Very simple to get the effect. But requires 1 or 2 settings to be adjusted.
First what you need todo is go to your setup.ini in the main dir edit this line:
lightmapquality=
To 50 or lower.I have selected 50 because it's the best. However watchout for going to high as you might get the light map leaking effect. However be warned of bit slower building times but it's all worth it.
You need to set the ambience to about 5 to 10 the darker the better.Because you want the grates to cast a good shadow it would require a large light raduis. The problem with that however is that you should keep the area below the grate unaccessable as the area will be super bright and colour light works.
The second part of the problem is your very limited on the ammount of light source you can use above the grate if you do use other light source don't match below the grate colour.
If you do need to add matched light sources try and keep the raduis away from the area the will cast shadows against the wall.
Once you have set the ambience select full light mapping other you will not get the desired effect it might still show with normal light mapping but not recomended.
However should your grate be a enetity you may use normal light mapping. For segments you would have to use full light mapping.
Either one works...
One other thing move the light up or down to get the angle of the shadows.
Any else that wants to try this or is having problems let knew know

Please note this was done with version 1.07 other version might support it but I can't help you with that.recomended version is between 1.05 and 1.07
