Darn... missed her.

@Mugen,
I'd make completely sure it's safe. I'm not saying internet dating is bad or that she isn't legit, but better safe than sorry.

@Benjamin: You heard him, don't stoop down to Nemesis' level. lol

@Gowmars : Believe me, you didn't wanna see it. =)

@Dr Manette : I know, I have a few people that I can rely on, if anything at all goes wrong =) Thanks though, mate =)

Also, mate, if you don't mind, I'm going to email you, so we can exchange MSN & AIM addresses. =)

I'm not saying making friends online is bad. I have a few friends who I made on a local forum. But they live in the same city at me. Having a gf you have never met just makes no sense. And like I said it takes you this long just to finally meet her and then what? you go back home and never see her again. Maybe it can work, but she already dumped you cause she can't see you. So what if you get back together with her and visit her. Then you go back home don't see her again for a year and she dumps you again.

You should totally go for a gf who lives near you. I don't see how you could date a girl you will never be able to hold and kiss and touch. much less someone you never met.

Ahw, come on people... Give the guy a break. He's nervous enough without you posting doom scenarios.

Mugen, best of luck. I hope she's everything you expected her to be and that it works out.

The thought that our opinions in this situations reflect our IQ's is false. I've had a few long distance relationships before, the only differences between mine and yours is I actually knew the girls, ANNND I had a car to get to them... Trust me dude, You are missing so much waiting for a girl you might never meet. It might seem worth it now, but in the long run, it will (most likely) waste your money and time. Take some time to see the beautiful wonderful girls in your area! Trust me there are probably hundreds of them.

You can totally date a girl in WOW. Have a picnic with level 35 cheese down by the lake outside Goldshire, while people challenge you to duels. Perhaps you can woo her with your Saturday Night Fever dancing.

Quote: "I gather information before I make my moves =)"

I'm all down for people meeting on the net, but how do you make moves in the virtual world? You can't exactly yawn and put your arm around her when she's almost 1k miles away . But I guess you could try this snazzy pick-up line, guaranteed to work, I promise:
Guy: I have a magic watch, know what it says? It says you're not wearing any under garments! So you're not, right?
Chick: Of course I am!
Guy: Darn! Must be an hour fast!

Quote: "So.... have you guys consummated your cell phone love yet?"

I wonder what that would be like on a payphone?
Guy: Ooh, what are you doing now?
Girl: I'm taking off my...
~~ Please deposit twenty-five cents for the next ten minutes ~~

Sad thing is, I'm sure someone somewhere has done that .

Anyway, best of luck to you Mugen. Of the good stories and horror stories I've heard, the good ones outweight the bad ones rather significantly, so don't let these guys get to you . Just be sure to see her on webcam reacting to things you're saying *before* you set out and meet her (you said you had set up a webcam, but didn't say specifically if she did). The most common horror story I've heard relates to people sending a picture of Jessica Alba, but turning out to be Rosanne Barr. And the worst horror stories have the person showing up looking like Helen Mirren (well, age-wise, not implying Helen Mirren is ugly for her age). And if she says her name is Holly (or a variation in spelling of that name), avoid her, she's nothing but trouble!

EDIT: And by "Reacting," I mean seeing her laugh at your jokes and stuff. Apparently there's some pervs on this thread, lol.

You're asking for girlfriend help in the Geek Culture forum?

Good luck on the phone bill...it was cheaper to move in with my wife-to-be than it was to pay the phone bills every month...
Long distance relationships are very difficult. If you can survive one you have a really good shot at a relationship.

Please have mercy and use the search function.

Yeah, that is so tops. Nice that Cyprus has amazingly cheap phone calls (compared to UK)...

Anyways, reminds me of a few friends of mine. One couple is getting married soon and originally (mid 90's) met on MUDs (they still play the same MMORPGs in different rooms of their house). I knew a couple who got together in the early days of MONO (big MUD, chat, community thing back in the day), and several other people who had relationships from MUDs. So can work out. But 10 years? Bit long. How old was she when you first virtually met her?

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing
