Nice tutorial dude! I would have never thought of this concept before! Thanks!

Also checked out your other tutorials such as the "Real Textures for Games" one and they were very helpful too!

This may sound like a noobish question..wait I am one...but how do I set the intensity of the light? I don't see an option for it in the settings box for the lights.

Niiiiice....hadn't thought of doing that before. I wish the lights in FPSC had more control over falloff and intensity - so this is a cool tip for brightening things up without using horrible flat ambient light.

Ahh sorry about that, my Mistake I should have said range! I will fix that so no one else has any problems! I tend to just waffle on thinking everyone will understand me! Good catch!

Thanks buddy! Yeah I too wish that the lights would see an update. Its not a bad system but I just want more control. Maybe even volumetric lighting, now that would be something!

Ah very cool, too bad there isn't a setting for intensity...isn't it standard in DBP? Wonder if you could mod FPSC, change how lights are handled. I'm pretty sure Evolve has also released a volumetric shader, wonder if that could be incorporated.

Anyway, wasn't high-jacking, just thinking out loud. Also is that a standard ratio for the lights then, Normal light/Shadow light=2/5? Just wondering encase peps what to create larger ranged lights. I was actually looking for a global illumination setting in FPSC because my levels tend to turn out dark sometimes. This is some good knowledge.

No worries Bro,

I would have to say it depends on your layout, sometimes this tends to lighten up my levels beyond that of shadows and just gives me a very bright area. If you had a 3x9 room with three lights, I would probably have the bounce lights inbetween the Ordinary lights.

This fills in the gaps and makes this:

Into This:

But in the end its all about experimenting to suite your needs. It's really time consuming to constantly be changing a small value here and there but I find that it really helps make the level seem more professional, but thats just me!
