I think the thing that annoys me about programs like American Idol is that it's always "America this" and "America that". And the people that too deluded to realise they are talentless.

American Idol sickens me, and all I've ever seen is the commercials.

That shows how bad it is because of how quickly you judge it!

I completely disagree with that. We all know you hate America and their patriotism but even though the show is extremely dumb, there are always a few very talented singers on the show.

Ugh. It's on right now and my mom's watching it so I can't change the channel. But it's not all bad. Some hot girl in a bikini is performing right now.

You have no right to make the assumption that I hate America, because I don't. And yes, they do have a few very talented singers. I was talking about the attitudes of the not-so talented. But yes I do hate moronic patriotism (though I don't think all patriotism is bad).

There's a big difference between America (country) and Americans (me) and that distinction should be made when regarding Banjoman's hatred.

Not really, the Americans are what make America. Americans = Loud, cocky, and overly patriotic. Benjamin doesn't like patriotism (to an extent) therefore I find that he doesn't like America. And having been to France I've found that every French person doesn't like how we talk because we're very loud and get very close to people lol. Though I do admit I misread his post which I'm very sorry for.

Sorry if I sound rude... probably the worst day of my life today. Just about anything is going to make me snap.

so... by that, you mean I am loud, cocky, and overly patriotic? I think people everywhere focus on the bad in everything. Sure, there are dumb Americans all over the place, and a lot of people in this country have sorta lost the point. However, there are those of us who havnt, and because we are not as loud, cocky, and overly patriotic, we tend to not be in the news. Its the idiots who get the spot light, cause thats what people like to see, dont ask why.

EDIT: and my views on American Idol, they can all just go stuff it
When that show started becoming popular, everyone was talking to me about in school, but I never had the time. I would listen to their conversations about it, and it didnt really sound like much. A lot of the people who actually liked the show, I really wasnt pals with, and people I were buds with, hated it. So to be completely honest, I have NEVER watched more than 30 seconds of American Idol, but from what Ive heard, and those 30 seconds I saw, American Idol is the work of EVIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIL!

I don't literally mean every single American is that way but I've found the majority of them are. I'll be honest, I'm one of them lol. It's just a stereotype.

Never watched American Idol, but my house-mate watches X-Factor, thus I have seen a few episode, it usually hurts, with some of the bad singers - there are some people with good voices, the rest deluded that they're good. Some of the talent is just going into something too 'made' and too 'plastic', so the songs and music doesn't do their voice justice (nor does the program). It's also annoying that X-Factor participants get so much more recognition than other people, noticed how many Christmas number 1 have been X-Factor entrants, hence this year people tried to Rick Roll the Christmas number 1.

If people on the program have 'talent' then I think the program restricts it too much.

Jenkins, you're over generalising a bit. Hating moronic patriotism is not hating America, unless you're assuming America is moronic. (as it's the 'moronic' part he seems to hate)I can see where Ben is coming from, 'patriotism' is only one part of America and being American, 'moronic patriotism' applies to even less, he is not being bigoted or hating America, even by an indirect route. Think of it more like 'not hating patriotism', but hating 'morons', if you hate morons, then you're going to hate people for taking something like 'patriotism' to a moronic level

Though 'moron' is rather subjective.

Yeah, you and all the fourteen year old girls here in Utah.
He's always on the radio here now. I don't know if it's because he's from Utah or if he's really that popular now. I assume it's the latter.

It always brings out the best in a country... Just like Britain's Got Talent... It proves that Britain really doesn't have talent... Does the US have "America's Got Talent"?

Yup, it proves that we don't. I think I heard that there is "America's got talent".

I did watch a few episode of Britain's got talent, after all my house mate's uncle made his appearance on the Birmingham lot, for literally half a second. (Perhaps you should have gone Bozzy, maybe you would have met him From my house mate's description, you probably wouldn't have wanted to)

Though what gets me on these programs, these bloody sob stories - I know people have their troubles, but is appearing on a TV program that just about anybody getting on going to do their sob stories proud, to me it's more attention seeking and these programs milk it, because it gets ratings - sob stories also mean they get some of the sympathy vote.

NOOOOOOO!!!!

I said that because I had about 3 paragraphs written and I pressed a button and it all got erased!

1). Last year I liked David Archiletta better. I didn't like the songs he sang but his voice rather. I think he makes a good pop singer.

2). Deal or no deal is awesome.

3). People have diffrent attitudes and opinions about T.V. shows , games , and everything else. You have people who like sad storys because they like to feel their emotions. Then yoyu have people who hate it because they don't like to feel the urge to cry. Then you have people who like Horror because of the thrill. Then there are the people who hate it because they have nightmares or whatever other reason. But you cannot hold people to their opinions. Their going to feel what they feel. I myself like the bad singers (not their voice) but I like them because its funny to watch them sing so badly and then it shows the Judges faces. lol. You have to have a sense of humor.

4). Now my favorite Comedian (Eddie Izzard) comes from Britian. And He's pretty funny. And I like how the British people talk. I don't know why I just do. If the French don't like the way Americans talk then thats their problem. I couldn't care less! Because that is their opinion and I cannot alter it.

5). I think the covers most of it.

It's not that, I am in touch with some sad stories and do like them, some can be quite uplifting, when when they're true it can just have that added effect, I don't normally tell people, but there have been some sad movies that have made me cry. But sad stories on these programs seem to be a fad and it's something that seems milked and kind of removes what makes it special, it seems everybody has to have a problem in their lives that fuels their performance, the chances are that it isn't, but they like the attention. Which I think is no reason to show a sad story.

If sad stories are treated like a fad, then they kind of lose their meaning and also their respect.

As far as bad singers go, I have found myself amused, I'll admit that does have its entertaining side to it, especially those who delude themselves or are too arrogant.

But your tastes in comedians, Eddie Izzard, I love the bloke. If you like intelligent, yet mad British comedians, another one you may wish to check out is Bill Bailey, he can be hilarious. Some of his jokes can be quite subtle.
