ok, basically, world is coming to an end. Im sorry but im very limited on what i can say because there is a lot of story to uncover. but, to sum it up. axes, machine guns, and the posessed galore. i though tthat making [u]most of the characters appear as normal people and seem no harm make it twice as disturbing. ill show you some screenies later to show you what i mean, but for now...
crap, i cant figure out how to put a screenie. can i get some help?

When you write a post, there is an 'attachment' field under the place where you write your post. Click 'Browse' and select the JPG image file you want to attach.

To take a screenshot, press the Prt Sc button on your keyboard, then open MS Paint, select edit/Paste, and save as a JPG file.

got another image. it isnt a screenshot but it is one of the biggest and one of the most important trademarks of the whole game!!! this is the symbol that lets the spirits out of the underworld to posses a human ( or animal ) host. Thats all the story u get, the rest is too important.

Well the level needs a ceiling.
And the Symbol could use some work. I'll make one for you same design a tad better then Paints spray tools.

here is some more story if you want to know. a few American small towns are all practically buried to the ground. people are killing other people, and strange "symbols" are written in blood all over every city. your name is jhon bishop, and you just happen to be passing by on the way to who knows who cares where. Then you notice something is wrong. as your truck is tipped over and you are being chased by the crazy people,( you find out why their crazy later ), you race 4 a mansion on the side of town. things just start to happen from there.

Most folks around here do care, some are on dial up.
Your image files are 2.92Meg simply renaming them doesn't do it,the whole point of jpeg is compression, these would be around 250kb if converted properly.

THe level is nothing special or atmospheric. The symbol is merely the stock blood splatter rotated, and after waiting 3 mins to look at the images, they were bitmap, but they weren't impressive.

Quote: "Thats all the story u get, the rest is too important"

Quote: "
i want to here what yall think of the story,(final) symbol, etc"

Well... had you actually told us the story, we might be able to give it a crit, but you keep giving snippets, of stuff that sounds like a pretty standard zombie/horror game. Not much story to comment on y'know.

I'll do my best with what you got...

here's what I gleaned from this:
1) A few small towns are for some reason, buried
2) Every city is covered in satanic graffiti
3) Neither you, nor I care where Jhon was going.

Just finally, did you mean to call him John?

sorry about the crappy atmosphere.i still have work to do. i no the symbol is the blood splat rotated, but i think it looks cool and its going to be in the game. yes i meant to call him jhon, unless you have a better name. ( im not going to call him wikitiki jugabaloo or something, hes just a normal guy. )maybe im not making much sense abou the story. when i mean the cities are buried, i mean like crumbling, old, crappy, etc. and the symbols bring spirits to come from the underworld and posess people.
"sounds like a pretty standard zombie/horror game"
p.s. they're not zombies. and its more of an action/horror.
so stop dissin me, im doin pretty good and the screen is OLLLLLD. way old. ill try to get around to posting a more modern screen soon.

This is the showcase right? The idea being that you showcase your work. WHy would you want to showcase WAY old stuff, if you have newer/better things to show?

I have to agree with the crowd here. As Simon Cowell would say, "Your're not ready."

sorry if i sound like an idiot, the game is going pretty good, believe me. but i am a noob at the forums. the story is kinda hard to explain and you really need to play the game for it to make sense. so, ill work on it, post better screens, and then... WORK ON IT SOME MORE.
P.S. cut me some slack, im a noob with very little people skill, if yall think the story should be edited, fine, ill try to think of something more professional without comletely rearranging it.

Any ideas for me (post or i will leave the story like it is)

here is a pretty cool screenie i took, and i think i got it in JPEG this time. this is like the first part of the first level when you first run into the mansion's main hall. its got a skeleton in the electric chair, and i thought that was one of the coolest parts of the level, so here it is.

The lighting is better. There is a clipping error on the scifi door in on the left (and why scifi). Why not use a table instead of a block aswell, otherwise you wouldn't be able to sit at it. For a "new to FPSC" project it's lookin ok. Much better than your first screenies. Why not try downloading some of the free content from the models and media board, and FPSfree? You'll get much less harsh crit if you have some stuff in your game that isn't straight out the box

o.k. heres a new screen. and im sorry there was something i call a grunt, its like a little monster that i did by taking the legs off of the dog on FPSfree. ill take a screen of that later. but 4 now..., o yeah, i changed the story, instead of some guy just happening to stumble upon the town, i made it to where you are a soldier in the military investigating a dissaperance in the area of a small town.

and, im not a noob at fps creator, just the forums. im sorry i dont have enough skill to tell or show yall how good im really doing, so ill try to make a demo soon, (note: the demo will be very short and only have the first level since i think it is enough. how do you post a demo?)

thanks Juzi, finally im getting some good word on my game so ill make the rest look just as good or better.

P.S. if you like the axe in the chest, this is good 4 u because youll se plenty of:blown up people, corpses hanging on the wall withh knives through their head (keepingthem up), people caught in a high voltage generator with electricity running through tham, people's heads slammed in doorways, and you no, all the things fit for little children

You didn't actually cut the legs off the dog did you? It's just that with the update error, the dog appears half through the floor.

It's looking better dude. The axe in the guy is a nice touch.

EDIT:

I prefered it when you were some random guy. Military is so hashed now. Every next game has been there, and I can't dig it anymore.

Why not take a totally new angle. Like you're an investigative reporter or better, a total down-and-out. You've got nothing left, your wife is long gone, your kids hate you. You work a crappy job in a horrible gas station downtown. You overhear some guys talking about some towns way out west where some kinky stuff has been happening, everybody dying, or running away. The place is like a looters dream. Houses full of expensive goods, and nobody there to worry about you taking them.
So you head out west to find this place, but when you break into a house on the outskirts of town, you find that not everybody left... and of those that stayed... not everybody died... but they should have.

