Geek Culture / Has anyone ever done anything THIS dorky?

I'd like to apologize in advance for this thread being a bout a girl...but don't worry, I'm not looking for relationship advice (this would be the last place I'd do that..), I'm just wondering if anyone has ever done anything as dorky as I did last night.

I currently really like this girl who unfortunately lives around 80 miles away from my current location. How we met is relatively simple, we both worked at the same Renaissance Faire for two summers in a row and slowly became good friends. This summer looked as though she like me back. At the end of the Faire there is a party that the cast attends. Her and I danced, she asked me how I truly felt, so I told her the truth. She completely denied liking me back. While this did sting, I knew that if I acted up over it it would most likely result in us not being friends anymore. So I just stood there, taking it, trying to figure it all out. I haven't seen her since then, and that was nearly three months ago now.

But, we have been chatting practically non-stop over facebook. About a week ago she told me she really misses me, which made me very happy. She was definitely hinting that she did like me back, but I didn't say anything else.

Just last night I was talking to her. We talked about how we both love snow and Christmas and taking walks through the snow.
Well, to make a long story short, I asked her if she would like to take a virtual walk through the snow with me. She accepted.

Afterwards (we 'walked' for nearly two hours, yikes!), I felt so dorky...I asked her what she thought of it, and she said she thought it was funny, not lame at all.

So, has anyone else EVER done anything like taking a virtual walk through facebook chat?

Sorry for the long-ish post everyone...

I will give you this: it takes guts to post that sort of thing here.

But, the fact that I haven't done anything that dorky is more due to the fact that I haven't founded an awesome dorky girl yet, rather than the lack of "dorkiness." v.v

How do you take a walk through Facebook chat? Unless you narrated the walk?

I narrated the walk...at one point I said we encountered a giant cuddly polar bear, and then later my departure was possible by my ability to fly, Douglas Adams Style. Yeah, I know...

It all really comes down to what you are looking for.

If you are looking for a possible long term meaningful relationship, let me warn you that if this girl lives that far away and you do not see her often, you will spend many a night alone by yourself. Also when some hunkey local that fits her needs comes into her life she will NOT remain faithful Why should she? You live 80 miles away. Either way in this case your walk on the facebook snow is ok... It shows your creativity, and also that she means enough to you for you to risk looking like a bafoon to make her smile...a smile that you can't even see... Keep on that road then

Now...if you are looking to just well...rail her... Go visit her for the week(or weekend) and go out with her to a local hotspot (NIGHT CLUB) Alcohol will give you confidence... now this is where a wingman COULD help, but avoid bringing your friends. This is real life not "sex drive" and if you get drunk and say "Me and Bob are gunna Pig-Roast you" you just blew any chances... if you don't know what Pig-Roast means then you are too young to even be reading this part. Be confident, but not cockey, pay attention to her, and dont talk about anyone that you talk to on the TGC forums... no matter how many shirts she owns that say I <3 Nerds... that is false... With this scenario your walk on facebook can be hit or miss... she might think its cute, but she might think your a loser for it...

Either way, I hope all works out well for you man

I'd like to give you some relationship advice. But curse you for not allowing me!

I often play "smarter mind" with a woman on facebook. Of course, it goes without saying that I have won OVER 9000 of the OVER 9000+1 matches we've had. But virtual walks? No. That's just wrong.

What if we make this like that other old Girlfriend thread by whoever. That one was pretty hilarious to read through.
Anyways I usually sit at home in my Harry Potter costume and have virtual conversations with pretend non-fake non-existant MSN contacts and pretend I have real friends.

While wading through all the junk in this thread, that's the one comment I could think of to really say. If you like her a lot, and she doesn't show interest, but wants to be your friend, no harm can be done. Don't push it on her, if she grows to like you as much as you seem to like her, it should come naturally. Plus, there's nothing wrong with having just a really good friend.

