Ok, i've almost finished my version of island, i should have it ready for dl by the end of the month. It is (unzipped) 300mb. There are about 40km worth of roads to drive along, challenging too, especially the offroad tracks.. Explore new parts of the island, go up Mt Isletop (large mountain in middle of map) and up High Hill (another hill in the map somewhere). I'll upload screens by tomorrow arvo. Thx.

All demo boredom is now over! I get crysis tomorrow! The first thing i'll do is make a new version of 'Island Mod' that i made and give it away free! Sorry about not posting yesterday, i was watching an overnight movie, a sad one too. I gotta leave for school. Also, i'll be away for 1 month as someone is hacking into my wairless and has downloaded well over 8gb, my useage is now 108% of 12gb, with an internet speed decreased to 30kb/s. thx all. cya

It's called editing your post, gamerdude. No need to post 7 times.

I quickly took a screenshot of Crysis on Very High DX9, 8xAA at 1280x1024. I've got XP and Vista, but I was using XP at the time, so DX9 will have to do. DX10 look great though.

You can kind of see the volumetric effects, I should have position the camera(player) better. It's great that the very high settings are so easy to unlock.

And how is this worse than your annoying one word posts "lol" all over the forum? This is not SPAMMING. He is on post moderation so he can't edit his posts, which you'd understand if you read his posts in the first place.

i wonder what would happen if i tried to run it on my current PC, (2 Ghz dual core, 512mb ram, and an nvidia ti 4200)

i have been able to run doom3 in the past on a less than adequate PC, but in the modern world the gap between adequate and not adequate is soo much larger

i wonder if my PC would explode if i tried

No, you would be able to go medium graphics, no aa, either 1024 or 768 resolution would be my guess. The processor truly is everything. I have a pc with a decent graphics card, 2 gigs of ram, but because of the single core processor I have to stick to low graphics.

Not quite. Regardless of how good your processor is, you still have to have a capable graphics card.

I doubt it could run it well on medium settings with a GeForce Ti 4200, it runs pretty slow with my GeForce 7500 LE.

Fine, the processor is 75% everything.
But without an acceptable videocard, you can't play at all, so...

the emphasis is on the video card in these situations. A graphically intensive game like crysis will do better on a good video card with a so so cpu, as opposed to the inverse. at the end of the day you strive to have the best you can in both departments, of course.

a game like crysis will be bottle-necked sooner by a slow gpu than it will by a slow cpu - but thats not to say you can run it on a 9800gx2 with a p4 1.7ghz and expect anything too good. and lets not forget the main ram and its role...

/me fires up crysis...

I hate all this talk about the graphics, I'm still running on ultra-low.

See attached pic to share my pain.

*SECURED* i'm back. ZekeGames, your screen reminds me of when I had vista, all on low! HINT* Put your physics on high, check your res (make sure it'/s lowest possible). Gd luck!

Anyway, I have it running smooth at 30-40fps w/ these settings:
All on ultra high except for Textures, Shadows and Shaders. I might upload some screens soon. Except now I have the full version. So it will run faster! thx

Gamerdude, I have my physics to med (so I can blow up houses) and res to 800x600 - I've already did all the smart configging I can do. This way I get a nice 30 fps.

For you, like I said, bump the texture size down to medium and put shaders to high. It will look WAY WAY WAY better.

Everything is gray? That may be a graphics card problem.

Actually, not any more! I have no choice but to have shaders on high now, or models are clear. Is there a way to fix that? 15-20fps, but playable! Also, when textures are on medium it runs MUCH slower than they do on high!

I have a 8800GT, 2gig Ram and a 3.7GHz Single Core. I can run crysis on High, DX9, 1650x1050 Res with ~25fps.

DX10 is an API. I don't think API's can be prettier than the other.
DX10 runs with better code, but graphics haven't gotten far enough to see any improvement.

Everyone, i've made a map that I'm going to be releasing called Island Infiltrator that features good AI, lighting and a good terrain. But I am enterring it into a comp and I cannot release it until it is over (copyright reasons.) here is a screen, watermarked as it is the loading screen. sorry bout that.

The only thing I've seen dx10 be able to handle that dx 9 cannot is basically object motion blur in crysis (blurring each individual object/parts of objects due to speed).
Also there is supposedly a very slight difference in very high dx9 and very high dx10.
