After all this drivel....and still noone's had an original idea.
Zombies...god, how many more zombies are we going to have to see in computer games? Yawn...

Simple, how can the lower trouser leg stay up like that? It's defying
gravity. I suggest you squash it down so it hangs properly around the ankle. It's not scarey. The skill is in it's animation and it's presence in the game:eg:
"You shoot it, it keeps coming, again you shoot it, it keeps coming at you, arms raised towards your throat. You take out the side of it's head with a further shot, spraying congealed blood and rotting flesh in a thick black streak on the wall, It whines it's annoyance, the sound turning horribly into a gurgle. Jaw opening and shutting aimlessly, biting at the air. You realise on pulling the trigger again that the bullets in your gun have run out. The loading of the bullets isn't instant, you have to wait while they are loaded one by one, just like in real life. So there's no time - it'll set upon your neck with what remains of it's teeth. You better run - two more of the foul creatures have just appeared in the doorway behind it... You need to find somewhere to hide..."

LMAO Jason

Simple didn't post this thread in order to help ameliorate Raven's model,he just did it because to boost his own ego...

Right now it's become the size of Manha'freakin'tan and soon won't fit anymore in this universe so he'll have to become the Godlike entity he always wanted to bee seen as.

Jasonio >> I suggest you go back and read the very first post ( and the title of this topic )

I'd NEVER post up a model with such a bad quality as this

And actarus, you Muppet !! ..... I know that all you are trying to do is wind me up ( and you've been trying for days ) ..... maybe to try and get me to say some "Banning" words ?

I'm not going to bite

ROTFLMAO Solidz

Simple:

-maybe to try and get me to say some "Banning" words

That would be called 'projection'.

-I know that all you are trying to do is wind me up ( and you've been trying for days

That would be called 'Not agreeing with Simple'.

It does come around doesn't it?

Sorry people, I couldn't be bothered to read it properly!

Where's a picture of your zombie, Simple? MAybe it was tiny and I missed it!

Anyway, ze point I'm trying to make is, noone on these message boards has shown any imagination. Everyone seems to want to make copies their favorite games. It's endless RPGs (wooah! I'm doing an RPG, based in a LotR style fantasy land, big deal... No point - just buy Neverwinter Nights and save yourself the trouble) and mediocre FPSs (no point, buy Half Life 2 when it comes out) and maybe even a Zelda clone... Why do people want to clone anything? Answer: Because people can only critise their programming and graphics, and not their ideas... eg: "I can do a better Zombie than you!" , can't you think of anything better than a zombie? If you can't at least add something new to a worn out idea, like make them more than just one bullet cannonfodder.

There is nothing worse than games just based on bits of other games. It shows very little imagination or talent. There is enough of this rubbish released commercially. How many more times must we see D&D/LotRs creatures (eg: goblins and orcs?) ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

The industry will be dead within 10 years (at least creatively) if this all we can muster...

The game has originality in the fact that it is produced in B/W (Black and White) with some aging processes added to it. A zombie game is a good choice for that style. I think that the game has a lot of appeal, even with this strange zombie clothing situation. The texture is actually fine in B/W.

Pincho - Ok B/W is good = Night of the Living Dead movie stylee - and a good way to save time and resources, but what else is there to the GAME? No worries, if you can't say.

It's a very permissive place.

Jasonio,
The model is for Randi's game, and is full of ideas that all those zombi games have neglected. For a start, it's not even a shooter, if it pans out how Randi wants, it'll be more about survival than endless zombi killing. The game post is in the beta announcements forum, look for 'Night Fall'.

