A rather pleasing observation, DBpro is in DevMaster's top 10 engines. Considering that that's out of 259 engines, I'd say that's quite an achievement.

10th, actually (But that's compared with Torque and other popular engines). It's located on the right-hand side of the screen.

EDIT: Although it should be first

Bah, DBP should be higher on the list than 3Impact

Haven't heard of a lot of those, but really it's no surprise, just like the auto-negative comments from ex-Blitz3D users, or the often out dated information.

3Impact looks and sounds terrible, and there's no way it has a bigger user base than DB, what a crock!.

3Impact has a very small active user base at their forum. I dunno if you guys have ever heard of 3dRad, but the 3Impact company bought them out a few years ago. 3dRad for it's time was a very nice object oriented user-friendly game maker. More point and click than anything, but there was a BASIC scripting language integrated into it so you could make anything you wanted. Anyhow, 3Impact company discontinued 3dRad when they decided it wouldn't be a viable product. All of a sudden about 2 years later they tell us that 3dRad v6 is released. It took everyone by surprise I'll tell you that. It's being powered by the 3Impact engine now. It's alot more point and click and there may not even be any user scripting or coding. 3Impact had a nice opportunity to make 3dRad an awesome tool, but now... eh... I have grown to dislike the 3Impact company. I only frequent their forums because of all the old friends.

I can't see that no-mark being taken very seriously:

I are magic, cos wot I are done are make sum aktual things in it. When an idiot tells you something is too hard, just makes you want to do it all the more, just so they're aware that they're an idiot, not that they'd accept it of course but at least all single cell organisms, bacteria, and insect fecal matter in the room will know better - most of them got through the tutorials y'see .

While I like DBP pretty good, if they knew the things on that list that are not in DBP ... I think it would be lower on the list.

Unless the other engines have alot of things listed that aren't really in them.

*Occlusion Culling ? I haven't seen this could someone point me to it
*Nodetree Optimisation ? Same here
*Supports MDL, MD2, MD3, 3DS models ? Should say somewhat supports these ... I haven't tried them in a while but, support is so bad they you have to manually enable them to use them.
*Lens Flares, Billboarding ? If you code them manually
*Terrain Rendering, CLOD ? I haven't seen any working LOD commands yet, unless it's some kind of texture LOD

Wow never heard of these engines. I only heard of torque and darkbasic pro so it surprises me that there are 8 whole engines inbetween them i guess im going to do research and see what these other 8 unexpected engines are.

Yay its betting Blitz3D!!!

I think all of the reasons that the Blitz fans trash DarkBASIC pro are weak, except for the comment about the forum users being rude. This is definitely not one of the most relaxed forums . And I guess the documentation needs a little work. But the rest can be easily countered.

But those comments about the forum not being helpful obviously didn't look very much into it and read anything.

And of course, there's the unsurprising n00b trashing DarkBASIC Pro because they didn't have the patience to learn to program :-(

Anyway, congrats on getting 10th and beating Blitz3D

Not very good in my opinion, look down into the Open Source Top 10, there are better engines there, as most of them require something like C++.

Probably, I've heard a lot of good things about it, shame it's Mac only (Although one licence lets you export for Windows)

But DBP is easy anyway, I learnt what I needed all by myself, mostly through the manual of DBP and DBC, except collision of course, never got my head around that, except box based collision, so I've stolen snippets ever since

Although I personally think DBP should be higher, it's a good spot, a good bit of advertisement. I can see why Torque is on the top, although it can be kind of difficult and slow to learn, it's a powerful, fast and reliable engine, the other's, I'm not so sure about, TV3D is higher, I've used, it has a very similar flow to dark basic, similar basic features, except DBP has it's own compiler and editor for the language, TV3D is an GDK for C++, C#, VB and Delphi.
