CShop can animate?
Google 'Free 3D Animation Tools Export .x'

@Bizar Guy,

Yeah. I made the mistake of asking for a name change a while back. I don't know what got into me
I've asked Jeku, but he said NEY because he's the one that changed me to Veintitres.
They don't even respond to my sig....
I'll have to ask personally over MSN. Watch out mods. It might be YOU.

Or just report yourself for abuse on the forums and blame it on schizofrenia caused by the double name.

@CGJ: Maybe you could add the animations when you get them and work on the game in the meantime? It'd be cool to see this game back on its feet

I've got it. I know the problem. It's a severe case of LAZINESS.

Seriously Jordan, a food bowl. That's pretty much as easy as deleting half of a sphere and scaling it a bit on the y axis. Then, maybe slap a random wood texture on it.

You really haven't coded the actual game at all yet either. There's never any harm in using placeholders, Jordan.

Nevermind got one, I really need it converted though (x or 3ds) and I am not just being lazy at this one.

And yes I have coded more of the game than you think Xeno.

here ya go jordan - that food bowl in .3ds. Did you make it? no offence if you did but it looks like a cylinder with a couple of polygons moved down a bit. any food would just pour straight out! it also has no UV co-ordinates i noticed. do you want me to model you a new one? i'll even throw in a texture if you want.

Jordan, you'll have to add me to that list if you're going to add cash and roxas. I want to yell at you right now JUST USE AN F'ING CUBE PLACEHOLDER TO FINISH FEEDING.

I really want to encourage you, but from the moment you went to 3d, it became painstakingly clear how much progress you're making. I'm fed up. I really want to encourage you to keep going, but...

Rofl! I agree but dont be so harsh
Seriously Jordan you arent ready for 3d IMO..
You changed your game into 3d and what you've shown to us?

Psionic 3d model and plain with texture... And now you are looking for food bowl pretty long time :/

And i actually liked the 2d look of this game but oh well.. :/

bizar is right. models/media should always come second. get the basic thing ready, then add the polish. A game doesn't have to be in a polished, shiny state every step of the way.

It isn't polished or shiny that dog is just a placeholder. And sorry Roxas but you have really hardly nice in any of my other good threads and Cash also has something smart elicy to say even in something like this. And Bizar Guy, good God calm down, one post affends all. And how do I do a basic game when the basics require media themself? Think what you want to think but I am continuing this project with or without your support.

They do not.
To think; there existed such a thing that could hold the place of media so you could work on the actual game and engine and polish the graphics up later.

Oh, wait.

Then you must learn.

Jordan, don't post here for a while. I'd like to see a major update in a month. Self-motivate yourself. By then, I would also love to see the use of placeholders. They don't necessarily mean DBPro primitive shapes. You can create very low quality placeholder's that do the job right in free modeling app's. Learn.

Jordan,

You can't run it in DB if you don't build an executable.
So you're saying all this time the executable was built fine when testing, and now all of a sudden it's not working?

We don't want a demo, Jordan. We want you to take our advice, learn from it, and use it.

You have never been able to pretend a cube is a bowl? I think I finally understand your problem.

And so you understand my post does not offend all, just you, as it was meant to. You'll noticed everyone agrees with me, in not so harsh a tone. Roxas and Cash in case you missed it are some of the heavy hitters around here, and when they say something, you should listen, and at the very least give a good reason for disagreeing.

Of course keep working on the project, even if you lose a lot of support. I'd never respect you if you dumped this project just because you lost support. Think about it this way though: the amount of support you have is a decent show of how good you're doing, and let me tell you that it takes a whole lot to go from people liking your project and getting excited when they see your thread to this. Maybe you should take the hint that somewhere down the line this thread went wrong. And that's the great thing about threads, you can go and see exactly where.

By making a statement like that you sound like you don't understand basic coding principles.

Quote: "I code my way, you code yours."

