You may remember that I recently made a thread about my new computer hardware blog. Immediately after I created it, Jerico2day offered to turn our two separate blogs into one, and since I realized my blog would be no match for his, I surrendered. It became PartPicks.com

Part Picks contains a collection of articles explaining the different components of all kinds of computer hardware, as well as reviews on computer products. In the future we will also offer budget-build lists, which arrange a certain set of parts within a certain price, with an easy to click link that will take you to a website for purchasing. You will essentially be able to choose a price range and see what kind of power you can get within that budget. Right now we focus on articles, as well as blog posts that describe our own experiences with the hardware we've used and continue to use.

I also want to mention that we are open to user submitted questions, which we will possibly answer on the site publicly. If you have a question about computer hardware, post it here and we will see about getting it on the site.

That said, please take a look at our site. The site is targeted at users anywhere from beginners to somewhat computer-savvy PC builders. I hope you'll find something interesting to read, even if you already know how everything works.

Very nice, reviews are descriptive and well laid out, and the website design looks pretty and professional. Nice job, I'll bookmark it.

Nice site, but the reviews seem to be a bit 1 sided. I didn't see any ATI recommendations nor AMD motherboard recommendations.

Nice site though. I enjoy reading it.

I think the PSU recommendations needs work. First, you stated how some companies mass produce inexpensive power supplies that have a high failure rate. Afterwards, you recommend several very inexpensive units. I think you should include a few statements as to why you think those are good quality units. I've never spent less than $50 on a decent one. Where's the Antec? Or Seasonic?

Your game performance info for the "NVIDIA XFX Geforce 9800 GTX+ Black Edition" is probably not very useful. You mention several games that function at 60fps+ at full settings, but you ignore the fact that several lower spec (and potentially chepaer) cards can achieve similar if not the same results (the 8800M GTS in this iMac can max BF2142 and GRID, for example, at 60fps+)

You really need some kind of actual comparison, or a 'heavier' game (e.g. Crysis)

Thanks for checking it out dab. You're right, it is a bit one sided right now, mainly because that is all we have at the moment. Jerico2day will be writing articles about ATI and AMD simply because he knows a lot more about them than I do. We hope to fill up the site with a library of information on all different kinds of parts.

I guess it depends on what you want. The site is mainly focused on budget-builders. There will be budget-build lists at higher prices that we will post for serious gamers, but as far as the articles go, we use lower-priced products for our examples. And even so, you can get a quality PSU in that price range. I just bought an excellent power supply for a friend (500W) that I still stare at in admiration. It was $29.95, and even could have possibly been $19.95, had I entered the promo code correctly (I think I had not signed up for the newsletter so the code did not work).....Also, some of the supplies I listed were Rosewill PSUs, a very reputable company known for their quality. But do not fear, Antec will come.

What? I did not ignore that at all:

Quote: "My gaming choices probably aren't as modern as many other gamers, but I certainly can testify that my gaming experience is almost always thrilling with this video card."

I also did include a very graphical game, Grid, on my list.

Thank you all for the comments, we appreciate the info.

That doesn't address the issue - it's not the fact they're not modern games (GRID is fairly modern for example) they're just not good games to justify for that card considering they can run at the same settings on lesser cards

What you say is very true. The point of my review, though, is to show what the card can run, not in comparison to other cards but simply what it can run. I'm not making a graphics card performance chart here, I'm just reviewing a product.
