Quote: "Hello everyone,

On the changing banner, one of the banners reads "Book? I hate book. Book is stupid." but personally, I LOVE BOOK. So are anybody else book lovers here? If so, post to support the removing of it!

(Sorry this is slightly random and unusual)"

You don't get the reference of that quote do you?

'Book? I hate book. Book is stupid' is an inside joke of the community - given your join date I'm sure you haven't come across it, basically in the early days there was a programmer who wanted to learn DB but wasn't willing to learn, he just wanted the codes for making a game...of course it wasn't as civilized as I seem to be making out, his grammar was terrible, he gave insults, but most of us have seen the thread and it's an amusing read.

Book? I hate book. Book is stupid. Was his response to one of the helpful comments he recieved.

Whooooooooshhhhh

That was the sound of something going over your head.

That banner represents something from the very foundations of this community that a lot of the oldbies remember well. There's no way they'll get rid of the banner, might as well ask Iron Maiden to loose that Eddie guy.

It's become a cornerstone of the TGC community, remove it and everything falls apart, total anarchy will be an optimistic scenario.

If you put it like that Granmda, then I petition to ban anyone who says anything against the banner. Removal of the banner will not mean TGC riots and anarchy, but war against Bosnia too.

I'm sure most people here love books...you learn things...BOOK HELP YOU LEARN TEH CODES!

If you ever knew what the alternatives were, you'd prefer it too. You cannot even begin to comprehend the structural power that is idle within this abyss of the internet. The removal of such a dominant hallmark will tremble at the very core of this abstract structure and leave it cascading like water with no creek to call its own. The once idle power will flow without borders, without rules and without logic.

So if I were you, I wouldn't joke about it.

What about DrewG? He was brilliant! Man I miss that guy - he just loved the Navy SEALS to a dangerous level, as was his deluded perception of patriotism.

I say he was brilliant, but he was a handful and mellowed out by the end, but was a hot head, but his threads are worth a re-read if you're the kind of sicko who lives off these things.

Banning DrewG was like the thought of deleting the 'I hate book' banner. It just shouldn't happen.

But like all good entertainment he needs to be dealth with in moderations and there's only so many bans and slaps a moderator can give before losing the will to live. I'm just waiting for the next crazy guy to come along, there's bound to be another...

Anybody volunteer? We need somebody who hasn't built up a reputation, a newbie - Alucard? I nominate him, otherwise Punk13...I dunno I wonder what madness a Swedish person could conjure, Zenincanin had Bosnia power, Drew thought US Navy SEALS could own the world and well...is Abba a force to be reckoned with?

I feel honored to be offered this huge possibility to rule! But as of now I give the flag upon someone else on these epic boards of TGC'ness. And besides, my Swedish madness would just go over my head and eventually consume all of TGC!

I wouldn't say it was the early days (I've been here since 2000, and a fair few have been here longer - Our join dates are for Apollo, not the forum before it), and I wouldn't call him a programmer...

That was also very funny, that thread.

I don't know which I like more, that or the "I hate book" one. They're all good.

I suggest anyone reading anything of his, to read it, thinking in a french accent...it makes it more amusing, given that he's french I had to put it in the context of things.

I loved how massive his signature was as well.
But at least he is back and has improved since his departure!

I think most of us can look back on our older threads and think:
"Was I that much of a tit?"

In my earlier days, I did my fair share of noobing about the place. (Not much has changed though )

In one thread awhile ago, a moderator threatened to slap whoever says his name.

So since then I have come to call him "you-know-who" or "The-user-whose-name-must-not-be-uttered-or-you-will-get-a-slap" if I have time to type it.
