Hello i first came to this site when i thought i new everything and could make games like nothing, well i was wrong i don't know anything but i am willing to give FPS creator a try and here i am to tell you about the game i am working on and to give you some screen shots.

The game is called "Hostile Combat" it will be a zombie/horror genre.
The game is like any other zombie game well most zombie games i should say, storyline goes as so.

New story!!!!
Thanks to Butt Monkey for this new fixed storyline.
Here it is.
It's a normal day at work for you at "Human Body Technology Labs", the company in which you are head of security. HBTL strives to create new ways to improve the human body and allowing it to function better. Although their medical advancements have gained world recognition and approval, something else is experimented on in the basements of the facility. Toxic chemicals and waste are developed into weapons for the military. The powers of the new "Bio weapons" have proved more deadly than any bomb, infecting test subjects in unimaginable ways...
During a routine experiment with the weapons in Alpha sector, the equipment went out of control, exposing the scientists to massive amounts of radiation. Panic spread throughout the facility as the building was automatically locked down. Before you could reach the security block to manually override it, something smashed through an air duct above you, knocking you out cold.
You wake up to find the facility in ruin. Your fellow security guards lye all around you, mutilated, almost beyond recognition. Your only option is to take your side arm, and fight your way through the hordes of mutated creatures to freedom. The question is... do you have what it takes to survive?

Best i can think of XD

Its just like any other zombie game storyline if you think about it.
If anyone is interested in helping me here are some of the things you can help with.

Main Menu.
I can't seem to get the hang of it i have no art skill and i don't know what i am doing. If someone can design the main menu for me that would be great i would love to add them in the games credits.
For now i am using what the game execute gave me.

Video/Intro video.
I am not sure if i want to bother with this as for i have no clue how to really make one. If someone has skill in making videos/intros for games please let me know i will gladly add you to the games credits if you can make me one.
For now i am using what the game execute gave me.

Music.
If anyone is good at making music for games let me know id love to see what you can make for my game if you can make me some good music id love to add you to the games credits.

Sounds.
If anyone is good at making sounds for games let me know id love to what you can make for my game, if you can make me some good sounds id love to add you to the games credits.

Ill update the help section later as i need to move on with the rest of the info.

Game is not even close to being done. I got two rooms with stuff in it and i still need to add more and adjust them as well.
I just feel id give you all a sneak peek.
I will try to update you daily on what i make/accomplish.

Now on to things being worked on right now.

I am working on making the map itself its not going to be this small little 20-15 game play and the game is over, a lot of people asked me if it will, so i had to tell everyone it wont be a small game.

I'm working on making rooms, halls, even outside, tunnels, roofs and ect.

I'm also trying to find free models i can use as for i don't want to take the time to make them and i have tried before i suck a lot, so thats another thing people can help me with, if you have models or can make models let me know.
I'm also working on making pop up messages and game objective boxes
.

There is a lot to do so I'm going to get going and get back to work.
Feel free to leave a comment about the game, what you think, or what i can do to improve, or if you want to help.

This is also my first time showing others my work and what I'm doing so hopefully i didn't leave any important information out.

The screenshots seem to be broken on my computer...

It also doesn't sound like you know a heck of a lot about FPSC. My advice to you would be to just mess around with the level design and get used to how things work/what looks good, as well as browse the forums for free models and media to use in your games. If you do decide to continue with the game, keep us notified!

Best of luck!

Good luck with this project. Try the demo of fruity loops. It won't expire but you'll just have to make a track in one sitting and export. I use it sometimes and it works just fine.
Happy developing.

It seems as if i tried editing my post so the screenshots would show up, and after they checked it, they never put it up or something.
I may have to remake a whole new post on my game.

The pics show up for me.

