Hey people,

I've got an Intel Core 2 Duo, 2.33Ghz, E6550. A GeForce 7300SE, 512 MB. 1GB RAM, Windows XP. My computer should, theoretically, run Assassin's Creed, PES2009 and other games with the recommended configuration, accordingly to "Can You Run It?" and the specs mentioned in the game box.

However, those two games runs terribly slow. Assassin's Creed, with everything in the low or removed, is unplayable at that speed. And PES2009 is playable, but everything in the low. And there are many slowdowns in-game.

Could someone help me here? Maybe my processor or my RAM is the problem? Thanks for the information and attention.

The problem should be your video card. I tried with my old computer that had an ATI x1650 pro, which is way better than the 7300SE, and still I couldn't run the game, it was slow.

Can Your Run It and games documentation state that GeForce 7300 is supported. I just updated my DirectX and NVIDIA drivers, but everything is still slow.

'Supported' generally means its CAN run it. If you want it to run smoothly you should go for the recommended specs.

GeForce 7300 is a fairly low range card, though it may have the right amount of MB, it isn't high for performance. Assassin's Creed is one of those games that requires a decent mid-range or high-range card. I'd recommend a GeForce 8600 or a 9500, I'm sure they're not all that expensive.

Like draknir_ said, running it doesn't necessarily means running it well, usually look for something above minimum specs, rather than either 'just below it' or 'just within it'. Unless you're willing to comprimise performance.

Plus not all games are perfectly optimised for all configurations, somethings run slower than they should on some systems.

It probably shows as "Minimum Requirements"
The NVIDIA 7300SE is an entry-level GPU, intended only for business application useage. In-Fact the main issue with them and the ATI 1250 LE is that their Vertex Shader units are omitted.
Forcing the CPU to handle it.

GeForce 8600GT 512MB - $51
(or GeForce 9400GT 512MB - £50)

Radeon HD 3650 512MB - £45
(or Radeon HD 4650 512MB - £51)

Basically the price of a game you can have a reasonable mid-range Graphics card.

Yes, i know that. However, Assassin's Creed recommended specs have met my specs perfectly, but the game in the low configuration, with lot's of disabled settings, is still very slow. Unplayable, to be honest.

I will look more on my video card, and maybe, buy a better one. Anything you guys would recommend? A cheap one, but better than mine. I don't have too much money right now to spend on video cards, unfortunately.

It could not hurt to get 1 more gig of ram for your computer too, 1GB is usually not enough to run games at high settings as XP takes 512MB's to run.

With that you will be able to run nearly everything on full (- crysis and farcry 2 which you will have to run on medium), And memory intensive games such as the total war series will run alot better.

CPU: AMD X2 6000+ 3.0ghz GFX: NVIDIA BFG Geforce 8800GTS 640MB OC-550mhz core RAM: 2048mb

It's rather nice how you can get such nice cards for so little. Personally I look for deals on higher-end (more serious) gaming cards, but that's still a nice card you got there Claws.

That's true. In fact, it may even beat the 7600GS. The 6600 was a great card for it's time. Too bad I only had mine 3 months before it brok (got it free from my brother for my birthday, used)......

Here in Brazil, unfortunately, even cheap cards are expensive. Too many governmental taxes, customs, and so on. I got the 8600GT for R$360. That's approximately $153.

Recommended minimum hardware requirements:
Quote: "Windows Vista Home Basic
800-megahertz (MHz) 32-bit (x86) processor or 800-MHz 64-bit (x64) processor
512 megabytes (MB) of system memory"

Yeah. I'm using an 8600GTS and it works great, I think it was only like $30 or so.

I used to have a 7950GX2, but it went POOF.

I also use an 8600gts, but I paid about $130 over a year ago. It's a fine card I think.
