Not coming out for the wii.
Looks like the graphics have taken a step up but I think the realism hasn't increased with the specs needed, the choosing weapons is done on the fly should add to the tension but I liked it better when you could take your time in the attache. The co-op looks great, but playing alone seems to create more tension. I noticed that there seemed to be a lot more automatic weapons this time around, personally I thought it was better sticking to hand guns and then a shotgun and sniper. The way the medical spray actually gets sprayed on you.
What are your thoughts?

Can't wait for the game, but that trailer sucked. It barely showed any enemies or gameplay. This one is much more intriguing, and more Resident Eviley: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OclVQoStcpw

Yeah I've never liked choosing weapons on the fly, no matter how realistic it is...

Agreed. This looks to be the best R.E. yet...

People thought it was racist because all of the zombies were black, though I don't quite understand it myself, unless they're in settlements where there would be a few white people, then maybe a few white people would make sense. Previous Resident Evil games didn't have many black people in them, I think the cry of racism is itself indirectly racist itself.

Maybe they've worked around it by having white gun dealers or missionaries.

With Left4Dead, I love it, especially when playing online, jumping the survivors playing as a hunter can always be fun.

I can't wait until Resi Evil 5 comes out, not played 4 yet, so I don't know what this 'change' in the way the game plays is like, but as long as it has the Resident Evil atmosphere and the sense of hyper-constriction when fighting - if you can run and shoot, then that's a bummer, it'd just make the game easier and more like an FPS. But from seeing the trailers, it looks cool.

I just played the demo and I can't really say I liked it as much as Resident Evil 4. I thought that one rocked. I don't like the idea of the on the fly cache crap. Its stupid in my mind. Its really hard to, because its really fast paced. The Zombies run at you REALLY fast.

I agree Robert... I didn't enjoy the demo at all, which really surprised me as I have loved all the RE games. I'm not sold on the co-op play either.. If anyone has a 360 and the RE demo maybe we can arrange a time to try co-op, maybe that will make it better than playing with the AI.

Yeah I know, it just didn't feel like Resident Evil to me. They really weren't zombies at all... Plus another thing I realized is that you can only hold so many guns, but in the past ones you could fit as many that went into your cache...

Yeah, I'm not sold on the new inventory... I liked the old case system... The lack of zombies didn't worry me as I assumed these guys were the same as the ones from RE4...

I've played a bit more and it was a little better. I think I'll reserve judgement until I play the final product, but something definitely felt off...

I had a similar feeling when I put GTA:SA in and played it for the first time. For the first half and hour or so I wasn't happy and then suddenly there was an awesome mission and I fell in love with the game, so I'm hoping to have a similar wow moment with RE5...

Yeah I replayed the demo and I actually liked it better the second time I played it. It felt more like RE then. Still dont like the case thing though.

I've got to try the demo for this, I've never played a RE game before and I've heard they are pretty good.

Out of curiosity - what's the "scare factor" when it comes to RE (in general)? Is it anything like FEAR?

RE isnt really scary to me at all. The older ones were alot scarier. FEAR is WAY scarier. Try RE4 though. It was a GREAT game. If your looking for Scary though. Stick with FEAR

This was boring...5 minutes after firing a demo up with a mate, we went back to TF2...

It doesn't have any scare factor at all...

No it doesn't really. It has rather evolved into an action game.

Not a fan of the series, but IMO RE3 also didn't have any scare factor, but it still was a great game...

Tried the RE5 demo, I was a little disappointed. It did seem to be focused totally on action rather than scare, but that wasn't the main problem. For one, switching weapons is a real pain - I don't know if there was a quick-swap button I was missing (probably) but when I was trying to switch to my shotgun while my pistol was empty I ended up getting killed. The fact that I lasted as long as I did with about a dozen zombies and some big executioner guy all over me is baffling - it seemed like they just took turns attacking me, and even then, if I got knocked down, they completely ignored me. And the guys with the crossbows or whatever never seemed to fire.

I'll go look for one of the older ones at GameStop sometime, see if I can get some use out of that dusty old Game Cube. I imagine they must be pretty cheap now.

Re4 on gamecube was a masterpiece: great visuals that still hold up today and great game play and story.

I thought it was pretty good, though its no longer a scary game which is a shame. I quite like the new inventory system, makes it rather hecktic when using healing items that havent been placed in the shortcut boxes. Oh yer there are shortcut boxes that are marked so you can use dpad to quickly change weapons.

I did have a problem with the controls, didn't seem to fit in my opinion. Hopefully the ai will be improved too.

Oh! That should make it alot easier. I never even touched the d-pad.

I just replayed it knowing about the d-pad thing and it is alot better now. Actually now that I am used to the controls, its really awesome! I actually do like this a little bit better than the older ones. The only thing I liked about the start>cache thing though was that you had to think about it. You had to think what you were going to need and not what you wanted to bring. Then again it never really made since, because there was no case on his back or anything. The guns were just magically with him.

I think part of the problem with the demo is that you're thrown in without the initial 'tutorial' you would have if you started the game at the beginning.

I didn't know about the quick weapon switching, I didn't know about making the big enemies stagger and then running in to melee attack them... These are things that by the time you would get to these set pieces you would know about already and so wouldn't have as big a problem...

After playing through a few times now I'm still not convinced about the co-op gameplay. The AI wasn't good enough to really be of any help and when I played it with someone it all got a bit messy... Hopefully the AI will be tighter on release...

I think with RE4 it moved from survival horror to an action type game, which I don't have a problem with... I like every game in the series (excluding the light gun games) but 4 is my favourite. In my opinion the Wii version is the best version of 4, a Wii game where the controls actually make the game better!

I'm actually glad they take so long to attack, I have trouble with re5, even tho I beat 4. I'm personally gonna be getting it, specifically for the 2 player factor. It's fun when you and a friend get on 2 sides of the same... thing (whatever they are now) and just keep knifing, it just spazzes and can't do anythiong about it, lol.

My friend complained about the sharing ammo, but I like it. It's more realistic, and add's challenge and strategy to the action oriented game. And I definatley like the on the go weapon switching, and reasonable inventory. In 4, by the time you got the largest case you could hold like 8 rocket launchers. wtf!

The PTOM gave the game a 5/5 stars. I am not sure if the game will be that go, but it does look promising to build on the old school co-op feature often forgotten and never used in today's games.

The bosses and story do look very astonishing though. I will be purchasing the game same day as the release.

It's ok... Not that great. The co-op is the only reason it's any fun. I'd get so bored in single player only. It's trying to be an action game, but failing IMO.
