There are times where you just want to relax and not worry about anything. What are some of the optimal conditions for you to be truly relaxed? For example, I'm most relaxed while laying out under the stars while listening to Coldplay.

I am most relaxed when I am with my girlfriend.
Or when I'm lying under the stars wondering what secrets lay beyond earth. Each star is a sun, makes you wonder, and its obvious we are not the only ones in the UNIVERSE alive...Just look at the stars! Biggest mystery...Yet it makes me more relaxed than ever...

The only way I'm ever relaxed is while I'm playing Halo. Halo isn't a very relaxing game, so basically I never relax. Then again I'm just stressed out out of my f***n mind right now. (Girlfriend troubles, don't ask lol)

I won't.

Lol.

Best way I relax? Hmmm. Take a nap. I usually sleep deeper and harder during naps that I do at night, so I wake up uber refreshed.

Hanging out with my girlfriend makes me pretty relaxed too. Snuggling up another warm body is the best feeling in the world to me

Relax? What is this word? Me has never heard of anyz word named Relax!

For me, I get relaxed by taking a break from whatever's bothering me and browsing the TGC Forums!

I have two ways I relax. One is chilling out with my girlfriend(seems to be a common method).

The other, is I grab my CD player, my smokes(bad habit, but it helps me mellow out), and go sit on the back porch, have a smoke, and listen to music. I just like to look around, observe things, that you never really see unless you sit and stop to look at. I also think happy thoughts, as funny as it sounds. I just sit there, listen to music, have my smoke, and think about whatever's been going right lately for me, or what I plan to have go right.

I'd recommend all of the above, minus the smoking part, but that's all what I do to chill out.

Another thing I've noticed that really relaxes me is walking around in nature, preferably deep forests, and just look at the beautifulness of nature just really really relaxes me. It has to be the most awesome thing to do ever.

Opeth is a good relaxant, even with their heavier music (when I could sleep one a couple of occasions I stuck on their Still Life album and it helped me sleep. ) - though I don't relax as much as I ought to (after the stress related problems I had a year a go) but meditation listening to a good piece of relaxing music is groovy - though I need to learn how to meditate properly.

Alternatively grab a book and a comfortable seat, kick your legs up and again, music (you probably can guess almost everything I do involved listening to music somehow) and you can chill.

Dire Straits in surround with the back speakers set to "reverb" and the subwoofer purring at my feet. That's how to relax.

Going outside when it's dark in very light rain or just after it has stopped raining. I live in the middle of nowhere so night time truly is very peaceful. It's a nice cool temperature at night and I can hear the rain falling through the leaves of the trees and I can smell it on the air. When it's like that I can stand outside for as long as I want just thinking about whatever I want or just letting my mind empty and getting a bit of time to not worry about anything. Good times.

Alternatively, sitting on the toilet.

I relax by rolling around in a large bowl of custard, wearing my finest evening attire, smoking a Davidoff cigar and listening to the works of Glenn Miller on the wireless.

But seriously, I usually relax by photoshopping something, whilst listening to a few tunes.

... Agh. So if someone has kidnapped your mother (For example.) and calls you and wants you to give him a lot of money or he will kill your mother. And you have to give the money within 24 hours, you would just say "Meh, why do it today when I can do it tomorrow!" right?

I just don't like that kind of attitude hah No hard feelings.

I would. (it's his mother, not mine, so I'd remain apathetic about the whole thing)

Though I don't let anything really bother me, most of the time when I post on the internets I'm calm - though I have come to the laptop angry or drunk before, never both, though I've been known to rant when drunk, luckily for you lot, not on these forums...mind you I've ranted when sober, so I guess I can let some things bother me, so y'know.

However, I think one thing that makes me warm and fuzzy, which in an indirect way is relaxing (relaxes your mood) is to hug strangers that draw attention to themselves (either stopping people in the street or dressing up in funky costumes): my last victim were the Samaritans last weekend - I kept walking passed and I felt guilty, so I went to give one of them a hug - he really appreciated it too.

Though you do need to be a good judge of character to do such things, most people near where I live have an expression on their face saying "hug me and die".

Reminds me of the Free Hugs video...which was a part of my gaming name for a little while...hehe. Me and a couple friends went around offering hugs one day, you really have to be careful who you offer to, some people really don't like hugs apparently...

