers and start working on projects together or just talking with developers that worked on your favorite games. It's also a great way for independent developers to get their games out in front of gamers. I've really found so many games on the site that I would never have found otherwise.

As for the contest, some of them are based on popularity, but popularity isn't just calculated by how many friends you have. If someone requests to be friends and gets denied they lose points, so its not based at all on "friend whoring". Some of the other categories include: best game page from a developer, highest rated game from a developer, best looking profile, best game review, and most active members on GGE. Take another look and if you still don't see the value in having this tool at your dispense as a developer then I suppose thats really your loss.

Which is why I am surprised that our computer at 6th form don't block it, the admin has blocked all game site, sex sites and myspace like sites, most of it goes on the title of the website