Simple, Raven, Actarus - I think you all need to drink some beer and eat some class B meat, so your invited to a BBQ at my house. 2pm Sunday this weekend. I know your all hundreds of miles away, but come on - I'm making coleslaw .

lol this is kinda just getting silly now isn't it?
Jasino bitching about the validity of another Zombie game, towards Simple when it is my model and i'm not actually having any realy creative control over WHAT goes into the game i'm just working on what Randi wants you wanna bitch about imagination then do it to the person who is actually designing the game

and Pincho, how many cheap shots does one person have to take before they're allowed to be flamed to a cinder (was that a warning or a question ... i'll let you decide)

"Pull me under...pull me under...pull me under i'm not afraid..." oops...listen to Dream Theater.

anyway...whos to say what a zombie should look like...don't know...i've seen one before, but that was some 100 yr old lady i saw trying to buy 4 cases of beer at my work...

hmm...she was wrinkely....could see her bones through her skin too...kinda sick

uh..guitar solo..hold on....ok done

another question...why does a zombie have to look ripped up and bloody?...can't he wear a 4 peice suit like anyone else? hmm...guess the brain eating thing would stain...but hey, at least his cloths arn't ripped.

hmm..time for chicken..brb, gion to wendy's

perhaps he could have it dry cleaned, they can get some bloody stubborn stains outta clothes now ... blood certainly isn't a problem, however maybe the $150 fee might be a bit much for a guy with no cash, maybe after he eats all those brains he can go onto nick the guys wallet

i wonder if the people understand that raven was just making what he was told to make and it really wasn't his creativeness maxed out. If you were to judge raven find his best model that he did while just screwing around and then judge him on that

feel free to, i've not really got anything up yet though - just a few piss about models
i'm gonna be posting my 7th Day Project screenshots soon, i know ALOT of people are busting to know about this game more importantly what the engine is now capable of since the update of Karma as well as my own World & Model formats.
A demo is comming, and very soon. So far it marks in at around 420Mb and around 7-8hrs of gameplay ... it has a full story of its own and technically is a prequal to what happens in the actual game.

I'll probably be making a post in general when i do release with the background & screens, but i'd suggest people to get into the whole "Ghost in the Shell" frame of mind for it - because what i've been working on is one hell of a think fest, something that the most hardend Japanimation fans would be very proud of ... a game with story, depth & alot of attention to how it performs.

well you'll all get a nice glimpse at what Raven is capable of when he wants to develop something
i just hope that atleast a few people will have systems powerful enough to run it, and it'll be on the nFinity (when you see it you might understand how i've convinced alot of people that the console is worth while)

i know, it'll help you in the long run, but its gonna be a lotta typing, and i'm gonna insult your ability...alot, just remember that its not coming from a modeler, it gonna come from the programmer who is going to use a model, and as a programmer, i am very nit picky. and then i also as the gamer, which is even worse.

Ok here we go for the face here is the pic

OK now the errors in the face, alot being texturing and some modeling.

#1. What kinda human has a chin dimple so big, actually wait that ain't a dimple thats a crater.

#2. The left cheek is indented, and the right cheek prutrudes. Man he musta been a crack baby.

#3. If you zoom in you'll notice that the left pupil is bigger than the right pupil (I told you i was picky). He must be stoned.

#4. His upper lip, take a look, its quite obvious, either you have a model with one FAT lip, or you just didn't do it consistant (personally i'm leaning on choice 2).

#5. Does he know how to shave? It seems as the hair on the right side is longer then on the left side of his mouth.

#6. His barret, you might of wanted to go rounded on that seing as i have never seen a soldoer in my life that has had perfeectly straight edges on his barret.

#7. On his eyebrows, thew left one seems to be a bit cut off. The right one all bushy, the left has that straight part. It seems as if you were trying to align that eyebrow with the barret.

#8. His nose is almost a perfect triange. He musta had some kinda surgery to do that one.

#9. His nose again, is perfectly centered. Look in a mirror and at people around you, nobody has a perfectly centered nose.

and #10. (Which is as far as i'm going today) His head is based around a square (What a square teeeheeeheee). I have never in my life seen a head in that shape, with the exception of arnold (dunno how to spell last name), but that still wasn't a square.

