Well, i tried once. But i didn't see any spawn commands in the list of options when right-clicking the decal. But i'm sure it's possible by scripting.

I've looked through this thread and I've got to say it looks pretty darn nice. The lighting, along with the water texture, add an amazing ambience to this: it's got to be one of the most atmospheric games I've seen. It's just a shame you happened to pick the same basic premise as BioShock! Basically, the only thing you've copied is the idea of an underwater haven. In BioShock, Andrew Ryan buils Rapture, a city under the sea where only the greatest minds and the hardest workers will be invited. The city is devoted to ultimate capitalism, so that everyone will get what they work for. Your city sounds similar, in that it's an underwater city to escape from a society that the creator's didn't like.

I suggest you have some interesting themes beside the underwater city, therefore, to make it stand out against BioShock and make people who've played it realise it's not just a BioShock clone in FPSC.

But I particularly like the adventure aspects: it's been ages since I've played a good first person adventure game.

I'm not actually a Kiwi, I just randomly thought it up one day.

Updates comming up, I had to finish my PGPS entry before doing any more on thisone.
I have just started on level three and will post some screenies here.
The only problem is that I totaly have forgott how to change textures, I made a new texture for TerminalE but it only shows the orginal version.

I have, but its secret for now

And about the Bioshock clone, This town isnt going to win prizes for most clean town, higest political participation.
Its only for a "Lawless, funky world as it should be", you could do whatever you want and no law tells you what to do.
That way people dont have any laws to break and its not that fun any more to, lets say, kill anyone, steal things or robber old ladies. The perfect town.
I am going to do as much as I can to prevent Silent Depths from being called "a little to much Bisoshock"

Stay tunned.

Tomorrow I will finish level 3.
And I will try to change the story, but not to much. And if somoen got any suggestions for the story, dont hold it back. Everything that make this game not a "Bioshock copy" is worth to hear.

In Bx, (BioShock, since BS is not the most flattering abbreviation) there are scientific alterations made to people. However, I don't really remember any actual experiments: people have their faces re-done in the Medical Pavilion (and more, but I won't spoil it) but they're not actually experiments. This science lab is pretty different from Bx.

As for story, well the plague should play a large part in it. You could have a horrible irony: this city is the only place where you're safe from the plague, so you're doomed to stay down there forever! Hahahahaha!

I'm not actually a Kiwi, I just randomly thought it up one day.

Great Concept, style and execution

Love the look of this and the skybox you've created to set the underwater mood really comes off.

I'll look forward to seeing more on this.

Yeh this looks really atmospheric. I'll be watching this game

If you want level ideas, perhaps an abandoned prison? You could fall through the roof and get trapped in a cell or something, and the only way out would be through three doors. You'd have to find switches to open them but you'd have to complete challenges to reach them. It would be kind of security challenge where each room has a different defense system.

Meh...

Wow great video, very nice atmosphere! very impressed, and i have to say your game looks almost like it could rival bioshocks level layout, considering they are professionals and you, forgive me for saying this, arn't. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but it is a complement, just worded badly lol! once again great game!

I'm not going to argue the atmospheric stuff. It definitely is creepy too. The voices in my head keep whispering "Best of The Best." What I like about this game is that the only thing that lurks in the darkness is your own imagination.

Absolutely, feel free!

I watched the video - excellent work, you've really managed to push FPSC into making something of a great standard! I have two suggestions: (minor ones, really)

1) You get a native English speaker, who reads or writes a lot, to look over your grammar. It's perfectly understandable that the English translation is not totally fluent, but the trailer would have been even more immersive if, for example, you had spelled "comming" as "coming" and said "armour" or "armor" instead of "armors". These are all really little things, and I completely understand why it's not absolutely perfect, but it would benefit the project as a whole. I'd volunteer but I'm alarmingly busy as it is.

2) Can you die in this game? I don't think it needs any enemies, since it's essentially an adventure game, but I do think dying is necessary to maintain tension. Not around every corner (good lord, don't make it as hazardous as the King's Quest games!) but the mere fact that you COULD die would really add to the horror. If you can't die then the player will realise you can't die, and the game will lose a layer of fear.

But, good work!

I'm not actually a Kiwi, I just randomly thought it up one day.

Actually I have a swedish friend who has spoeken english in 5 years. He said I should let him take a look at this when its going to be done.

Its a good idea but I dont know how to do it professioanlly. I am going to do it in some way, like when you blow up a wall you could get hurt or die.

This is the sort of game where you could have somthing make you jump or have a cutscene where you hear a wierd rasping sound and see a wierd shadow...

I'd wet myself at that point - yes I'm a wimp when it comes to creepy games.

When you finish you SHOULD contact a company to publish your game. I'd pay about £12 for the full v. of that game - seriously. And I can do some basic modeling for you if you want =]

And one more thing - in an underwater city your missing somthing - A BIG FISHTANK! And maybe a swimming pool? A cinema and loads of other things!

Just suggestions - not demands. =]

A good idea to add fear are the strange noises that happen all around you, and maybe some near-death escapes from death.

Maybe some rattling chains, some sea mines, some other creepy maritime noises would do.

This game is looking pretty good. You've used lighting well to create a good underwater look. Of course, I must assume you were atleast somewhat inspired by BioShock. Since that game, everyone wants to build an underwater city for the elite. Casting that aside, this is quite promising.

Very Nice! I like this idea. Question, Are you going to change the texture on your "test tube" control panel? I noticed it said flight control. Also I was thinking maybe you could do a ghost type thing, like in that game beyond on the ps2. Just a thought. Keep up the work for noobs like me this stuff helps broaden the imagination.

I will change that texture, the problem is that it dont work.

Never played that game.

Quote: "Of course, I must assume you were atleast somewhat inspired by BioShock."

No comment I must say that a very little of it commes from that game, but I just wanted to create a empty game without enemies and the best way was to use an abanoned city.
But "real" cities mostly dont is abanoned (except Chernobyl but there you have Stalker) so I made my own city.

Here is what the last level will look like, this is just to demonstrate how it could look with a waterfilled level.

i have one thing to say...... this game has GOT to get BOTB!

By the way, what was the name of that song in your trailer BVG?? It's quite catchy!

Also, i think you should do stuff like that Beyond game, (@starmind 001). The "Hands-on HUD" is completely do-able!
