Disagreed.

Speaking of Vista not being any good, Microsoft recently ran a little test where they allowed people who didn't like Vista to try out a new, secret OS. They all loved it. Turns out they were using Vista all along and had just been taken in by the negative public image. Linky:: http://channel.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=14654

Some people can drink 30 gallons of Monster and sleep fine, others can't.

Some people can feel at home with Vista, others can't.

I hope people can accept the fact that people like different things.

What's with people hating macs?

Have they ever tried one?

Are they listening to other people just badger them because they have no idea what they're talking about?

Yes. To all three. Even the first one.

Mudkip?

MacsOSX is good, Windows XP SP2 is good, Windows Vista is good, Linux is good, I like the first 3, never had problem, except XP when it first came out, Linux I've not given a proper run - but not all of them apply to everybody's need or work how they want them to work...that's why you choose your preferred operating system. There's no elite. Anybody who says "OMG 'x' OS sux! It's stupid!" are very sad people; if you hate an OS passionately then walk outdoors, and stand there for 10 minutes - say "hello" to your neighbour, breath deep, let it out, walk back in and then return to your computer.

If you want to hate something, hate something that matters.

Aye, these idiotic OS wars are so ridiculous, it just amazed me that people take time out of their days to argue over something that's completely about personal preference, I mean, everyone gets what they think is better, and everything has it's ups and downs, nothing's perfect. It's just such a silly thing to argue.

Marriage will do that to ya. But seriously, I like having a clean work area whenever I start a new project - otherwise I just feel chaotic.

While we are on the topics of setups and I don't feel it deserves a new topic I was wondering:

What graphics tablet do you guys recommend/have? Of course, It has to be fairly cheap ~£50.

Aren't the Wacom bamboo range around that price? Wacom are supposed to be quite reliable - I've been tempted to buy one myself.

Anyone had any bad experiences with Trust ones?

I looked at a few Wacom ones. I'll see what else I can find via that link.

It's not a mess. Honest.

Dualscreen JavaScripting on a EEE... bliss.

And it still boots quicker than any other laptop I've seen.

Don't get anything but wacom. They are so much better than any other ones, sometimes you have to hold the pen straight up and you can't have natural angle. PLEASE don't get other ones. They may be cheap but they are crap!

I'm soon going to be purchasing a 7in touch screen film from DealExtreme for £25ish with a USB controller to be used as a drawing tablet. It works exactly the same as a DS/PDA screen, so it should work pretty well. Once framed, it will make a transparent (for tracing drawings I've done in pen) drawing pad on which anything (fingers, styli) will work.

And now I gota post mine. Hello all. =P Not new to the forums, I tend to frequent the GDK forum, but new to the Geek Culture forum. Here's my setup. I've got a sort of studio setup. Adding a keyboard (piano) in about a week as well.

The desktop holds two 8800GTX's, 3TB of hard drive space in a hot swappable array. Two 22" widescreen LCD monitors. One Wacom Cintiq in center.

Dell XPS laptop (first gen). Rather out of date now, but it's got an EE P4 processor so it's a hell of a workhorse.

Yes, 5.25" HD's, SATA interface. The array I used specifically is this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817994027

The reviews are kind of hit or miss on it, but I've owned this particular model for about a year and a half now. It's been extremely reliable, great airflow and works as advertised. Does everything I need and then some. =P

@pirogoth: fan of Megatokyo?

Nice setup, one of my old housemates had a Cintiq, but it was the smaller model I think. They are indeed very nice.

To all wanting to steal my Cintiq: MINE! *defends with Ninjas, Pirates, Zombies and Ninja-Pirate Zombies!*

RalphY: A lot of people think that, but it's not quite accurate. I've been using this name since my Quake 2 days. That's coming near 12 years now. Long before Megatokyo. =P (And to get technical, in Megatokyo it's spelled "Pirogoeth").

The way I came up with my name was rather embarrassing actually, and it didn't occur to me until several years later. I've kept it ever since as a reminder that I too can fail, hard.
