While I am sure the extension is a coincidence, I could see a major title developing a toolset with DBP, fast and easy and FPS is not a big factor.

I agree. Just a file extension coincidence. Since the files in the game contain data, I would venture to say that the letters "DB" mean "Data Base" and the rest is in an index. Like "DBP" could be "Data Base P"

Stalkersa good game, I wouldn't be surprised if it's made in DBPro but anyway from what I can see in the game direc it's made in C++ and Lua.

That's the DBPro setup file, each project is actually a file like that, it's not source code (DBA), it's the file generated when you click 'Yes I do want a project file'.

Nobody thinks that STALKER is written in DBPro, anyone who's played it will know, it's full of stuff that you would do very differently in DBPro, or not at all. So please cease the sillyness!.

I prefer not to lock threads unless they get ugly, if I locked all the silly threads in OT, then I'd have nowhere to post

I'm thinking someone might come along and reveal some secrets about the game, maybe pick up a few pointers that'll encourage me to think about maybe wanting to play the thing.

Van B, it has a great atmosphere for a game better then resident evil and even fallout! plus the directional lighting is awsomeness....

Well at least I learned something from reading this thread. I was wondering what the heck had happened to all my source code when I opened a file and that came up.

We all know that that it isn't made DBpro.
Well if it was u would of seen the gamecreators in the startup screen because they wouldn't be able to make a game with out a license seeming as the developers are well know.

well, i guess its just a coincidence.

my computer made a connection between the extensions and DB and showed me some of those files as db projects.

I never really believed Stalker could be made in dark basic, but when i saw the files, I was just very surprised, and before thinking made a post.

but i did believe in possibility of dark basic playeing some part in developing this game.

Just don't flame me, this really wasn't meant to be a joke or a prank. just a stupid assumption.

No way. The DBP license does not require a TGC logo anywhere on the product. I could be wrong, but after seeing hundreds of DB/DBP games I'm pretty positive

While not strictly 'on topic' I found this quite amusing. Are some Stalker assets stolen from Doom 3 and Half-Life 2?

yeah, i have heard of that, Stalker, being the being title it is, I don't think they would openly steal something from other major titles like d3 and hl2. If anything they bought it from them otherwise, i think valve and ID would have stalker's ass on a plate by now.

GSC admitted it as well, there will probably be a law suit and a quiet out of court settlement then we'll here nothing more about it
