creator of zombies.
Well that would be quite difficult you see.

Those lightrays are models and especially made for those kind of
broken walls, so you'll have to have a broken wall in the shape as in the screenies.
But i'll make some lightrays and release them along with the cars.

but otherwise, looks good

are you going to be using these building segments personally or are you considering selling? because i think you could make a tidy profit off these, theres not a lot of stuff on the forums of a similar nature, and it looks fantastic, very pro! Reminds me of Metal Gear solid 4, i know that X9 restricts it from looking the same graphically but on X10 you could perhaps use these in a similar way to the MGS4 level design

I'll take three buildings, eight cars and a cheeseburger
If there's anything you need to add it's furniture. Not to be cruel but couches don't just disappear because the city gets bombed. And besides, it's funny to have a huge firefight while a table just sits in the middle of everything, unharmed.

P.S. In case you didn't know, I was just kidding about the order

Butter fingers.
I already have 4 when do you want it to be finished?

dfujis the rocker.
It is still a W.I.P level so.
And right now my concern is the level lay out.

I will edit this post with some screenshots so stay tuned!

---EDIT---

Okey here are some new screenies.

2 new buildings,
Photo edited textures, (photos not taken by me! but it was edited by me!)
New meshes,
Also "realistic" new ground mesh, (it is not flat anymore)
And if i say so myself, the red building is looking pretty good ingame.

Anyway here are the screenies!

That was all the screenies for now.

Um, I don't wanna hog up your thread man, so I'm not gonna post up any screenies, but theres one attached. I'm doing a game in DBpro that's set in a massive (currently..tiny) destroyed city.

I'm doing it all myself, so it's killing me modelling all this stuff whilst trying to code and animate as well. Your buildings fit the style very nicely, and It'd save me a bunch of time to just drop yours into it..

I'd be happy to pay you for most of this stuff, but obviously it'd be great to kick it into gear and actually have a team working on stuff. I have a month free, and wanna get a small demoware out of it so I can look for contracts.

Quote: "I already have 4 when do you want it to be finished?"

Well, I realise that I'm probably gonna need around 20 buildings in the end, along with rubble and so on. I figured that if I bought 6 off you I could chop them about and probably make it up to about 10-15 semi unique ones. I don't know how you feel about it, but if you wanted to collaborate on this, I'd really appreciate the help... and I think we could get something sick outta it. If not, I can always pay you back in FPSC stuff.

Get back to me on email (lets not take this further off topic)

Thanks could you please let me know which textures you like most?
Because the newer screenies contains photo edited textures.

And it would be great to hear people say that they like them more.
And also thanks about the light decals.
(thanks to Roger Wilco's tutorial for making it possible)

Ok, texture crit.

I prefer the newer stuff with the photo edited textures. My criticism comes in the editing of the pictures. It looks like the meshes have been UV mapped well, but the texture is just slapped on.

open up the UV in photoshop (or whatever you use) and paste in the image that is going on the wall. You need to rough up the edges around the broken bits...after all, bricks don't just break cleanly.

What I'm saying is, that the texture for each wall needs to be like at least 2 images, your "clean" image (how the wall would look untouched) and your rough image (a photo of crumbling crete or something), then at the points where the wall is trashed you layer in the damaged texture.

if you send me the UV map for one of the walls I'll show you what I
mean

(off to check email in the meantime)

I tried to make 1.

Well i think it worked, isnt done yet.

But if i create it like this the textures wouldnt be any sharp
anymore.

But it gives a more "destroyed" feeling.

Anyway here is the screenie not in FPSC just a quick test.
The texture isnt done yet i just did some quick burn tools
to see how it would look like.

I also did 2 walls, the wall on the screenie and the wall behind it. (look almost the same)

And dont mind the stairs and such.

Well what do you think?

---EDIT---

Oh and Butter fingers.
I am out to work tommorow so i cant check any emails then.
I thought to just let you know before you think i abandoned any modeling.

And did you received the mail yet? (sorry i never know if they work)

Unless they are supposed to be - those 'windows' look more like cloth than glass. Though I have no idea how to make a good glass texture so maybe someone else can help.

s4real.
I am changing some textures.
(especially the broken windows)
Also i will increase the size of the current "damaged" texture.
It is now 2048x2048 but i will change it to 4096x4096.
And save it to a dds file.
The reason i didnt did this before was, that tga files are a lot
bigger and with bigger i mean almost 15 mb bigger.
But then i found out that dds was a lot smaller.

