MSN has created a new thing called MSN groups. If you download the latest version of Windows Live Messenger, you'll see it as an option.

All MSN/Windows Live Messenger users here are now expected, nay. Required to join the TGC Users group (and update their messenger clients). We can then spam each other and otherwise have some fun. We can chat online with each other (via messenger), post photos, files, etc.

http://tehcodez.groups.live.com/

We want you.

That is all.

I demand that everyone upgrades their Windows Live Messenger (also known as MSN), as the latest version is far superior to the previous versions. Which isn't really that hard to imagine but this is Microsoft.

The UI seems to have taken a more simplistic route, and the contact list is more compact and somehow more logical with its use of colours to denote user status. And it's just better.

And I cannot stand the new messenger. It is evil!

I've used aMSN for a year, didn't like it that much. Miranda however is just up my alley. I'm not switching from that even at gunpoint.

Check it out, has multiple protocols, extremely configurable and has plugins for every occasion.

speaking of the new msn, has anyone worked out the msn scenes? i figured out how the cropping works, but when it comes to scaling, my pictures sometimes get pixelated and i cant tell why :S

Joined, and the new MSN is great. The UI is much cleaner, although I can't say it's easier or faster to use, it has some nifty features and addons, like the ability to show each other pictures without having to send them as a file, and the fact that you view each others' backgrounds and header in the conversation window instead of your own.

Am I the only one who cannot stand looking at it? For some reason my eyes just hate how it looks... which is too bad, because it sounds like it got a few nice features .

Ugh, amsn just kind of sucks. It's the best linux has though, for an msn clone

Anyways, I've never noticed MSN messenger to be anything but well behaved. Only problem I ever had was issues with accepting certain file types, and a-patch clears that issue up. At least, it did with the old version, a-patch needs to play catch-up with the new version

Why does aMSN suck? The default interface? It can be changed to looks even just like the windows version. I dont need any extra features msn offers because they are sucky anyways. Also aMSN offers some useful plugins. I dont see what is wrong with it.

The best MSN client for Linux, in my opinion, has to be emesene. Check it out at http://www.emesene.org/

Ok, I signed up and got this:

Your membership request is waiting for owner approval. Once the owner approves your request, you can view and participate in the group!

I was under the impression it was a public group? This kinda hinders that.

Ye, unfortunately I can only make it invite only or by admin approval, there's no public option. That's probably for the better, anyway.

Um, ok, some more bad news, apparently we're soon to reach our limit for members, and now if we want more members, we have to turn off 'group chat'... which is like, the only reason to use this

We can take up 2 more members, then we will disable new members from applying until microsoft ups their limit.

Everyone should write to microsoft and tell them to allow more members into group chat.

You can send your feedback here:

https://feedback.live.com/default.aspx?mkt=en-us&productkey=WLGroups

You can send this message if you like:
Quote: "
Hello. You guys should up the limit for the maximum members before group chat is turned off.

We're well aware that a chatroom with more than 20 dudes is hectic. We *want* that. If members don't like it, they can leave.

So please make the member limit unlimited!

Without this feature, we find Live Groups to be pretty useless "

lol. I keep both skype and msn open 24x7. When I play games, when I'm working, whatever. I've never noticed any slowdown. It uses almost no cpu. As for memory, it doesn't have a memory leak, it never crashes. It might use relatively a lot of memory, but that's a 10 dollar fix. (Just buy an extra stick)

I'd not buy MSN, no. I also don't generally rely on IM programs to improve the performance of my PC.

God I just made a complete mess of things. Turns out I added this group on the wrong account (because apparently without me knowing I have the same hotmail twice with .co.uk and .com ending) so I had to leave and enter with the right address, and when I reapplied first time I clicked the cancel request button by accident, because I was stressed out and not paying attention :S Go me.

I removed a couple of users. One of them is universally disliked and I thought there's no point him taking up a slot, and the other couldn't get WLM installed. I messaged you about this. I also thought about removing that Jerico2Day person but I thought he looked important so I left it.

I can't log on with the new WLM, all I get is a stupid crash that I haven't been able to find any fix for (all the fixes out there didn't work out for me) I'm pretty sure its because my OS hates me.

Either its that, or Ben somehow blocking me out so I can't join the group <_< Who knows!

Are you a woman? I am told that only women can multi-task like that, though you could be a remarkably well trained man, if that's the case, if the battle of the sexes ever does turn into nuclear war, we could do with a man like you on our side.
