I would go with cyberpower instead, though they are almost identical, cyberpower is more popular and supposedly has better customer service.

I would just build your own so you don't have to worry about DOA and warranty issues.

I don't know how to build my own and live in canada. Tigerdirect.ca is expensive. If I get all the crappy parts it is more expensive than Ibuypower

Not sure where in Canada you live, but in Vancouver there's tons of cheap computer places. I always buy my stuff from NCIX:

http://www.ncix.com

They have delivery options.

Unfortunately, you won't find much that's good at that price range, especially if it's in Canadian dollars. However, this looks pretty good:

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16883229067

And it's only a little more expensive than what you were hoping. If you go lower than that, you're pretty much going to be stuck with an on-board graphics card, which will limit your system when it comes to games and game programming overall.

You might be better off to build your own at your price range.

Yeah, but if you do go cheaper you can buy a graphics card. Probably not a very good one though.

The whole point of buying a computer with NCIX is you can pick and choose your own parts. I got my last 3 computers from them and chose exactly what I wanted.

Well I haven't technically built a computer at home myself in 10 years--- it's not fun for me.

But at NCIX I picked and chose all the elements--- video card, motherboard, RAM, case, monitor, etc. and paid them either $50 or $100 (I forget) to build the computer for me and give me a warranty. It was peace of mind for a small fee in my eyes, and I would recommend that. If you build it yourself and zap the motherboard, you will not be refunded as far as I know!

Its not hard at all to put a computer together.

Parts your going to need:

Motherboard
CPU
Power Supply
Case
Hard Drive
Disk Drive(Well, I guess not but its helpful)
RAM
Graphics Card(Depending on your motherboard)

Thats about all you need.

Motherboard & CPU- http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4396237&Sku=B69-2007 - $179.99

Power Supply - http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2227022&CatId=1079 - $53.99

Case - http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3570035&CatId=32 - $46.99

Hard Drive - http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1089592&CatId=8 - $46.99

Disk Drive - http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4137998&CatId=4 - $29.99

RAM - http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4222309&CatId=3432 - $79.99

Graphics Card - http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=4008556&CatId=3670 - $99.99

-----------------------------

Your Maximum - $590.00
Total Price - $537.93

Extra Cash - $52.07

*Not including Tax and Shipping and Handling and all that junk
*I also don't know if it was Canadian Money, I just went to tigerdirect.ca and wrote down the prices.
*Ehh, just read the Motherboard/CPU combo thing and it doesn't come with a cooling fan. So add this to your prices to if you want your cpu to last a while:

http://www.tigerdirect.ca/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=262455&CatId=99

Now that won't be the best computer in the world but it should be some what decent.

Anyway, hope it helps out a bit.

An 8600 GT video card said it needed 450 watts but the power supply I chose is 550 watts. Do I need 450 watts?

Your system will only use the watts it needs. Other devices need power too so the space 100w will be handy for extra hard drives, etc.

No, you would need *at least* 450 watts. Since you have 550 watts, you're fine. If you had 350 watts, you'd have to worry.

Hello? And I found another very cheap gaming pc and my dad just said "Wait". Why does he ALWAYS say wait for EVERY TOY (LEGO) AND EVERY ELECTRONIC I MIGHT GET? And sometimes when I have to wait the lego gets sold out forever.

EDIT: I decided to build my own. Here are the components:

Okay - I looked it over...

The link for the motherboard is a power supply.

The RAM and processor are both very high quality. I have that exact same ram and I got my friend that exact same processor and both are top notch.

Your videocard is WAAAY too weak. It is bottle necking your system.

I got a similar sony drive and it died on me (though it was vista that killed it, but that's another story). I got a samsung from newegg that had great reviews and I love it. Remember - Just because it says "dvd burner" means that it can still read disks!

You can get a 19" (bigger) monitor from dell for only 100$ that's higher quality and not refurbished and missing pixels.

But otherwise it looks okay. I wouldn't say you were ready to build your own, but it's your choice.

But it is the only nVidia 512 mg video card that doesn't take a lot of power.

Then upgrade the power supply so it can support a better one, or downgrade your processor. If you keep that processor and that video card, you'll be wasting alot of the power of the processor because the videocard can't keep up.

A 2.4 - 2.7 ghz dual-core would be fine for that card,

but if you want to match that processor with that card, get a 9800/8800gt at the least, but I would recommend diving into the low-end of the 200 series, or a 9800gtx.

And a better power supply to support it. If you can't afford those, cut back on the processor.

A dual core sucks so much and isn't future proof. I need to get something future proof like a quad so I don't have to keep upgrading because my dad doesn't like that. Anyways, that is the cheapest quad core is the cheapest.
Also, I need to run FPSCX10 in mid or high settings. And of course, I want to try LeadWerks.

Well I found a cheap and good triple core: http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103295

A dual core would be fine and it would let you run the latest games, as long as it was above a 2.6. The VIDEOCARD is the thing that will mostly determine what settings you can run your games at as long as it matches your processor.

Most programs aren't even dual-core compatable. Multi-cores in general are very new, so you shouldn't go for a quad-core if you are getting a very weak card like that.

Well if developers keep releasing games in the state that GTA4 was released, you'll want a quad core, as games that are ported from the XBOX will need 4 cores or more.

Isn't the 360 essentially dual core? I thought it was a tri-core PowerPC with one core dedicated to the OS.

nex - Yes, you are right.

GTA4 was horribly ported, so I think I can use that as an exception. It WAS optimised for the 360 and ps3, but they sloppily threw it onto the pc and it had all those problems.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130339
There is my current vidocard.
It says that you need a minimum power supply of 450 watts, and with the processor you have I would believe it.

My power supply is 750 watts - but I went overboard so I could upgrade easier in the future.

My point is, I don't think it'll be the exception. I think games will be made for the xbox and then ported over. Even a game like l4d can benefit greatly with a quad core.

At this point in time, core 2 duos are old-hat. Quad cores are where things are going. Right now, you can get away with a core 2 for the next year or two, but that's gonna be it.

I need help! Stop going off topic. My dad said I should save up my money build my own computer instead of save my gerbil. My gerbil is dying. And anyways, I don't think I will even get a new computer. He is so scared of the limited warranty and is scared if anything goes wrong he or I can't send it back and if I or him can, he will stop me or won't do it because he is soo fussy about shipping charge.
