My rig:

That's a slightly outdated photo; I now have an extra hard drive and an extra CD drive. Only one works, and only one is actually connected; the screws have melted into the case, so I can't remove them.

thanks...

Yeah, I will be getting an after market cooler if I decide to over clock the cpu. I havent been able to get the cpu to even run hot to where it kicks in the the mobo q-fan, so its not a rush. I may do some prime95 tests just to see. It currently idles at 32c, and under max load i havent seen higher than 42c. The northbridge is a different story.

Quote: "That white plastic majogger you connect all your power buttons, case speaker, reset button etc to. "

Ah, right, that thing - lol. Yeah I kinda liked it, and youre right, it did help, when I unhooked the wires the other day to do the hiding. I still cant believe that to this day the mobo and case manufacturers havent standardized a plug that goes to the mobo, without any thought required. The could even just make the case side configurable. This q thing is sort of a hybrid, in between.

Quote: "What do you think between the new sig and the old one?"

I like them both. I really like the colors and the theme of the V one, but at the same time I hate the hand gesture Stick with the new one for a while, and surprise us every so often with another brilliant sig Wanna make me one?

Quote: "That fan looks really loud!
CR is the noise on that beast?"

this is the quietest pc I have ever built, and its fairly amazing considering there are 4 120x25 case fans (1 intake, 3 exhaust) plus the cpu fan. The case fans all run at about 1000-1200 rpm so they are <20db, and the cpu hasnt ever gotten hot enough to trigger the q-fan to raise the cpu fan rpm, even in games like cod4 and crysis. The only thing I can hear is in games when Riva knocks the GPU fan up to 80% (idles at 60%-dead quiet).

Quote: "no, on CPU fans, generally bigger is quieter because they run slower(RPM), so less noise.
Stock Cooler runs at about 3,200 RPM were as my Blue Orb runs at 1,500."

this stock cooler fan idles at 1100 rpm, and I have it set to use the mobo q-fan preset of "Optimal" which keeps all the fans (case and cpu) on quiet settings (low rpm) when cpu temp is low, but will kick them up as cpu core temp rises. I have been reading about cooling and all sorts on overclock.net. Its a pretty great site with a lot of talented people that do all sorts of sick overclocks, case mods, mods, ghetto mods, cooling, etc etc. Anyone interested in this kind of stuff should check that site out. I joined as my same nick here, look me up if you join. we can +rep each other

@Nex
Nice, looks like all my past rigs, no where to hide anything. Get a few rounded 40 pin cables to replace the ribbons, and a few wire zip ties and you'll clean it up in no time, and improve the air flow.

for the record thats a 19" monitor, 21.5" diagonal includin bezel, and the height from the desk top to the top of the monitor is 20.75"

in other words that case is a behemoth!

Any money left over to get yourself a bigger monitor? I would think a rig like that would demand at least a 24" widescreen...

Looks great, I should really tidy up the cables inside my comp.

actually, I may need a new monitor because I am gonna slap together a pc for my daughter. When I do, she will get the 17" crt that is currently hooked up to my previous pc. If that happens then I am short a monitor, so I would move this one to the previous pc, Jess would have the crt, and I would get something else. I dont know about 24" but maybe 22 or something.

I may go crazy and get a new monitor and a new gpu and be done. Maybe a 9800 gx2.......

Quote: "Looks great, I should really tidy up the cables inside my comp."

thanks. cable tidy is always fun! and does wonders for the air flow too. I am considering getting a bigger case for my previous pc (not this one, god no!) and rebuilding it into the new case with better wire hiding and cables etc. That pc (the previous one) is still in use by me, and my wife uses it as a file server for her work. its a p4 3.2 but in a crappy case, running a new 8600gts. I want to do a mod on that thing as well. Either way if I do that I will take before and after pics, hehe...

If you're getting a 9800GX2 be careful, some of them such as the MSI versions SUCK. They have a bus Width of 256 bit. I expect a LOT better for a £380 card.

Most of the good brands have 512 bit which is worth it. The XFX version has it and I think BFG too, not sure on other brands. Just don't touch the MSI one lol

Sweet looking rig though, hoping to get something like that at some point, the case looks fantastic

thanks guys, yeah, I would never touch an MSI card, never have, never will. I have always used asus, or xfx (for cards circa 2004 or newer). both my current cards are xfx. they have a great policy, as long as you dont volt-mod the card - anything goes, without breaking warranty.

I guess to make things complete, and since my wife forced me into it so my daughter will have her own pc, and stop trying to climb into my wifes lap while she is working, I "had" to order myself a new monitor. Doing so lets me move this 19" lcd monitor to the previous pc, freeing up that 17" crt for my daughter to use. I wanted her to have a crt because its heavy - she wont be able to knock it over or drag it around, and since the screen is heavy duty glass as opposed to the delicate material of an lcd, if she pokes it with her fingers or say one of her toys, theres less chance of damage. The new monitor should be here tomorrow (one again newegg rocks - beat retail prices by nearly 100 bucks!)

as far as a new video card goes, I am going to stick with this one (8800gts 320 (g80)) until I see what pans out in june with Nvidia ending production on the 9800 cards and announcing 9900's. Maybe by then the 9800gx2's will do a severe proce drop, and I can grab one up for way less than they are now.
