I played this the other day after finding the link Excellent production, some crazy noise effects kept me on edge! I think the final boss fight could have been more challenging but overall, great game.

Crashed my computer twice when trying to play it. The things I did see looked excellent though (especially liked the cutscene in the beginning). Congratulations!

Played this game and I see a lot of work went into it.

I liked the game a lot but it was pretty buggy for me.

Cons :

1> Hud when you got hit by spider things was not transparent so could nt see where you where going.

2> Could walk threw the walls in the cave section.

3> Took a few goes because the game kept crashing near video section before loading.

Pro's:

1> Good speed no lag for me

2> Good idea and pretty original for scfi.

3> Great game play.

4> Good design.

I give this game a 7/10 due to the many issues with the game.

Best s4real

thanks for the detailed criticism on that, I know I still have a long way ahead. The collision issue in the cave is still investigated further. Maybe I better block with invisible walls next time.
The facehugger hud was realistic(you can't see while they hug your face so your best bet is to move around to "shake them off") but due to gameplay seems to be a bad idea. sorry for that.
The crashes seem to be a major issue. Didn't have them while testing on the machines I have at home, so I need more beta-testing the next time. I wonder if it is a codec problem or a bug with the engine...requires deeper investigation. Nonetheless it was a good experience making my first (mini-)game and I'm glad you liked it in the field of my core skills-Game design and Leveldesign

ive played it,very awesome tho i had a hard time getting out of that pit where you pick up the shotgun.the video probably crashed for other people beacause of codecs,it works perfectly perfect and yeah,if you fix a few bugs here and there and remove that spider hud and re-release it it would be awesome

Just played, Here's my little Review:

The Good:
-Nice level design, sections of the cave-like areas and inner base balance nicely
-Nice Cutscenes
-Fair Gameplay, would have liked maybe 1 other weapon to play around with
-Nice ending

The Bad:
-agreeing with S4real, that spider HUD scared the crap outta me
-I did have a few lag areas, but they were minimal
-The usual bugs, I stood up while going throu one of the vents, but that isn't your fault.

Overal I'd say about a 8.5/10, very fun game

my taste in music isn't weird, its just so amazing your ears haven't quite adapted to it yet.

if it would have scared you good-np. but today I think it is a little over the top; alien-conform but over the top.

I thought you rarely wander around a scenery where the guns just lie around here and there, but that is maybe just because I live in Europe.

Yep, I had fun shooting the scene...felt like scorcese lol.

Daarboven: From the screenshots you posted I see some good level design and no blurry textures or blocky models. The level design looked nice, especially the darkness. The shots remind me of Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil. Since this is the only FPSC game I see fully based in caves I was wondering if you could please direct me to some cave models and segments as I plan to make my horror game in a channel of unknown underground facilities and caves (not going to go in depth, for it will reveal my idea that I took a month making better).

Diabolic Soft, a name that will be placed in all of the games I produce.

I made the caves myself (who knows me better guessed already) with Sketchup (made use of the sandbox tools here). Then I cut openings the size of standard segments in it and exported it to .x with the xporter plugin for sketchup. After that, I made it FPSC ready with entity workshop.

This actually was a great game. I haven't played alot of FPSC Games, but it must have been the best of 'em. You actually could make a second part cause I'm feeling myself stupid olaying the same game allover again.

Thank you again.
Not to dissapoint you, but if I make another game it will not be a sequel . Making "Silent Planet" was a great experience as how to get along with the different aspects of game design in a (for me) larger project but for my next game I'd like to take a bit of a different approach to both the storytelling and level design.

strange, everyones talking about the game crashing, but none of that happened to me...

anyway, i loved the lighting effects you used, but the ambient light could have been a teensy bit brighter.
the alien entities were awesome! where did you get them? and if you made them yourself, they are excellent.
more than one gun could have added a bit more variety to the game, but overall, i give it 9/10.

Just played it,

Well, my english is too bad to write a detailed test so:

The Good:

-Cool Intro Movie
-Loads of Custom Media
-Good Athmosphere
-Nice lightning

The Bad:

- Flying Lamps (Why on earth did you do that -.-)
- I can walk through the cave segments
- Handless default shotgun
- I can hear the triggers triggering enemys :S
- A bit too linear and Random. I mean, dumb enemys Ammunition and Healthpacks spread around everywhere.

Well, it wasn`t bad, really good for a contest. I give it 6/10

I really liked the demo. The cutscene intro and opening section of the level was very Aliens.

Can you elaborate on this a little. How do you cut segment size openings out of a cave in Sketchup and how to you make the cave?

Thanks

Shotgun looks sweet. Could you post better pictures? They're too dark and whenever I click on them, a pop-up leads me to some webcam porn site. Also, could you post a video? I can't download that many things that are WinRar archives because I have the Eval version of WinRar. Looks great though.

If you hadn't switched on the sandbox tools in Sketchup, go to
Window>Preferences>extensions and tick the sanbox tools on.
Now draw a new terrain from scratch and use the smoove tool to mould some elevation to it. When satisfied, select all and reverse faces so the white side is inside(your cave)and the blue is outside.
Now draw a square about the base size of your cave, import a nice rock texture on the squere, set it to 'projected'(yeah it stretches when you made the walls to steep) and copy it to the bucket and paint your cave from the inside.
for the cuts model a box and place it so that it partly inside and partly outside the cave. now select both cube and cave and rightMenue to "intersect selected". Now delete what you don't need from the box inside the cave as well as the wall where the box will meet the next segment. Last but not least resize the Model with the tape measure tool so the box side will measure 2,54cm when exporting with the free plugin.

Thanks for the information. I'll have to try this out.

The opening to your level really does remind me of LV-426.
