I was wondering what people thought of having a chess tournament on TGC. You wouldn't win anything unless someone donates something, but I thought it would be fun. Maybe even we could have an avatar for the winner or something. Start having a tournament every year or something.

What do you guys think?

Help me answer these questions to:

1. Are you interested in having a Chess Tournament?
2. If so put your name ___here____
3. What would we use to play the games?

Chess is only fun if you are with mates in the same room.
I suggest you get some.
Online chess would just be no fun whatsoever.

I never got the point of playing chess online. What's to stop a bad loser from whipping out a chess program to input all his moves?

I played it way back in the day when i first got the internet, think it was on yahoo's online games with my good old AOL 56k connection ^-^

Wouldn't play it anymore unless i could make drastically big gestures in front of the opponent when i win lol. just like out of purepwnage if you've ever seen it.

I love playing chess online. Its no different than playing it in real life... At least to me.

I've been wanting to make an online chess game. Physics based, without any rules coded - you just move the pieces around the board with the mouse.

However, unless you want to wait a year for me to get around to it, i suggest something else. We could play on Facebook but i don't know if we all have accounts.

Ah, the good old days of playing chess with someone half a continent away .

If you find a program, I'd play.

Actually I guess I meant "If you decide what program to use for the tournament and get enough entrants, I'd play."

Well as of now, you and me are the only entrants...

I'd bet my yahoo account still has a decent standing on that... but it's been 10 years since that 10 year old beat me in under 2 min.... I lost my pride, will to play, and honor...

joking aside, it sounds neat, why not make a competition related to chess games? We all know the rules, what the pieces are, and that the BFG can own all the pieces.

I'm unable to participate currently. Without most appliances at the moment, landlord 2 is having issues and I'll be busy moving. Should I get free time, I will attempt something.

Can't everybody play on fics? I have an account on there.

I will play if you get a tournament going but I suck wholly and totally at chess.

I used to play chess on the old MSN Zone a few years back, but since MSN Zone closed down, it's been a while since i've played it online. I'd definitely be up for some games if we get anything going.
