Hello, one and all! I am presenting to you a new game for 2008-2009: Automatic. I have a storyline written out already, it is below...
"To: vmarbourough@bctc.gov {Vincent Marbourough}
De: rtrezkya@bctc.gov {Roman Trezkya}
Subject: Vatra
Vince,
Was at the CIA meeting today. I did not see you at all, boy. Sick or something? Anyways, based on the NSA's operatives' reports, a new underground resistance army, the Vatra (meaning Fire in Croatian, BTW) is rebelling against their government. They - the gov't - are asking the United States for help on this matter. They send the BCTC, CIA, NSA, & Army to Croatia to help out the cause. Every BCTC & CIA operative, unless on leave, have to enter the country before our Army's assault. You are not on leave, I am not...hopefully we get out of this situtation alive. CIA employee David Springfield will be in charge of all CIA agents; a man named Jim Holliday will be in chage of us. Get your camo on, this is gonna be a long trip.
-Trez

...and the reply...
To: rtrezkya@bctc.gov
De: vmarbourough@bctc.gov
Subject: Re: Vatra
Roman,
I was busy assisting the weapons cargo department with the metal objects we call guns. I get to carry a nice weapon: Glock 9mm. They'll give you one, too, I bet. We'll be off by sometime in about two weeks, I presume, so get ready, Trezkya!
Vinnie M."

It is loosely based off of Kola (the protagonist is still the freakin' same!) as in spies going around, mercenaries, etc. Except for one thing: it is set in Croatia. Thanks to iGoogle Translator and my ability to impersonate voices, I can speak Croatian in this game. If anyone is confused, Roman is a friend of yours who is a Croat immigrant and, in fact, warns his family on danger in one level. This game will have an unspecified number of levels (broken up into parts) but I'm shooting for around 4-8 per part.

SCREENS DO NOT SHOW FINAL PRODUCT QUALIY

^The light in this screen needs changing; didn't realize what the skybox was^

Read the story and rate the screens, and leave a comment. Also, please take into consideration that absolutely no flaming is allowed!! If I see any, I will alert a mod to it. They are watching every thread, ready to slap/ban. Remember that.

might try turning the ambience down a bit more, to give the lights some more effect.
and you might want to add some more entities to that room, it looks a bit bare with just a couple pipes, a barrel, and the grate thingys (for lack of a better term).

Thanks for the input, guys. I will turn down the ambience and add more objects.

However, my Internet is currently acting up so I won't be able to get any screens up till later. Sorry, guys.

Well the story sounds cool, is it based on a historic event? (I hate history). The screenshot is a little bland but looks alright. I suggest adding a little bit more for the screenshot, work on the lighting, the wall entities...
Question- What genre is the game going to be? (Doesn't look like a horror if that's what you're going for, my guess would be an army vs army game.)
How far along are you in this game? How many levels?
How difficult is this game?
Does it involve any puzzle-solving?
Will is be free or a commercial game?

So far it looks alright, looking forward to playing it.

I will answer all of your questions so they won't be asked again...

1. It is not based on a historical event; I made it up myself.
2. I'm aiming towards an FPS game: shooting, killing, and blood.
3. I'm not that far into Automatic, it's still a WIP (hence the title). I've only got a small portion of level 1 done.
4. I really don't know the answer to that, but I'm hoping to have the commandos be at an intermediate difficulty.
5. This game may not have any puzzles; I am not so sure.
6. It will be freeware.

Due to its early version and myself waiting for v2, I will work on level design, voiceovers, etc. until v2 arrives. When it does, Automatic will bump up to v1.0, making it official.

I may release an environmental demo of a countryside soon, so don't fret about me not releasing a demo then.

I still think you need to learn to make custom media. That screen doesn't have any defining factor, it just looks like a filler room.

Pardon my asking AI, but did you get permission from a moderator to post this? I'm sure FredP said it was neccesary before you made another showcase thread.

Maybe you should've waited until you had atleast level one completed before posting this.

Best,
Paul

Hmmm... Well, I think you need a few more entities. The room looks a little bland. I also agree with everyone else in the fact that you need better ambiance. Hope you finish this one.

The screen shows nothing really. The weapon reload animation takes up a good bit of the screen. Is that supposed to be the focal point or something? We don't need to see weapons... we've already seen them...

As for the screen, let me guess, it's a warehouse It isn't showing much at all. Just a corridor with some stock media... You should make a new segment and get some better pictures. Turn the ambience down and get a piercing, cold light shining down on the player...

I'm sure I read that V2 hadn't even been started yet. I suggest you just make the game in V1 else you games just gonna grind to a hault. That statement above is already sounding like your other threads. Why are you waiting for V2 when V1 is perfectly good to make a solid game?

Trust me, all of you will apologize for treating me unfairly during my game-making after my demo is released (not really, ).

Uh, I suppose you didn't read that I'd be working on levels & make an environmental demo while my Internet is dead? That's technically making the game.

Not really. Your going to make some designs and then wait for the migration. The fpms might not even be compatibal with V2 so yeh, just to give you the heads up.

New screens pl0x.

The brown lights are outside light sources (they'll be changed to pale blue because I thought the sky was "sunset"). The inside light sources are fully shown; are you perhaps blind? j/k

My Internet died again, but once it gets fixed (in a few minutes) I will upload a couple screens I took. I make progress when I listen to music on the family's MP3 player. Nothing feels like a motive to kill like Trans-Siberian Orchestra's "Wizard of Winter".

None of that made a bit of sense.
I'm sorry but if I could comment on the game...
um, finish it. And yes, I have finished a game before.
I plan to make the re-make of it to grace the forum.

No offense to AI, but it seems that every project it has some excuse for him not to post any screenshots, then he makes a new game.

I can make some overlays for you, like rubbish, oil splats, etc. if you want.

Looks very good, but some rooms are empty.

But it looks good, and not every room in real life has alot of items. If that warehouse building is abandoned or something... WE DON'T KNOW..!

Why you hate history? I like it alot, and most of games is based to some historical event, like WW2. So... Do you hate ww2 games??
