Today I got the news that I had failed my music prelim (like a pre-exam for those who don't know). To me, music is really important, and finding out that I had failed told me that I had been too distracted by other things, mainly programming. I have decided I will take a good break from programming, and concentrate more on school, especially music. I may check the forums every now and again, but I will probably not start any thread, and definetally wont start/continue any projects till May/June, when my exams finish.

I will not be gone totally during this time, but don't expect much activity from me.

Later

good luck with your work mate - sounds like a sensible choice... although remember that everyone needs a break every now and again. It can often lead to higher productivity to give your brain a rest from work.

Yeah, I agree with Nicholas. Breaks are a necessary part of being productive.

Lucky for me programming is part of school. When I take a break its only from a specific language, not all of them. I think I'd go nuts if I had to go a week without writing at least something.

So how do you not make it in music? Was it on music theory or something? 'Cause that stuff can be tough.

Yeah I'm fine in other areas, but I've just been so distracted that I have forgotten so many musical concepts (or more like find it difficult to spot while listening to a piece of music).

Yeah I'm doing higher, and I already know everything we're being taught + I know everything in Advanced Higher Programming, so these next two years are going to be (hopefully) very easy

Well atleast I've finished my composition (mostly, still got bass and chords - and alot of them are already in the tune).

Here is the first page for those who want to see:

Remember, computing it more lucrative than music. Burn the instruments, sleep with the computer.

Phaelax, it was actually written on guitar, but all the sounds in the program I used sucked. Strings just sounded kinda cool heh..

@Everyone else,
It's good to have two things you're good at, so I will stick to both lol.
