***"NEW SCREENSHOT"***

More Screenshots of the last level on Venus. This level involves lot's of jumping, and lot's of sniping. This level is very unique to the other levels previous.

This is the first room, a little more detailed and much better looking then the one I made last night.

A little note on the falling liquid metal. I originally had a decal, but it ran WAY too fast. The only way I could make it look good, is how it is. The game is way different when playing, screenshots always change things...

very cool. This is one of the reasons why FPSC needs animated textures.

@Dar13- Yes. Yes it does. But I have found a couple ways to make an illusion that works very well.

Wow, love the new screenshots! They're just full of style! Reminds me of some older Unreal Tournament levels, almost. The falling lava texture doesn't look TOO bad...just stretched. Perhaps add a decal splashing lava at the bottom? (I know there was splashing water on FPS Free...perhaps you could modify the texture to look like lava?)

Very well done!

Looks and sounds very, very good - at the moment.

Quote: "Check out the frame rate!"

That's the frame rate now, but add a good amount of characters and it's going to drop faster than ten tonnes of iron.

But, I must say that the layout is excellent - everything is positioned perfectly.

Actually, that is with enemies. They are spawned through trigger zones. In addition, there are huge rooms all connected to eachother, which is why I said that, because fpsc lags like hell when there are multiple large areas.

Last word on the "lava" in image. I want to get Venus over with and start on the true game.I will come back and cleanup all these levels after I'm done.

The whole point of "venus" is for storyline and training purposes only. What you learn about the venus's contribution to other planets in the "3500 universe" has nothing to do with what happens aboard the ship.

You'd be better off just using the regular lava texture on the "falling" pieces, and then using the liquify tool from photoshop (or the smudge tool from GIMP if you don't have photoshop) to make it seem like it is running or flowing. At the moment, it really does look too stretched.

Other than that though, top work, really impressive stuff.

@Paul112-I made it with the regular lava texture as the water fall, and it looks really bad. Also, I did try the smudge tool in GIMP, but that makes it look low quality, and almost like its frozen in time.

@dumpus-I can help you too, aside from the "lava", I can make very good textures...

I wonder if you could keep the lava as it is but add some kinda semi transparent decal in the front (steam/smoke or something ) to kinda mask the stretched look..

I know everyone is complaining about the lava. I tried putting dynamic lights to make it pulse, but it doesnt work. I dont know. I need to make a demo to show what its like when you are playig it. A matter of fact, Im going to make ONE room, without a winzone just to show off my lava texture. So wait one minute.

EDIT: Building game now...

HERE IT IS.

there is no hurtzones, so feel free to fall in to look.

Hello again, it's been a while, been busy...

I've changed the beginning of the game slightly, making a different level for the beginning. So instead of just starting on Venus, you start on your pirated Irthan battle cruiser, and learn the controls and puzzles. Then, you go to Venus...

@Dumpus-Re-email me. I lost my contacts when I "upgraded" to W7"

@Anyone- I have this big ugly empty room, that I dont know what to do with. Its size and height must stay the same. Its part of the turtorial that plays as the user progresses through the level.

What kind of tutorial is it? Huds come on the screen telling you how to move around, etc? If this was the case, I'm sure you could find some sort of puzzle to be solved, or target practice or something.

Look nice, though!

Don't just map out rooms randomly just because you need them. Like a real spaceship each room will obviously have some sort of purpose. What do you learn in that room?

You are correct "butt Monkey".

In this room, you learn that when you are near open electrical wires, your muscle Armour can use it to increase performance in your jump height, as well as it heals "fractshure", the special stone your suit is made of...

The next room shows that-ish.

You learn that you can survive harsh drops, and to heal, there is a few computer terminals, with electrical battery fuses on top, that will fix the "fractures" in your "fractshure" armour...