Toodles
Eric

BTW... I have followed this Topic through its entirety. And i don't care what response i get. I'm just stating what i see. Don't worry, soon i'll go through others models and nitpick at them too .

mirrored, can't be, there is no way that is mirrored, they don't line up. You must have one hella bad program. Cause that ain't mirrored. Just wait i've been looking at the body and theres plenty of mistakes.

@Yusuke: None of your comments are worthwhile. There is nothing wrong with the face. Ok so the hat has a straight edge, what do you expect from a low-poly model. None of the faults that you have found are actually faults, they are actually some of the good things about the model.

Some of those errors you pointed out, are just ridiculous.

Quote: "#1. What kinda human has a chin dimple so big, actually wait that ain't a dimple thats a crater."

Obviously this guy has a crater size dimple.

Quote: "#2. The left cheek is indented, and the right cheek prutrudes. Man he musta been a crack baby]"

Maybe he got hit in the face with something, I mean he is a soldier, and those kinds of things happen.

Quote: "#3. If you zoom in you'll notice that the left pupil is bigger than the right pupil (I told you i was picky). He must be stoned."

"(I told you i was picky). " yeah, you're right

Quote: "#4. His upper lip, take a look, its quite obvious, either you have a model with one FAT lip, or you just didn't do it consistant (personally i'm leaning on choice 2)."

From the expression on his face you can tell he's a hardened soldier, and he's probebly been knocked in the mouth once or twice.

Quote: "#5. Does he know how to shave? It seems as the hair on the right side is longer then on the left side of his mouth."

Yea, I can notice a slight difference with the left and the right side, but I guess this guy had no time to shave.
(or he doesn't know how to shave, lol)

Quote: "#6. His barret, you might of wanted to go rounded on that seing as i have never seen a soldoer in my life that has had perfeectly straight edges on his barret."

Yea, a couple more folds would've made it a little more realistic.

Quote: "#7. On his eyebrows, thew left one seems to be a bit cut off. The right one all bushy, the left has that straight part. It seems as if you were trying to align that eyebrow with the barret."

I can't really say much about this, eyebrows usually aren't going to be noticed much if this is/was a in game model

Quote: "#8. His nose is almost a perfect triange. He musta had some kinda surgery to do that one."

what can ya say, his parents were rich, and got him plastic surgery.
nose is a little perfect, but I'd just widen the top a little.

Quote: "#9. His nose again, is perfectly centered. Look in a mirror and at people around you, nobody has a perfectly centered nose."

My nose is perfectly centered. (lol, i don't what to say about this)

My overall point is some of the imbalances make this model look even more human(eyebrows, chin, cheeks)

Yusuke,

Chin dimple...I had a teacher in the fourth grade who had a giant chin dimple. It was only a little smaller than the one on that soldier.

Fat lip? You've obviously never seen a Stallone movie from the 80s or watched Elvis Presley sing.

The knife? Get in line. Others have pointed that out too (myself included), and Simple said he got rid of it.

You didn't even point anything important out, and I'm quite sure that if you posted a photo of yourself, people could find just as many things to nitpick about your physical appearance.

I also forgot to mention that Simple's model has already been C&C'd in a different thread, and it just looks like you're showing up the day after the party wondering why nobody's around.

Raven: "there wasn't much actual C&C going on there (you should know)"

I was under the impression that there was some C&C going on before the match hit the spilt petrol and Rich used the SCALE OBJECT PENIS (objThis, 100, 100, 100) command on all involved. At least that's how it was at the point where I offered some opinions on Simple's soldier, IIRC, and it didn't get truly ugly until a while after that.

Not really...I don't do the bandwagon thing. Too conformist for my taste.

I commented on Simple's model because at the time, my brain was on vacation and I didn't quiiiiite realize it. I even said as much in my second or third post on that thread, and things went straight to Hell one-way on the A Train afterwards.
