Customizable controls.

Every game has a menu were you can customize the controls (normally placed inside the "options" menu), its such a basic thing, I don't know why games made in FSPcreator do not have it. People like to use their own controls to play several games, specially First person Shooters games.

Also a "performance" menu will be a great plus.

There haven't been those, because old DX9 version of FPSC didn't have integrated "options" menu, way to change things in real time. Some games, like Umbra had a menu that allowed changing some basic settings before the game actually started, but these were actually startup programs that were made using another program. But you could set your own controls in FPSC and/or edit the configure-file of the file manually.

I remember hearing that FPSCX10 could have some kind of "options" menu, but I cannot confirm this.

Yeah I can change the controls, but the player cant. It should be in real time.

yes the player can. He has to open the config file inside the game folder and change it.

Yeah but it is normal for the player to edit the controls
ingame self.

I dont remember any game where you have to edit the controls
by going in a data-file to accomplish this.

It looks more professional.
And its much easier for people that dont like the standard controls.
But wants to edit them easy without searching all of the data files.

This could be done in DarkBASIC. With a seperate app to edit the config file. I don't know how to do it, and I don't know how to intergrate it in with FPSC X9, never mind X10. It's a start

If someone code it I will happy anyways, I have Darkbasic pro but I cant code anything

Actually, when the game first came out, all it had was a Read This! screen that showed to controls. It wasn't until it was made compatible for Windows 95, and called Doom 95 that they had a control editor. And it wasn't in game, it was in the program launching thing that let you choose the game and episode.

I say that about a lot of things. Then I realise the Ninities were nearly 10 years ago.

TGPEG, I have already built customizable controls into the 1.0 source. This is one of the reasons I am wanting the 1.06 source. What I built allows you to access the customized controls area using the F1 key. I was able to do this with the custom variables available. But I want to have access to some of the enhancements that lee and the gang have made since 1.0 without having to figure out coding all of the recent updates myself. Plus I am hoping they have added some new stuff that they haven't activated fully so that I can play and expand on that.

If you want to code this in yourself, (Having dark basic pro, is a plus here, since you can't create the new .exe without it) You will want to be able to code into the source code the ability to read and write to the file that holds the controls data. Now this can get tricky and will require that you know where all the characters are at. You will also need to design a hud that will show the changes. Just experiment around and work at it, and you can solve this yourself with and you will feel really good about what you have accomplished.

btw, the the dark basic threads have tutorials regarding this sort of project, which is where I figured out how to do it.

Yeah, I will do that, or at least "try", I have Darkbasic pro, I also want to change some stuff and add stuff I need for my game, this will be also a practice to me, because I'm waiting to DB pro X10 and FPS creator X10 and it´s source code to do the same thing

Overlord has a config panel that you must load as a separate program in order to change key configuration, then you have to load in the game.

. its a separate menu you don't have to edit a data-file. Many users don't know even how to open a RAR file better if we don't ask they to edit a datafile...

We actually don't have even a separate menu.

Was typed by me.

Oh i think you misunderstood me.

The reason why i said that was because.
FPSC doesnt has a menu where you can do this.
In order to do this you need to edit a "data" file.
Dont know where it is though.

So it wasnt a reply at Nickydude concerning Overlord.

I was just saying that with FPSC you had to do this.

No I didnt misunderstood you, dont worry

he quoted you comparing "Edit a data file to change controls" with "a separate menu to change controls" so I said it is not the same thing.

Sometimes I have typos because I'm Spanish and my native language its not English, sorry.

I was just trying to say that even some up-to-date games won't let you change key configs inside the actual game.

Nickydude.
I understand.
But still doesnt it looks more proffesional?
When you have actual options in your game.

With options i mean:
Texture size.
Controls.
Shaders.
Resolution.
Sounds, music.

Sopo the tocho.

Its okay, my bad thought you meant something else.
