HI,

If anyone who has worked or is working in the industry for any company, such as EA games, or whatever, know how a school group can tour a company such as that, and what we'd need or whatever?

Thanks,

Drew

It's unlikely. Everyone would have to sign NDAs, I just don't know if they would trust a bunch of school children.

"Ooh is that White Council?"

Whoops...

Phone them up and see. I've never seen a bunch of school kids come in on a field trip, but the employees are allowed to give tours to their friends and family whenever they want (as long as we don't go into the development areas that is).

Okay, who would I need to speak with once I call the nearest EA games place? A manager or something?

Thanks,

Drew

Well, just ask the receptionist if they give tours. Odds are they won't--- but you can always try. If you know someone who works at the nearest game company, then they can probably swing a personal tour. Probably not for an entire class, but who knows.

Okay thanks, and it's not an entire class, like less that 10 people. It's a small school tech club.

Chris K,
It's easy enough for the employers to say "Hey, school kids are going to be here for half an hour, close down whatever you're working on and show them a pre-rendered video of something from last year"

SSS,
Don't be intimidated, but expect to be turned down.
If you're lucky and you do get a tour, make sure you have a teacher (or parents, etc) that can escort you around, and try to organize some set structure to the tour with whoever you organize it with, that way when you get there, you and the company know exactly what you're going to and meant to be doing.

Jess.