Sounds like someones on a direct route to the friend zone. Shes taking virtual walks in the snow with you on facebook while shes probably trying to figure out who the guy she made out with at the last party she went to was with her girl friends on MSN.

And if that's the way it's gonna be, that's the way it's gonna be and I am willing to accept that. I'd much rather keep her as a friend than attempt to force her into liking me back.

She's not like that. Trust me, I've known her for nearly 2 years now. her entire family says she has never acted like that, her friends say she never acts like that, pretty much everybody in her life says she's never acted that way over a guy before.

I should mention this...

I spent just about the whole day yesterday (Tuesday) locked in my room, playing my guitar. I ended up completely writing a song(just the melody then), then I took a break (because we had to start doing school. I'm home schooled, you see). Later I returned to my room, closed the door, took out my MP3 player because it has a recording capability and played the melody. Then I listened to the recording to write the lyrics. In the beginning I knew I wanted to chorus to have something about 'gorgeous eyes'. So I wrote it around that. And yes, I wrote it for her.

Sorry to go on a rant about that, but I just thought I should mention it.

And? It's not like anybody can know what she's thinking. Not saying she is like that, but you can't say she isn't either, no matter how well you think you know someone.

I could give an example. I've known a girl for 7 years and I was so sure she was the "quiet librarian" type. But it turned out she's a *bad word*. Sleeping with guys for "fun" etc. So I was a bit heartbroken, even though we weren't dating. Didn't seem like the type at all.

That's awful when that happens. I pray everyday that I don't blow it with her, and that she's not like that. You have a point there, Grandma. Nobody can know what she's thinking. Although she treat her sister to pretty much every secret she has...lol. I know that because I talked to her sister about the whole mess a couple of times.

That may be dorky, but NOTHING, and i mean NOTHING, is more dorky then what i just pulled off with no one looking. I turned on some Within Temptation, Our Solemn Hour, and i did this sort of sadistic spider crawling jump-all-over-my-bed swing from my fan dance, it was totally dorky, and lets just say well if someone saw it i would be forced to jump out the window.

Just show the chick your Yo-Yo collection, Get her an ergonomic keyboard, and show her how you can type 150 words per minute. Then shes ALL yours.

You look too young to be thinking about a serious relationship, don't let her be your only hope, branch out a little if she's being awkward about it. You tried getting a number and phoning her, over the internet is so impersonal...

That song idea sounds cheesy, i've written songs about specific girls who i'd been with for a couple of years but i would never play them for her. They problem with songs is that to make the song interesting you usually exaggerate feelings to get a message across, it may end up scaring her off.

Failing that, rohypnol works a treat.

I once drove an hour to comfort a girlfriend of mine (not going out just a friend who is a girl), I don't know is that kinda dorky? We went out for coffee and food and then just hung out and cuddled, she felt better.

Where can I meet this girl? Kidding, I'm married

@Yodaman - I wrote a song for one of my ex's and put it on CD for her, but we had already been together for a long time, and presented it to her for Valentine's Day. If you sing her this song you wrote for her now, she might think it's a little creepy and stalker-ish.

I've done something drokier... or at least stupider.

I once fought with my friend Mike (AKA Geryon) over a chair. Yes, a chair.
We were playing SSBM, and I got up to get a drink. When I got back, he was in my seat, and he refused to move. We got into this whole huge argument over who got to sit in the chair(because it was closest to the TV), and it cracks me up when I think about how stupid it was.
Granted, we were only 12 back then, but it was still really dumb.

Of course.

But she's a bit young for you anyway. Heh, I think that made you feel pretty old... Anyway, I'm personally invited to her birthday that comes up in a week, so I don't know what I should expect.
She tried to get me drunk when we watched "The last Samurai" once, even though she knows I don't drink. I'm hard to get, you see. I'm not interested in sl**s anyway, but it's not like I can tell her that, being somewhat of a friend and all. It seems I could use some anti-girlfriend advice.