So.. lets just say you play that first bit, in the house, and then a radio comes on in the house and a newsflash says

"In this latest from KMSBN news, the National Guard, along with a special infiltration team will be purging the effected area, in an effort to re-stabilise the region".

The military are coming, and they're going to shoot on sight. You can't head back to your car. That's where the army will be. The only option is to press on into the depths of the city.

This gives you a nice balance between the player fighting military types, and the zombies/crazies you already described.

dude, thats awesome! i might make it to where your wife and kids have been killed, though, instead of hate you. and you dont have a job, but the game starts with you all bloodied up in front of your totaled car, so your nothing special andjust a randomguy with no life who happened to drive through town. everything else is genious. and this story really fits because you do fight the army ( that was when you were a random guy ). and i already had the news tell you things in the game, plus youll here the people talk while your not around, i thoght that would make it creepy, you no if like you here someone (or something) talkin when you cantfind it until its sitting on top of you tearing you limb from limb.

im glad you like that screen. heres another.

o.k. heres something im almost positive very few people have thought of to do on fpsc: ALTERNATE ENDINGS. now, obviously, im not going to tell you what they are, but put simply. 1) you die 2) you live

heres the story: your name is jhon bishop. your a totall nobody: wife and kids killed, no one will give you a job, and you have no friends. during what is normally a lonely drive through the country, you stumble upon a little town, but something is wrong. strange demonic symbols are written everywhere in blood, buildings sre torn down and crumbling, and there is absolutley no life. no people, no animals, not even a bird fluttering around. all the sudden, you hear voices, talking so faintly that you cant make anything out and then LOADS of people surround you and jump on your car and you are forced to run to the nearest shelter: an old mansion on the side of town.on the news you hear something about the army is going to neutrilize the town with some kind of bomb a week from then.

ok do you understand the story now, if you dont, im praying for u.[b][u]

If you're surrounded and they're all over your car, how do you get out to make a getaway?

I like how you said you liked my story, then pretty much just re-typed your original one.

Butter Fingers, i didnt mean literally 100s, just like, a lot of people. gosh, yall take everything so literal. plus, havent you ever seen like, any hollywood movie? plenty of ways to get out of your car:1) just open the door with great force( which is what happens in this case) 2) take a gun, knife, or any kinda weapon and nock them off 3)climb out of the sunroof or something 4) punch one in the face and make a run for it.

P.S. i might not b able to make a screen for a while, the .exe doesn't seem to be working - -

I'm not going to get into a flame war about whether it's possible to get out of a car surounded by people.

Quote: "i didnt mean literally 100s, just like, a lot of people. gosh, yall take everything so literal. "

Ah. You meant a metaphorical hundred. The thing is, when you're writing a story, it is literal. You're writing literature. So if you say, hundreds, then we assume you mean hundreds.

Quote: "havent you ever seen like, any hollywood movie?"

Funnily enough I have. Unfortunately I wouldn't choose a hollywood storyline for the basis of my story. They tend to be quite formulaic.

You keep banging on about how the story is going to be great, and how you can't really tell us about it here because it will ruin the game, and it's hard to tell it etc. So thats cool. I've given my 2 cents. I'm not gonna criticise anymore.

dude, dont bail on me. the thing is im working very hard on this, i dont know many secrets or genius coding crap on this software, and yall have been doin this forever, and all i seem to get is criticism. c'mon peeps, it cant be that bad, ive seen worse.

Quote: "why not just keep driving and run them over"

well, if its only like 10 people that would work, but this is a lot of people so they would just block your car.

Quote: "...the other people wouldn't give chase, they'd stop and help they're buddy and call an ambulance"
do you need me to tell you the story again.

TRIPLE POST TRIFLE DELUX.
you naughty forum user you.

Alright dude. I'm sorry I got so critical. In all the things I've done on FPSC, the people who have criticised me harshly have usually been right. That's not to say I don't like praise. Sure it's cool when people say nice things about the stuff you've done. But the people who point out the holes in your work are the ones who will make you better (as much as you do probably want to stab them in the ear with a spatula).

I'm not deliberately laying into you..... ok I am deliberately laying into you. You've done some nice creative things with your level design (the axe for example), and you're making good use of the stock media available. I think that you could do a really nice little game if you worked hard on the story, and just kinda polished things off a little bit more.

when you say to polish things off a little more, i dont exactly get that. still ill keep working on it.the only problem is im trying to make a story but i dont no how to make cutscenes. i might be able to make a level/prolouge so that the first level could be the begging story. so anyway, ill try to get more screens, but since the .exe doesnt seem to be working ill have to take tgem from the "test game" thing on fpsc, so im just saying now these screens wont look as good.

p.s. its all good dawg

this screen is from the actual game ( not "test game").im sorry, but the dark lighting only appears indoors, outdoors, the light is kinda like, 6:00pm sorta.anyway, yall remember when i said instead of an opening cutscene i said that the first part would be a miniture level? well heres what you first see. tell me what you think.

i assure you that most of the town looks, flaming, burnt, crumbling, and blown up. this is the least-plain screen i could get in for the time being.

theres the mansion at the end, its the only 3 story, not blown up or flaming building in the scene. dont ask where the door is its covered by a little pathway.

yeah, for some reason the lighting doesnt come out as good outdoors. i had the ambience set at 8 (no, seriously) and there is a red light near the front entrance of the mansion that turned out ok, but i really wish it would be darker. do i need to change the sky or something? and trust me, i put a LOT of time into lightmapping. if you look at some other screens, youll notice the light.