Girlfriend, definitely. But, that method has been ruined, as of late. So, Final Fantasy has minimally filled that gap for now.

One of my first games was Dragon Warrior, for the NES. So, listening to music and playing an old-school game like FF1: DoS really helps me relax.

I would have to third that. But it's also acceptable during heavy rain, wind is a great bonus.

Listening to the faint sound of thunder far far away is soothing for me, especially if its raining (not very hard, just hard enough for the sound to drown out most everything else).

Gawsh that sounds so good right now!

Well I whip Atlas Shrugged and read five pages. Just so I know I can keep doing that for the next god knows how many years. (Maybe only months)... I've used this method about 20 times so I only have like 900 pages left.

I also set up a 'relaxing song' playlist

It includes:

"Hurt" by Nine Inch Nails
"Don't Hate Me" by Porcupine Tree
"Reverie/harlequin Forest" by Opeth
"The Little Things Give You Away" by Linkin Park
"Paranoid Android" by Radiohead
"Lights in the Sky" by Nine Inch Nails
"Videotape" by Radiohead.
"Right Where It Belongs" by Nine Inch Nails

Although now that I look at it's also a very depressing playlist.

If I want to relax I just listen to my good ol' redneck country music. The really slow songs help me relax. But as of right now, I'm high stressed and music ain't helping.

Tell that to No More Sorrow. The 18-second outlash by Chester is friggin' amazing. He can actually do it live, you know, and it sounds almost identical!

Spending time with the significant other is usually the best way...but as we all know that isn't always an option. Especially when you currently lack one.

Currently I relax by playing the blues harp, playing Quake and coding. Yes, I find coding relaxing. I started coding as a hobby, so it's always been a source of entertainment for me. =P

driving relaxes me, as long as i plan for a busy, yet stress-free route. the concentration required to keep me alive combined with late friday night BBC Radio 1 is enough to take my mind off anything

problem is as soon as i get home, the adrenaline wears off and i'm back to my stressful state again this is why during last summers exam period i spent £30/day on fuel

Quote from the "No More Sorrow" Youtube description:

Quote: "And for those of you who doesn't like the "Minute To Midnight" album. Just accept the fact. If they make the same style of music everytime, it would be pretty boring, right? "

This is why I don't like it (aside from the fact that I don't like the style): this sort of style brings in many MySpace-dwelling idiots. I'm not calling anyone here an idiot. I'm simply saying that a large portion of the people who started liking Linkin Park because of this style change are the really stupid teenagers like the author of the above description. Notice:

Quote: "And for those of you who doesn't like the "Minute To Midnight" album. J(, j)ust accept the fact.(<-Nonsensical sentence in this context.) If they make the same style of music everytime, it would be pretty boring, right?"

I found Linkin Park's earlier stuff alright, but I've heard a couple of newer songs and it seems they've ventured towards depressions like a lot of mainstream bands - like Green Day is at the moment (They were a crazy American new-wave punk band and now they sound like they want to slit their wrists)

I don't mind change it can make music good, (I listen to Therion, they seems to have different singers each album and the style changes a lot - they started off as a death metal band and now they have opera singers, a symphony and a folky sound to them - instead of a death metal singer in the lead, they have a power metal singer and it sound great, they did it because they play what came to them and what sounded good) but when a band drops their own sound for the style that sells then it gets bland, it loses what made their music good. If I was a Linkin Park fan I would have been disappointed, like I was for Marilyn Manson taking on something bland after Holywood or how Trivium decided to start imitating Metallica, despite selling a great first album that was really popular, as soon as their single "The Anthem" was released I could almost insert Metallica lyrics and they worked - even rubbed off when they played their old stuff live (using the Jame Hetfield impressions instead of singing how they did when they wrote the songs)

Honestly, for me to relax I do the same things a lot of you like to do. I love just after a rainfall when it's overcast, and to take a walk in the cold air.

Also, I will make a pot of coffee (or two) and listen to music or podcasts and play online logic games. Clears my head.

For me nothing is more relaxing than pounding some hardcore single track (on a mountain bike btw). You can't thing of anything other than your next line. Then you can go home and sleep thinging that you have accomplished something (while relaxing)
