Ahh...it's almost the end of this decade, whatever it was called ( I heard it was called the Naughties in the UK...yeah...). Does anyone else remember 1999? I mean obviously a lot of you older folks will, but I'm talking the ones who are still under the age of 19 or so...

Happy 2009! What have I accomplished this year, let's see... I've woken up and had a shower, and cleared my nostrils of mucus a couple of times.

I have off for the next 3 days!!! Woot!!

I honestly wish all of you a Happy 2009! I've come to know (forum wise) many of you for a long time. Some I have just recently met. I've had my fare share of struggles, highs and lows, I've seen a lot of things change; even this community goes through changes.

But what remains constant is the generosity of the people here who are always willing to help, give advice, always willing to welcome you back, always willing to point out all of your mistakes (hehe).

But seriously, I am so grateful that I found this community so many years ago. I thought I was purchasing a programming language. What I got was way more than I expected. And it's something that could never be placed on the box but has turned out to be the best feature of DarkBasic.

Regardless of where my life has been, I always had a group of people here to help me ride out the waves, turn me on to new music, turn me on to new apps, helped me understand some aspect of programming or art related knowledge, and sometimes just to make me laugh. Well alot of times you have made me laugh. I'm sure if I met most of you, or lived nearby, we would be instant friends (and perhaps some of you I wouldn't be able to tolerate for more than 2 minutes, so maybe it's best that this is a forum. lol). So from my family to yours... Happy 2009 to the Forum and all the TGC staff!

Best memories of 2008
- Coming back to TGC and programming after a long break.
- Finding out about the stimulus check
- Making a few new friends
- Getting a new job for 2009
- Kicking off the year right with NaGaCreMo '09

I'm confused why we are already celebrating the new year when at this time there is nowhere in the world where it is 2009 .

I have a whole day to wait, YA PARTIES!

This really is a wonderful forum, filled to the brim with some of the best people I've come to know on the internet. I'd love to hang with some of you, someday that'll happen I guess if we all show up to the con. But, (ramble) this has been a great year and I'm so very happy to be a part of TGC, lets share this new year with some randomness.

I'll say happy new year, though it's still 2008. Happy New Year.

My new years resolution is to get a job whilst I'm at Uni. I didn't last year, all I've got is work during my holidays, just covering people who are on holiday themselves. It doesn't get me much money.

And I suppose to do my own student night at the new Heavy Metal night-club opening up in town (to replace the one that closed over the summer) to raise some money for charity and get myself DJing something. Alongside sorting out a few nutcases.

@bergice

Wow, you country has a really low resolution landscape. You should tell your leaders to make some higher res textures for the terrain with some normal maps, and maybe place some mesh layers around to break it up a bit. At least you guys have a better skybox than us in the U.K ours is just gray, we do have good environmental effects though such as rain.

Happy new year to all.

(because nobody ever remembers the lyrics)

Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and old times since ?

CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely you’ll buy your pint cup !
And surely I’ll buy mine !
And we'll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

CHORUS
We two have run about the slopes,
and picked the daisies fine ;
But we’ve wandered many a weary foot,
since auld lang syne.

CHORUS
We two have paddled in the stream,
from morning sun till dine† ;
But seas between us broad have roared
since auld lang syne.

CHORUS
And there’s a hand my trusty friend !
And give us a hand o’ thine !
And we’ll take a right good-will draught,
for auld lang syne.

CHORUS.

Ah, reflections. Well, nothing much, really, although I'm proud to say that I aced all my grades at the game design & development study I'm following. Besides that, celebrated my two years together with my girlfriend and almost at two-and-a-half. It's been a turbulent year in the personal sphere, a year of growth as far as game design is concerned. I've turned 20 this year & it's been a good year.

New Year's 8 hours away where I'm at, but seeing I most likely won't visit TGC for the coming hours, I wish for all whom it still applies to a spectacular and happy last few hours of 2008, and a happy 2009.

Happy new year from the UK (50 mins late)

Me went to pub with me brother and a friend, so we got some drinking. Though we did have some weird girl come up to the bar ordering some weird looking cocktail that looked like Strawberry milkshake and appeared to try chatting me up...for me 2009 is a crazy girl in the bar, no way.

Though saying that, I finally got to play the PS3 we've had for a few days properly (previously all I got to do was play the first level of Little Big Planet), we've got Mirror's Edge and I've been playing it, it's quite fun. I've heard people complain that the controls are hard - my sister being one of them - I found them really easy to get to grips with - yeah a few falls, but that's the fun of it.

Happy new year!

I've been recording all the fireworks on my semi-pro mic. A whole hour of it. Don't really know why, might find a use for it someday.

I've done the same to a lightning storm. I like to collect sounds apparently.

No. Over here it's Big Ben, or the Edinburgh Castle firing it's cannon...or both if you can switch channels quick enough...
