Has anyone found any hidden events in the Sims 2? I found one last night and I thought it was funny enough to share with everyone. If you have the Sims 2 University expansion pack, you'll appreciate knowing this. Create a young adult sim (or send a teenager to college). Send this sim to community lots and keep an eye out for people who wear black jackets with llama's on them. Make friends with a few of them, and some pretty cool stuff happens. I made friends with three or four of them and it happened. Anyway, the cool thing that happens: a limousine shows up outside, and a guy in a llama jacket will enter your dorm and put handcuffs on your sim, then lead you out to the limo. I was freaking out when that happened, lol, but where they take you is extremely awesome . It's a "secret society," sort of like Skull and Bones. You get something like 40,000 simoleons, and they have one of every career reward possible that you can use to boost your skills extremely fast with. You also get the "hack grades" ability when using the computer, although I tried this and my logic skill was low, so they stole my computer and fined me $450, lol.

Has anyone else found cool hidden stuff in the sims? If so, how do you do it? I heard you can get abducted by aliens, but I don't know how or why they abduct you, or even if they actually do. I also heard they can make your sim pregnant with an alien baby, but again, haven't actually seen it. Just figured I'd ask

My sisters person got kidnapped by aliens, and had an alien baby. It had green skin. It was kinda neat. Only happens in that weird town place.

That's not a secret event, really.

Its a secret society, and I think there might be a few more.

My sister is obsessed with Sims 2. I played it for a while, but I didn't get very into it.

It's not surprising. As generations of women in the world come and go, they are noticeably becoming more aggressive and violent. They feel the need to nurture 'fake' people in video games before they become real mothers and pull a 'throw my baby against the wall out of sheer anger' act.

Yeah. I made a character(male) on there and he got pregnant. It was funny.
And also from a site it says...
In the story for Pleasantville it says that it has been 25 years from the happenings of the original Sims game and Casandra Goth is grown and especially that Bella the wife of Mortimer has disappeared, but she has been found...
First of all run The Sims 2.
Then select the Pleasantville neighborhood to play in.
When the town loads click on the "Decorations" button and then select the category with the rainbow and hot air balloon with the label "Effects."
Now select the 'hot air balloon' and place it anywhere in the neighborhood.
Exit "Decorations" mode by selecting the "Houses and Lots" mode or the "Families" mode.
Find the hot air balloon that you just placed in the neighborhood and move and zoom in closely. You will see two people in the basket. Theres a lady in a red dress. Its Bella just as she looked in the original Sims game, but right next to her in the basket it appears to be a mystery man. Who could it be?

I don't like Sims 2 because I'm stressful enough already, and I don't want to stress about a virtual person's grades.

So the alien thing can't happen in a neighborhood that's custom-built? I've never even played in the pre-built neighborhoods actually, lol. How do you make the aliens come? I bought a telescope and I have my sim doing the "Stargaze" thing from 7pm to 7am every single night, but no aliens . He's in the science career track, does that matter?

I love the Sims. My other siblings and my girlfriend loved the Sims as well, before World of Warcraft came along and stole their souls. I have the University, Night Life, and Open for Business expansions... I want Bon Voyage (or castaway? Which is the PC version?), Seasons (it rains! So cool!) and *maybe* pets, although I don't know how I'd feel about going through the process of cleaning up dog poo all the time.

oh, you have to watch the news as well? I'll have to give that a try. That's the Sim Broadcasting Network right?

A friend of mine told me you can get killed while watching clouds or stargazing without a telescope. Allegedly a sattelite will fall from the sky and crush you to death. Is that true or is this kid making it up? lol if it's true, that's the coolest way to kill a sim by far!

No! That is not true.

Yes that is the one. Also if you use the "Boolprop command" You'll be able to make these things happen without the hassle.

Nothing to do with Allah. I find that comment, while it probably wasn't ment to be, slightly offensive.

Please, can we keep this conversation directly related to the sims and not start some silly gender war? lol Jane Doe is a girl. Good for her. Her gender, albeit male, female, or tree frog, has absolutely no consequence in anyone's lives but her own, and having a major conversation about how a girl has joined our community will do nothing short of making her feel alienated. It's not like we live on the planet Sausagia and women are hard to find , and it's not like she's the first and only female to ever grace us on TGC with her presence. And to flip out about the existence of a female is to suggest women aren't into games (read some stats, they're the majority of gamers these days, last I heard) or worse, aren't capable of producing them (and a few females on the MISoft Studios team would be pretty gosh darn offended by that notion, lol). So please, please make the next post I read in this thread be about the bloody Sims? Moving on.

