Forgotten The Game

By Cool Kid and Blobby 101

The Plot
This Game is a horror FPS game set
in the near past - 1996. You are Sam Holden,
a rich, British entrepreneur who's helicopter
flight into the countryside turns into a journey
to the center of hell as his helicopter crashes at
the entrance to an old abandoned mine.

@cool kid: i'm emailing you a new particle texture because the old one is too blocky.

The particles have been made using Zparticles and i am currently working on ai using Dark AI.

The HUD looks a little.... big. Looks nice, do you think you will be improving the graphical aspects before releasing? No offense but, somethings could use some work.

Also can you give some more detail about the game(I.E. What types of weapons will be used, what kind of enemies will there be, what will the game play be like etc.)

Your about to get pwned.

well, weapons will be more makeshift than anything else. in the first actual level you will pick up your first weapon. it will most likely be a pipe or something of the sort. i'm working on a system for weapons now. the first enemy is definitely going to be a gas ghost. a type of spirit trapped in the gas piping overhead. i will give more info later but i have to go now.

i disagree, i think it looks very cool. The screenshots have a certain feeling about them and i'm very excited to see more of this game

This looks interesting, but the first thing I see in each screen is the ridiculously oversized HUD. I mean, the only people who would want a HUD that big are almost blind. Try making the whole HUD 1/5 the size, and that might be a bit better. I mean, the HUD only has 3 bits of info on it to begin with!


And what are the controls for the game? Seeing as the y rotation never changes, I'm guessing you're using arrow keys. IF so, I strongly recommend switching to mouse view.

Edit: why would we sign up to you forums? Will you be doing anything there that wont happen here?

Actually thinking about it I've added the updates here not on the fourms!

Blobby 101 is the person who made the hud and has GUI Studio so unfourtunatly I can't change the size of the HUD. It does look BIG thinking about it!

Yes, the HUD is ridicolously big, but I don't get the people talking about graphics now. It looks pretty good if you ask me. Story sounds good too .

ok, i've remade the HUD, this time there is a second health bar - this one is for... a currently secret purpose. it would spoil part of the later game to tell you what it does so i will leave it at that. any more comments?
BTW: the top is cut off by accident and i couldn't be bothered to take the shot again.

A bit better, I was thinking even smaller though, like 1/10 of the screen, your hud is like 1/4.

Nice game

I think improving graphics should be way down on the to-do list though, because they are perfectly fine at the moment It's the game-play that makes it fun to play

The game looks good so far. If I were you, I wouldn't be working on a level editor just yet, as it would be the hardest thing to add, not to mention time-consuming. I would add all the crucial aspects first (Gravity, Controls, etc.)

I will be following this thread to check the game

yeah, i am working on gravity and collision but i'm having problems with it. i've already finished the level editor - it's only saving that is the problem with that. as the main game is set in a mine there is not much the level editor does except place mine sections so it wasn't too hard to make.

yeah, the logs do have a texture on them but they are not UV mapped so it looks kinda crumby.

why? whats wrong with youtube? i'm still trying to find a good screen recorder. fraps gives me 1 FPS camtasia studio gives me just as low and Hypercam has that stupidly annoying watermark that isn't even faded and the frame rate is about 10 which is also annoying.
does anyone know of a good one besides these?
