ENCROACHMENT X10

You play the part of Nik Anderson (yes, I know ) a swashbuckling space pirate who discovers an seemingly abandoned space craft. Investigating it further (to see if you can 'find' anything of value) you find that it's not abandoned and the occupants have an agenda, which you must stop at all costs...

This is in X10 and very much in the experimental stages. Any advice on creating a good SciFi atmosphere would be appreciated (along with any scifi X10 models ), as scifi is not my strong point.

The 3rd screen looks amazing! Very nice work, and you've put Wizard of ID's new segments to great use.

Thanks.

I've always wanted to do X10 stuff but X10's previously been buggy with custom content (sorry Lee), but now it's at the stage where a decent game can be made.

I'm so jealous of u now Nuckydude, your level design is mind-bobbingly amazing.

really nice work, I wish my fpsc was working now just to try to get 2nd

Edit: btw how did u get the platforms so close to the floor level in the second screen? I've wanted to do something like that for a control room for a while

my taste in music isn't weird, its just so amazing your ears haven't quite adapted to it yet.

Just so you guys know, this is not for the scifi comp. I might have to pull out because the X9 version of Encroachment is extremely slow and I don't have half the stuff the X10 version has and X10 isn't allowed in the scifi comp.

This one looks really nice!
An advice would be having an orange light outside the window to shine in (the last picture) since the skybox is quite orange.

Other than that, great looking screenshots!

Actually, the last picture is the hanger control room that's behind the white light and windows in the first picture, so you're seeing the skybox from across the hanger bay.

Sweet screens, I've always found having huge machinery and plasma beams and such adds alot to a sci-fi scene. Flaunt the technology, make up some crazy stuff, give it a name, and you're done...

Yay, another X10 game ! Nice work Nickydude, I like the third screen, very nice skybox

My thoughts, use the Elite segment, I think it's one of the better stock segments (it's one of my favorites, works well just about anywhere ).
I'd lower the ambient light just a little bit to make the shadows darker and then crank up the bloom a some, but that's more out of personal taste.

A picture says a thousand words.

Wow I like it! The use of skyboxes is great!

I think FPSC X10 should have just been FPSC, only with DirectX 10 capabilities like it currently has. They shouldn't messed with the File Structure and other things.

Also they promised that you can view dynamic light mapping and physics IN the editor, which didn't happen. Oh yeah, and water too.

Here's a video on YouTube with the WIP of Encroachment (select 'HD' and then watch it in full screen). It's a bit jerky because of of the video capture software (FRAPS) I used but it's smooth when playing.

The video quality is "meh", probably bc my PC runs the video way too slow in HD

but dang, thats some good level design Nickydude