If you hit ctrl+shift+c, and type in "boolprop testingcheatsenabled true" in the box that comes up, you can unlock a whole bunch of "cheats" I guess you could call them, really more like hidden testing tools for the developers I think. Anyways, to use them you hold down shift and click on your mailbox, which brings up a bunch of testing options from a radial menu, or shift click on the person and it does the same with some different options. Also, "move_objects on" allows you to place objects anywhere, such as a mirror in the middle of the room and objects in the street. "Aging off" stops your Sims from aging. Only time I really use those is when I'm filming something in Sims 2, which is actually a very good machinama tool. Let's you do all sorts of things like always make people happy, never age, do stuff with objects you couldn't before, trigger certain events, get all the clothes, etc.

Hah! That cheat is awesome Gil! You can shift-click people and spawn some really awesome items. And low-and-behold, there actually *IS* a satellite death in the game! It's only a small satellite, one square in size, but still awesome. There's also a "death token" in the game, although I don't know what that does because I turned it on and the sim wouldn't die. And a few other cool ones, too... your sim can be killed by a swarm of flies! I wonder what you have to do to make that happen, or if it's just a testing thing? I should create a super-poor sim, give him 3 cooking skill so he doesn't burn the house down, and run him on free will with no toilet, shower, or sinks. I'd guess the killer swarm of flies would have something to do with hygeine being low? Should be funny to see that.

Know what I'd love in Sims 3, or maybe in an expansion pack? Multiplayer, Spore-style. Like an option that allows other players to play in your neighborhood, buy from your shops, marry that one ugly daughter you've been trying to drown for several days, etc. There could be various options for each sim, like "can't be friends," "can't fall in love/ get married," "can't die in MP mode," etc. so that your sims are never stolen, murdered, etc. I should totally get money if they end up using that concept, now that I said it .

I can see why. The Sims basically comes down to a virtual drama series or soap series. The concept never hooked for me, although I certainly had fun accessing all that hidden stuff and just doing some goofy things for a few days.

However, although females are more and more prominent in games, if you just count games as we know 'em as games (so scrap all twenty-seconds to load online games) you'll find males are still in the lead.

I must say I was pretty disgusted by some female clan a few weeks back that only put pictures up of several members. When other members complained, the clans 'top' explained that putting their pictures up too would degrade the overal look of their website. Basically, they were too ugly. Hate it when things like that happen and while men can't fight out over the internet because we're physical, women can still bite over the net.

Eh wha? Casual games are, in fact, real games just as much as Tetris, Columns, Puzzle Bobble, Puzzle Fighter, etc. are real games. Casual games happen to be one of my favourite genres right now, as they're "pick-up-and-play for 10 minutes". My game WordTrix fits into the casual game market just fine thank you.

And here's some fun trivia: the casual games market is larger than the so-called hardcore 360/PS3 market.

Things change. While Tetris was a full-fledged game back in the games, and so was Puzzle Bobble, personally I do no longer count such games as real games. I can't really define what a real game is in my opinion, but I think you understand what I mean. That trivia fact is well known - but like said, I do not count them as real games.

I count them as random little funthings to pass time.

So... Does anyone here actually own OmegaBasic? That BASIC that TGC is selling for mobile phones and such... I mean, I've seen it at the main site, but I haven't seen anyone asking about it or anything...

OmegaBasic reminded me of casual games btw.

They don't sell it anymore. I guess OmegaBasic got bought out or something and they're remaking the program, but that was a good while ago. I have no idea what future plans there are for that.

Sorry, I completely do not understand what you mean. Is tic-tac-toe not a real game? Checkers? Or maybe it isn't, but Chess is? Bejeweled, Zuma, Tetris Attack, etc. are real games and you're the first person I've seen say otherwise.

In your opinion when does a game pass from non-game to real game? When it takes longer than 15 minutes to play? I'm fairly certain someone speed ran through Super Mario Bros on the NES in less than 15 minutes. Is that not a real game, then?

Not being snarky, but I'm really curious.

EDIT:

I was just reminded of fighting games, of which can take 2 minutes to play. Are they real games?

That's my problem here, I cannot really draw a distinct border between them. Most arcade-ish games do not fall under the category game anymore for me.

Tic-Tac-Toe, Checkers, Chess, Bejeweled, Zuma and Tetris Attack are no longer games in my opinion. They used to be, currently they're just pass-times for if you're bored during workbreaks or something.

It isn't timebound neither. Super Mario is a game in my opinion, certainly. Pong is not.

Like said, I cannot clearly distinguish when something qualifies as game. Any argument I could give could be countered by you, and that could be countered by me again. It would be an endless discussion, but I'd be interested to take it to IM or something.

There's a difference between hard core games and casual games, but they are all still games.
