I was seriously considering working there, and went pretty far through the interview process (back in '05). Too bad Quebec is so far away from where I live now, so I would have had to literally move away from all my friends and family. Still, it would be fun to live in such an interesting city (Montreal).

How many employees does EA have? I always thought they had far more than this, in fact, I assumed they had more than this in EALA alone, but I guess I was wrong. It's cool though, good for them, it's nice to see a government actively interested in the game industry for once . Maybe we should all move to Canada... not that canadians would want us stinking up the place lol.

They're talking about the size of the location itself. EA has more than 3,000 employees in total over the world, but the largest game studio in the world currently is EA Canada with about, I dunno, 2,000 or so people.

Hmm, Canada seems to be popular for game developers. Is coffee cheap up there or something?

France gives massive tax cuts to game developers now, so expect some super studios to pop up there.

Crytek are considering moving, seeing as Germany hates computer games, and everything associated with them (whether this is because 6 out of 7 games involve killing Germans, I don't know).

Britain are planning something similar I believe, along with the construction of a Game School (like a Film School). Hopefully it will be sucessful.

It is incredibly annoying that we are one of the big three games producing countries, and we basically never produce games with a recognisably British quality (Japanese and US games are easily identifiable).

Europe is the killer market, we are the ones with all the disposable cash and a love of electronic entertainment, why Britain doesn't start making games specifically for Europe is beyond me. If I see another British game set in America, with American voice actors I will cry (shame on everyone - except you Lionhead have a gold star).

Fingers crossed for GTA IV: Fife.

Now that would be a must buy - being a Fifer myself. I'm surprised they don't do another GTA London, with modern gangsters ala Lock Stock, Snatch, Layer Cake, pretty sure they could get that short bald dude to voiceover.

So long as Rockstar North don't start dreaming of Canada, DMA and Rockstar are really the only bragging points Scotland has left regarding videogame development.

The Forth Road and Rail bridges are in San Andreas, I'm guessing the artists appreciated doing that, not easy but worth it if you know what I mean.

Meh, stop complaining ye We don't have any major studios here, the most well-known game-RELATED companies here are Havok and Torc Interactive (No, not the same as Garage Games).

But they could actually do a GTA UK - I mean, San Andreas was a mini-state, and the UK is only the size of a state or two. Just scale down the land, and the cities would be close enough to each other so that you could bomb up the M1 without too much trouble...

I mean, how many cities would actually have to be done properly? Ten, absolute max.

Missions involving Old Firm football hooligans, peddling cocaine for London bankers, trafficking asylum seekers?! I would be unbelievable. We'd be a much better target for Rockstar's humour and overblown characters as well. It could be such a diverse and dense game.

Hell, I'd personally fund any game that put me in Maidstone with a Jaguar and a rocket launcher.

There's something about the smell of burning Chav in the morning...

Throw in some Dead Rising style deaths and weaponry and we'd have a new religion!.

Yeah, in fact, the game is not about becoming a crime lord at all, it is entirely about purging the country of chavs.

I think the only reason they aren't going after a new GTA: London, besides the fact that (to my knowledge anyway) GTA London was a bit of a commercial flop compared to the other GTA titles, is that Sony's Team Soho keeps whipping out Getaway titles. If you think about this for a second, typical consumers would probably say "blah, Rockstar is ripping off The Getaway guys," because GTA: London is a relatively unknown title, especially in comparison to The Getaway. I've seen it myself when talking to younger people, when I say "GTA London" I've sometimes encountered people who say "oh, you mean The Getaway." Anyway, I think that's why they won't do it, but my last name isn't Houser so I wouldn't know for sure, hehe.
