The history of DMA Design, creators of Bloody Money (my fave) and Lemmings. An interesting read to see how it all began and what was involved. Like the excitement of Dave Jones when he discovered the blitter object. More than 4 animations on a screen? Amazing!
For you old Amiga fans, it's worth a read.

And a very nostalgic error message which replaces this website's standard 404 page.

If you're wondering whats with all the Amiga crap, its because I may have just lost my Amiga 500 and a box of games. The lady who lives above my dad's condo left town and shut her heat off. Well, her pipes froze and exploded and so my dad got home knee-deep in freezing water. Even his garage is flooded. When my brother called me to tell me what happened I called my dad. He was so mad/depressed I didn't really wanna bring up the condition the Amiga might be in (he had the Amiga).

On top of that, WinUAE doesn't seem to like my kickstart rom anymore so I can't even play my favorite games to soothe my nostalgia. I think I'll just go buy an Amiga1000 or something. I'd really like to get an Amiga-one so I could put that new fancy OS on it.

Yeah, my parents gave all my old computers (Atari ST, 2 spectrums, hundreds of games) to charity without asking me when they moved to Cyprus. Annoyingly I owned a house at the time with plenty of room, so not exactly a problem for me. And now I live in... Cyprus! Damn it... A friend of mine told me the computers all sold the same day (this is in the middle of nowhere) and priced at around £25 (with all games). Bloody parents...

So basically I know your anguish.

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

I suggest an XBox, you can get winuae for that, and plug it into a TV, use the controller, it's actually quite a neat machine for emulating once it's chipped.

DMA was always a great developer, Lemmings just consumed my whole families evenings for like 3 months, until we got to an impossible level (well impossible for us). They always preferred the Amiga, which is fine, I had an Atari so was used to neglect. Pah, at least we had Dungeon Master on 512k machines .

ahhh dungeon master, was that the cartoon-looking game? Or am I thinking of dragon slayer?

I got bored so I made a Psygnosis wallpaper. I found a font that was nearly indentical except for a few extreme lines I had to add. With so many differently colored images online I wasn't sure what exactly the original colors were.

I made a 1600x1200 version if anyone really cared.

Could WinUAE read my original Amiga floppies on windows?

DMA was supposed to be sold to Infogrames if I remember correctly, but they were sold to Take 2 instead and then changed their internal studio name to Rockstar, which is where we are today. The original GTA had four creators; Sam Houser, Dan Houser and Leslie Benzies are still with Rockstar, and David Jones left to create Real Time Worlds in 2002. I'm not sure about Leslie Benzies though, he may have left with David Jones. I dunno, check the credits of SA lol.

I think they're all from the UK, I'm not sure where though, maybe Scotland, maybe England, not sure. I know they all live in NYC now, or at least the guys who stayed with Rockstar do, but I'm pretty sure they're all from the UK.

It's kinda like when you see pictures of Mickey Rourke these days compared to before he decided boxing was a good career move.

Isn't there a level in Lemmings called 'Davey Jones Locker'? - pretty sure there is . Now what would be really cool is if the next GTA games had decent videogames in it - like old DMA classics. We've had this in the past, Animal Crossing for the GameCube had NES games that you could collect and play - and Shen Mui on the Dreamcast had admirable versions of SEGA arcade consoles. Sandbox gamers have always been kinda accepted but ignored with GTA games, I'd love to see better mini-games, some in-game emulation of old classics would suit me fine.

San Andreas did have a few nice retro arcade games.

Like that Bee one which was kind of distracting...

Trouble is GTA actually has a pretty well defined world, so you couldn't just slap in an actual game from our world...
There should be remakes that have been given the GTA treatment. A platformer where you are a Spanish electrician who wears a blue cap.

Blood Money has "Davey Jones Locker" as a shop where you buy gear. I just always assumed it was about the old pirate idiom. I was amused when I found out the programmer's name.
