Yeah, Game Informer was complaining about textures and character detail in Halo 3, and I doubt they even know how crazy it was to make Halo 3 what it was.

I think I'd like to work for Bizar Games, If I ever got into game making as a job and made it a real company. As it is, I'm thinking I'm probably going to take most of my ideas and make them into comics instead of games.

Big companies though, probably Nintendo, though I'd hate the idea of working on someone else's idea. I also would want to make a more mature game though with the same feel of playability as Nintendo. Well, maybe Funcom 'cause I love story games like the Longest Journey series. I love Relic, but I don't think I'd want to work for them.

Hmm. I guess I just wouldn't want to make someone elses game. Same way with drawing but I don't think I get a chance to work opening on my own ideas without working on someone elses first.

I'm kinda of an old timer, but the old relic games really caught my attention with their focus on story and gameplay, as opposed to graphics.

I mean, look at the old homewold graphics, blocky as hell, but they still give you that feeling, don't they.

That nostalgic feeling.
So yeah, relic would be nice.

...

If they still exist.

Man I'm so behind.

imo, scarface was a pile of dog poo, but that is just me. I don't know what games company I'd like to work for, from what jeku has said the benefits at EA sound pretty sweet, I don't know enough about any games company to make an opinion on where I'd like to work.

What is juvenile?

I agree that Radical only makes crap games. The best they have done in recent memory is Simpsons Hit 'n' Run. They're also located in Vancouver, unfortunately.

I mean seriously, do you (INH) have to do that each time Raven posts? Get over it and just ignore him if you don't like it. You don't have to read his posts and then go back and pretend not to, while notifying us that you are toggling his post.

Hmmm... Company I'd like to work for...

Well, I'm already working for MISoft and I have enjoyed it thus far, so I say MISoft FTW as far as indy companies go.

Big companies...Probably anyone... but I'm hoping MISoft gets big someday so

To be fair Raven, you seem like the only one who is being singled out because you are the only person who broadcasts outrageous lies on the forum.

It's not a dig, it's a fact. I'm sure are a decent person and a good programmer or artist or whatever, but there is no doubt that you regularly lie about (mostly) your credentials as a member of the games industry.

I don't think there is anyone on the forum who would disagree with that.

This most recent contradiction is a a pretty good example, why would someone who thinks companies should not focus on degrees, take three degrees and a doctorate?

Look, it's not a big deal, we all know you like to lie and we love you just the same Just don't get agressive when people pick you up on it, it is, after all, you who is dishonest.

How exactly is it dishonest?
So what if I have degrees, none are computer science, art, programming, etc.. they're purely maths and physics.
Sure that's great for advance programming, and such... however I've only recently started programming on a professional level, and this is due to asking to do it. I'm not doing it for AAA titles or such, just Live Arcade.

For the previous 7-8years I've been an artist. So yeah, why exactly should I focus on saying "degrees are important to become a developer". I've learnt everything either in my freetime or from other more senior artists. It's been the same with programming.

I'm not saying that degrees are pointless, or that people should ignore continuing their education; however they must be taken in respects you're learning the in/outs of your trade, not a black'n'white rule set for meaning you can actually do the job from day 1 like most graduates believe. I also don't believe that they should be used to weed out the truely talented, because the best people I've ever had the priviledge to work with have natural talent in these fields with no real education to back it up.

If you want non-gaming companies, but are computer related, I wouldn't mind working for Maxon (The guys that made Cinema 4D and Bodypaint3D) for one thing they're located near where I live and that I actually asked them if they had any part time cleaning jobs etc. Of course now, I am at Uni, Bedford is a bit far to go to work from Derby. Another good thing with Maxon if I was interested in a full time position, they have a HQ in Germany...well that's one of the places I'm considering for moving to. But I'm not even the most skilled programmer in Dark Basic, or the most experienced 3D modeller and the fact they're hobbies - I don't think a career in programming Cinema 4D or holding teaching seminars etc. a future job for me.

In the world of realism and my career ideas, I'd liked to work for Future Publishings (And hopefully 3D World Magazine) or the National Geographic, because for Future publishing, they're the world's biggest publishers and would have several opportunities to write for different magazines and get a good pay - and they have a studio in Bath, so I wouldn't have to pay those London prices for living.

As for National Geographic, well paid to travel the world and write about it...nuff said, dream come true.

Those and to become a well known best selling novelist with enough money to live on comfortably.

From what I've heard they're quite a tough company to get in to.
For some reason they've never really seemed to appealing to me, quite a technical company.. not too sure how enjoyable it would be grinding games rather than being creative about them.

I've heard really bad things from codemaster, i had a mate who used to work there (before he promptly left at the first opportunity) and apparently he used to get treated really badly. Mostly to do with work hours and the amount they pushed on him.
I even heard stories of one of his mates who ended up sleeping under his desk so he could wake up to his work because he needed to get it finished, not sure on the credibility of this though, though it seems likely.

Nice to see the variety in the companies people would like to work for though and mostly aren't just because they make popular games.
I wish i lived in vancouver sometimes, purely for the amount of companies and VFS obviously.

Anyone ever heard of Escape? Pretty expensive courses but they seem well worth it if anyones really serious about getting excellent training in the 3d industry, they go through the trouble of finding you opportunities in other companies too, check it out.

You're lucky--- I only know one software engineer at work who doesn't have a degree, and that's because he had been in the IT department for 5 years before they let him try his hand at a programming job. Now he's one of the top in my department!

Of course I have heard of them, they're hugely advertised in 3Dworld magazine, hardly could miss it. I've heard good things about their training - I think they are also a reseller of things like Zbrush as well aren't they? I was interested in going there brushing up my 3D skills, but the first thing was price and the second was I think it's in Soho...Not that I don't mind the red light district, it's just I don't like distractions whilst I work.

Nobuo doesnt work anymore for square.. He doesnt work anybody now on.. But he makes still musics for a price.

And the new composer is lot better IMO! The one who composed musics for Crisis Core.

He is better because the musics fits scenes better and has more feeling! In example this cgi cutscene in Crisis Core http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFBcUmeV3n0

I'd have to say that the only game company I'd especially like to work for is Funcom. First of all, they're Norwegian. Second, they make some kickass games, TLJ being my favourite game ever. And third, it looks and sounds fun working for them, after seeing "behind the scenes" stuff and such.

revising my old post, haven't looked at it yet but adding a few more companies

EA Sports BIG Circuit-These guys made the game ssx tricky and it was one of the game experiences that made me want to make games that much more.

Naughty Dog/Insominac- Both releasing surperb games that rivaled the likes of mario replayability with me *mind you I don't replay a lot of games, most of mine are rpg's * I would love to work with such a talented group of people one day.

Rockstar- Ever pushing the envelope, I want to be a part of it myself, how far can we take the gamer into an experience?

I agree 100%, ID SOFTWARE is the game company I'd work for.

I mean, with DOOM, Quake, all those games. You gotta love ID.

Or Epic Games, because if it's the company who made Gears Of War, you can't go wrong.

Or Bungie, because Halo rocks.