But thanks man, and its great to hear that the new textures
are better then the previous ones.

Pertti.
Thanks mate glad you liked it!

dfujis the rocker.
Thanks man! And with x10 coming soon which will support
normal maps, (right?) will give the building a whole new
look!

Stamina.
Thanks glad you liked it!
And no prob for announcing your model pack.
(liked your free pack a lot!)

---EDIT---

Sorry for not posting any screenies.
But i have these ideas of making this "ruined" city
a whole lot more "spectaculair".
Here is the idea:

So this city is all broken ruined etc etc...
But what has caused this to happen? (dont know for myself yet)
The year is .....(dont know, it is supposed to be in the furure)

I planned not to go with all the sci-fi buildings,
just the normal kind of buildings.

The world has been destroyed (almost that is) by an unknown
source.
But that was many years ago, just a few buildings stand after the
big "explosion".

And since it is that many years ago trees, plants and such
would grow everywhere. (just to give that sort of ancient feeling like, this is over a hundred years old)

So that was the whole idea.

To spice the level a bit up with vegetation everywhere.

I'll make custom trees that grows inside of a building and
comes out of the window.
Or a tree that comes right out of the streets with cracks surrounds it like it bursted out of the ground.

Anyway tell me what you think about it.

Well this is just a minor update.

Made 2 trees and a few grass entities.

Also a few new segments.
A new wooden fence.
Some bumps to make the ground less "perfect".
And a new building.
(also found a new and very easy way to make buildings, so
the building progress would much faster now)

Anyway screenie number 1:

This is tree number 1.

Tree number 1 with some custom made grass that goes along with it.

The path with a new wooden fence and the new bumps.

Tree number 2, this tree grows out of one window into another.

And also the leaves where custom made for each single tree.

Hope you like the screenies!
And i'll be making much much more vegetation.

And thanks Stamina for the idea!
I'll make sure that i would use it.

Also i have been thinking of a storyline that goes along with it.
But have to finalize it a little.

---EDIT---

And oh yeah i have to make some rubble for this.
Now its to clean so have to make this level a bit more
"destroyed".

And for who those noticed that all these new pics are from a
different level...well...it is!
I never did liked the old 1 i thought it was like
putting some random buildings next to each other.
So i though i should make a new one...a better one!

So this is the new one. (its pretty small compare to the other)
But thats because i am only starting with this one.

Well anyway its getting late...so i am going to sleep.
I will post some more screenshots (i hope) of an update soon!

Fantastic work man, I have to ask what sort of light settings are you useing to get such strong shadows? Small crit, I like the idea of the light in the first models windows pics, but didnt like the chaotic angles they were on. All in all top noch work.

Great to hear you liked it!

I used a light (grey scale) with a range of 50000.
Then placed it as high as it could be.

And about the first pictures...well i am not working on that anymore.
This is my new level i am working on...

And i overused the lightrays... now i will use some in different places...(where it gives that sort of "super natural" feeling)

Woah ! The new models looking just wonderful !
A great idea on the cables thought , they hanging really realistic.
Maybe you should give your light source a sun color(ffffcc).
That's the color that I always using for Sun , but it's only my suggestion.
Anyway they new models looking very good , keep it up !

Looks very good Cheese Cake!

I am also trying to get models like buildings, warehouses (.x) made with Deled in FPSC. Can you describe the steps which are necessary for succesfully import a model into FPSC, especially getting them in the segment editor and export them to FPSC?
I would really appreciate it.

Thanks.

Thanks man glad you liked it!
And thanks for the fog idea!
I almost forgot it was available.

mrniceguy.
Thanks. And as for the exporting part.

You should make your models.

UV map them with 1 texture.

Export it to an X. file.

Import it into segment editor.

follow some tutorials that goes along with segment editor.

And your done!

Or at least that worked for me.

The new screen shots are great , just love them.

I also have found a UV bug of the grass texture , but it's easy to fix.
Sorry if i'm wrong...