Anyways, this is pretty good for a beginner. First, if you are using prefabs, then stop, make rooms using segments, so you can have odd shaped rooms etc. Also, the game looks a bit bland, add some more stuff in there. Third, no light source entity, you should make one. And couple more things
-Why are the rooms so big?
-The first pic has a table in a gigantic room, size it down..
-Make hallways in between rooms
-Give every room a purpose, cargo etc. The rooms shouldn't just be huge places with a box inside of em.

Its good for a start but you have some work to do..

EDIT: If you need any basic, static models just ask in this thread and I will do my best.

YAY! thanks to Valkynaz i now know how to make music.
I'm using fruity loops, very easy to use.
Hard part is, is making it sound horrorish.
Any ideas?
I want a trance sound, iv been working on a piece, but lets not let music get in the way of the main parts of the game.

Thanks again Valkynaz

Yeah during the time i was waiting for the post to show up and people to start posting i added a lot more things i just don't want to keep making screen shots for every little thing i want to wait till i think the room or area is done then take a screen shot.

One question for you though the segment thing never works for me.
I try making a hall way or a room and i test the game and theres no roof o_0 how do i make it so theres a roof?

What kind of models can you make?

Thanks for the help btw.

I agree with all that Puppy said. Your rooms look very generic and use only sci fi stock media. Really scale down the rooms and make them more interesting shapes, the game doesn't look as if it would scare me at all

I see you only have 1 red lightmap for the entire room. I suggest you read this:

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=113796&b=21

Lighhting is one of the key elements to a game. To a horror game, it's what creates the atmosphere, it's a necessity.

I agree with you all your helping out a lot but i took your advice i fixed a lot of it so it all looks scarier now trust me ill fix it up some more and take a quick snapshot and you will like it.

Thanks for the advice.

I need horror models but i can't find any arg o_0.

Ok i take that back.
I really really really thank you for the advice i placed the lights wrong thats why it looked not so good and i had them on the wrong settings.
I read the guide you told me to go read.
Thanks again.

Also, use as much custom media as possible...also remember your story boundaries, while the setting means you can't use WWII media, it would sill be plausible for you to use modern day media......

Also, have some Habitation areas, with nice plants and seating, etc.....Also, don't use the sci-fi corpse, it's too rigid and, well naked to fit into a dead body horror scene.......

Thanks guys this helps out a lot.
Iv been searching for custom media and models and stuff.
This will take a lot of work maybe i should slow down and focus on one area of the map/room and make it good then move on from there i already got 3-4 rooms, i need to slow down a bit.

Thanks guys your such great help i wish i could put you all in the credits once my game is done =P

Well i re made a whole new map, I'm going to make the starting room, its going to be like a military bedroom were the military units sleep.
I will work hard to make it right. It wont be a scary or horror room.
The next room/area will though.
So when i am done with it i will post a screen shot.

Thanks again for helping me get this right.
Now thanks to you guys I'm on the right path to making my zombie FPS great.

If in any way you want to help be a part of making this game, let me know.

Happy easter everyone!!

Good news iv downloaded a modeling program called milk shape 3d, i heard it was easy to use, so i downloaded it and I'm going to give it a try.

Other good news I'm once again remaking a whole new map and starting over because, i found some really good models that i can use to make my game better here is what i have planned.

I got some road segments downloaded so I'm going to start an outside section of the map were the player starts, i have streetlights, mail boxes, trees, grass, rocks and other outdoor things to go with it.
From there the player makes his way through the rubbish in the road (dead zombies, rubble and ect) to the lab.
What i really wanted was for a helicopter to drop the player down onto the road, that way its more realistic than just starting a new game and spawning there.

Thats about all for today.

For the helcopter, you could always simply have the player start in the air and just decrease the damage done when you drop. Put a helicopter entity above you and a heli noise.

OR if you wanna be fancy, dload staminas model pack and assign the ladder scripts to a rope or something, so the player has to climb down from a heli. I'm not actually sure if that would work, but i assume it would.