Maybe you should consider changing "your way" since everyone else who has many more years (and projects) of experience than you codes differently. I would think it obvious which way is considered the "right way".

And Cash may have sounded rude, but he was honest. Any decently experienced coder could whip up what you have (which appears to be a dog model loaded with a room model) in about 2 minutes, it's not worth a WIP, and it's certainly not worth double or triple posting to bump. It would be one thing if you were actually making decent progress, but from what I can see most of your posts are pointless.

While you've come a long way, you still have a long ways to go in both maturity and programming skills. You need to learn to stop being stubborn and personally offended whenever someone gives you sometimes harsh, but honest, advice. Do you think that experienced programmers like Bizar Guy are just trying to put you down by advising you on how to do something? You should either stick with 2D (which seems to be best for you) or learn more and do more with 3D than just loading models onto the screen and posting it as a WIP. Stop being offended so easily (as you will by this post), stop being stubborn and take others advice, realize that you still have a lot to learn, go through some of the tutorials in the newcomers corner if you're going to move into 3D, and don't post a WIP unless it's ready to be one (which, judging by what I've seen, won't be a while).

I'm sure you'll take this post as stubbornly and offensively as you always do, but I'm just trying to give you advice, like I have in the past, that hopefully you'll realize is best to follow.

CGJ,

i've been watching this thread since it's inception. i tried to help a little with the few icons i provided... you know, back when the project lived up to the thread's title... to encourage and show support, as so many others have. i can't say i've seen any other project receive as earnest and honest community support than this. and, that's saying a lot given the generousity in time, effort, knowledge, advice, and overall determination to help fellow users here (and, a large PERSONAL "thank you" to ALL of you who make this forum as good as it is while i'm on the subject).

that being said, you're losing us! and, its not because we don't want to help. when i read Bizar Guy's post (11 up from this one), it was EXACTLY what i've been feeling. then you go on to single out 2 of the most actively supportive members on the forums, Roxas and CC... you don't have to like how they come across (which, personally, i've never felt was anything negative. sometimes frank and honest, but you'll do well to understand what people are REALLY saying vs HOW they say it). the fact is they, and many others, have taken time out of their day to offer YOU something.

statements like:
Quote: "
I have never been able to do that. I code my way, you code yours."
regarding the use of place-holders tells me, you don't want to learn. you're stubborn. you're going to continue on the hard way. when people who produce quality projects (ie, you can tell that whatever they're working on is the "real deal" kinda stuff) suggests something to you, why would you choose to ignore it? they've got experience you don't have. they're trying to guide you away from some of the many road blocks and pitfalls of this little hobby of ours. trying to help you overcome obstacles and feel real "accomplishment" that they've felt before. and, it's NOT supposed to be easy... it's supposed to give you headaches and grief and "bad days"! those are called "growing pains" and without them, i just don't know if a person could feel the kind of success you're trying for with a project like this.

so... since i haven't offered support in awhile, please accept this long-winded post as just that. i really do have "better things to do" than write on and on like this. but, i see you heading into a "fruitless orchard" given your current attitude. perhaps take some time to step back and evaluate what you really want, and consider the best route to get there without discounting what anyone has said because it's something other than "great job!". that's about all i can say

edit:

dang i type slow. gil got in before me and was a lot quicker getting to the point. heh. <shrugs> ah, well. what he said!

Okay, everyone's been honest and stuff. Shut up now. Let CGJ do his work, instead of de-motivating him collectively. Most points have been made 10 times by now.

CGJ, change the attitude. Some people are harsh and you can kick back, even if they're the biggest shots on the forums, but do take into account what they say. Get back to work and use the darn cube as food bowl.

Alright, attitude changed and I will continue this project and edit out CC and Roxas where I put that don't support this project because they do, and I have never realised the help that they are trying to give me without listening.

But one question, I can't get my cube small enough without going through the landscape (which is a cube itself) and I can't position it without the dog disappearing any suggestions?