Wow Butt monkey i never thought of placing the player in the air and putting a helicopter above it. Thanks ill go look for a helicopter now.

New update the road is pretty long so I'm going to find a car maybe a bunch of cars for the player to ride in, also this gives more objects to put on the side of the road to make it look more real.

Yeah they look cool but its a zombie game, plus i had to re do the whole map over again because it wouldn't test, so this time i made it smaller, the rest will most likely be inside stuff.

The first sign i need is for the first room you go into.
I want the sign to be square the color/texture to be like a greenish slugish, dark green, color/texture, i want words to be on it, i want the words "Briefing Lab" For the size of the sign, make it medium, just big enough so you can see it from a good distance.

The second sign i need is for the second room.
Again make it a medium sized sign. Square. Color, blueish, dark blue, color/texture, put the words "Testing lab" on it.

Thats all i need for now.

If you can make these, id love to use them for my game, and add you into the game creation credits.

Having trouble with the signs you made.
I click the model and then this message pops up.
runtime error 7008 - object does not exist at line 13349

Do you know what might be wrong?

Edit: Here are some screen shots of the map so far.
I think i need to work on the outside part more, looks bland, with nothing there.

Heres the left side of the "Briefing Room".
-

Heres the right side of the "Briefing Room"
The Briefing Room is still under construction as for it is very glitchy and buggy at the moment, but i think it looks great.
-

The custom model of a garbage bag never made it in the pic so i thought id take a quick screen shot of that for you.
-

Heres a closer look at some of the custom made things i downloaded, in the pic you can see a Gum ball machine, water fountain, and a fire extinguisher case.
-

Heres a view of the outside area, i don't really like it, I'm going to need to work on that more, any ideas on how to improve?
-

Heres a pic of a custom phone booth i downloaded, it even makes a sound of being disconnected when you are next to it.
-

Heres a little construction site i put together i don't know if it really fits with the area but it looks cool.
-
Tell me what you think about the pics

Damn arg, how are they the first five... meh.
Ill have to experiment till i get the right ones.
Ill be back with the new ones in a bit.
I know your all excited and can't wait to see them.

And if you mean a large drop into oblivion do you mean the edge of the map, well yeah like i said i don't like the way i did the outside section and i need to recreate the outside section.

Sorry for all the confusion.

Sorry, I think I know whats wrong, you are missing a ".x" file. Since I probably cannot distribute the one I have from Firma since I didn't make it, I'll give you one I made. Download it and put it with the rest of the things I gave you.

Change two things-
change the "model" line to
entitybank\puppyofkosh(or whatever you used)\sign.x

That's for both. Now it should work. If it comes up without a texture then go to the entities properties and find the texture in
entitybank\puppyofkosh\Briefing_room_1_D2.tga

Sorry for it not working.

If you want I will put in a re-download so it works for you.

What you need to do to help with your Design skills is:

Walk around the world and look at all the stuff in the world and see were lights come from, how stuff in buildings are placed, were people would walk. anything you see any were.

Like the light comes from a lamp right?
not a lamp sitting over to the right and the light comes from 5ft over it.
Learn how to take the time to move your entities realisticly and make your rooms smaller or add some type of supports. (that will also help with FPSC lagg)

anyone can do it, you just need to take the time to do it.

Here is an updated version, it should work. you can just install these files. But for these to work you MUST put them into entitybank/puppyofkosh... sorry for the inconvenience..

As for the screens: I think you need more lights.

anytime, glad I could help, and just a question, is the briefing room where you get briefed or where a bunch of people get briefed, because you could size it down if its only you..and one more thing, I'd remove the candy dispensers unless..well why do you need em?

Were the player gets briefed.
I just have a thing with making big rooms haha.
For the candy dispenser if you think about real life jobs and ect, someone working there is bound to say "I want a candy dispenser in here so I'm going to buy one" it just adds a little humor apart from being scared to open the next door scared a zombie will jump out.
