We have spent every hour of every day since we became aware of this infection researching, and we finally blew open the door on this enormous cover up. You will be absolutely shocked at what has been hidden from you.

Well, I suppose it's better than what I've been hearing from another website...I visit a blog full of insane individuals who...well, I don't want to break the AUP with their shenanigans, lets just say they're the kind of people who think because Michelle Obama is as tall as a man, therefore she is a man is adequate evidence for an argument.

Why I visit such blogs? Because that's how I get my kicks.

@Seppuku

Have you been reading the comments on youtube again?
Some of the beliefs, opinions and arguments out there make my brain fart itself out of my eye sockets. At the same time that is what people truly believe and the fact that we can all discuss such things so easily is one of the great things about the Internet.

No, but I used to...but I needed to find something new and more exciting...I'd link the horrific place where I get my new kicks, but the mods wouldn't be best too pleased, given the content and well, I wouldn't want to hurt people's brains. Why is it that I am so interested by some of the worst people on the internet?

Perhaps Fred Phelps meets the Youtube community and racism with an extra insult to all things good in this world and good intelligence is the best description.

What they said about the Swine Flu, it'd be innappropriate to even post that. Though they did make their own ham joke...but that too is inappropriate.

The internet is really a place where some of the worst people in the world can make themselves known. Reading your signature Soapy, why on earth would anybody want to create a ruleless forum with insane people out there?

Based on a discussion I saw on 'This Week', it doesn't sound as dangerous as other flus, yet. A lot of people fear it and it has killed people, but from my understanding you can get cured and it's not severly dangerous.

According to this news source: In Mexico 22 out of 1523 confirmed cases have died. (from 17hours ago)

Compared to other statistics to the flu; according to the CDC each year 5-20% of US residents get it, 200,000 people get hospitalised and 36,000 die.

At the moment, Swine flu doesn't sound any worse than the common flu. Though that does not mean 'don't see a doctor', if you got a bad flu, you'd see a doctor anyway and it's always best to be safe than sorry concerning viruses.

A mortality of 1.444% then. That's a little concerning and troubling, but then again it could be 98.566% worse. A lot less than you would think given the media's bother.

I don't get sick lest I eat peanut butter... or forget to eat protein when I have sugar, and otherwise am low on water when doing so.

In other words, I've never caught the flu, doesn't matter what "pandemic"'s going around, the last one (3 weeks ago) everybody had something, and I was surrounded by 'em (family, school, bus system...) but not a darn symptom.

Unfortunately I can't conclude anything based on the above, but that's my information for your benefit.

Regardless of whether or not this thing reaches where I live, I doubt I'll catch it. I haven't had the flu since 2nd grade, and I haven't stayed home sick since 6th. Aside from an occasional cold, I very rarely get sick.

Swine Flu is not just as dangerous as the regular flu, it's even more benign. The media is trying to make it look like the next Black Death, but it's all just a big load of bull ****. I just couldn't stop laughing when I heard what the Vice President was saying about it...

I'll delete that last sentence if a mod tells me it's too political.

Who is in power, views conflict as an opportunity for government expansion and, by use of scare tactics and the drive by media, creates false urgency and dependency?

The swine flu is not a problem. Leave it to the white house to pretend like they are doing something about it. Pandemic... LOL. The true pandemic is the lack of gray matter between the ears.

Silly Beemovie style video, backed up with no evidence/facts, so Ill supply some for you.

swine flu
swine - pig.

Your royal majesty

maje-sty
mage - wizard, they can do a 'trick' or two (this one is 'casting' /molding a form/ his 'spell' right now)
magi meaning (knowledge) from where we get magic, example, magistrate - straight knowledge
magi-sty
magi (knowledge) Sty (a pen for pigs)

majesty - one who has knowledge of containing pigs.
Now you know why certain classes call the lower classes oinks.

Killer Swine Flu.
A disease that potentially can kill lots of pigs.

Ring a ring o' roses, A pocket full of posies, A-tishoo! A-tishoo! We all fall down.

Bee seeing ya, oinkers.

No, what you're saying is the only big load of bull **** here. Common flu, or at least the other flu pandemics have had a mortality rate of <0.1%. Thus far in Mexico there have been 42 confirmed deaths and 1112 confirmed cases, this gives a mortality rate of ~3.8% which is 38.7 times worse at least.

Other differences include that humans have no natural immunity to this flu strain whereas for seasonal flu many people do. In addition, seasonal flu mainly afflicts people with weak immune systems(babies, elderly) whereas Swine flu affects young people who have strong immune systems. Guess what this reminds you of? Spanish Flu, this had a mortality rate of >2.5%(likely less than this) and killed 50-100 million people. We've come a long way since then in terms of travel and global population and so now, outbreaks are highly risky; this one's already spread to 29 countries in no time and you're saying it's a load of rubbish? Get a grip.

You can't both be right. One projects the mortality at 1.4% and the other at 3.8%. How can the amount of confirmed cases go down and the amount of deaths go up during a period of a few days?

Somebody is BSing. Both have provided a source for their data.

Looking around on sites, no two sites provide even remotely comparable data. I've seen figures from less than a percent to over twelve.

The World Health Organization shows 3440 cases with only 48 deaths worldwide as of 6:00 GMT today. 45 of those deaths were in Mexico.

That amounts to only 1.4% mortality rate worldwide as of now.

DarkCoder's statistics seem inflated because he used only the numbers from Mexico.

Lies, damned lies, and statistics.

I think that's closer to my news source, though my statistics too were from Mexico...it seems different sources like to say different things.

CDC say that 36,000 people in the US die from flu, if that is of any addition to the debate...unfortunately I did not cite my source and am having trouble finding it on google again and the CDC website isn't helping.

If that is true... it is way better then many other deaseases I could mention, including, say, ebola, cancer, the bird flu (or whatever it was called)... 3.8 % is not much at all.

The mortality rate is only part of the issue, how easily it can spread is the main one; if an infected person sneezes in some very stupid place at a train station then thousands of people can easily get affected. These thousands can then easily transfer it to thousands more, and by that time it's out of control and millions could have died. That's the reason why this isn't 'better' than either Ebola or cancer.

Actually, it's believed that if ebola got on a fully loaded 747 everybody on the planet would be dead in months if not weeks. I remember reading that somewhere. Thankfully it keeps burning itself out in the jungle.

Ebola happen to be one of the deadliest deaseses known to man, if not the deadliest. And to die of it... I rather die of swine flue, to be honest. Would save me a lot of pain.

If I get infected by swine flu there is a very small risk that I die and a very large risk that I survive, and that is what matters. What you are talking about is a mass effect, basically if you take any deases one can die from (no matter how low mortality rate) and infect enough people, a lot of people will die. That does not make getting infected more lethal, it makes so more people are among the unfortunate few to belong to the group that does not survive. Which is why I do not fear swine flu, even if I get infected I will have all odds to survive.

If it becomes a pandemic, then of course we should fight it and all, just like one should fight all deaseses like that (or that has the potential to become that). But it is not something to fear.

Besides, I heard someone on the radio. She worked with things like this, and said she was amazed by our reaction to swine flu, because in her opinion it means we are ready to deal with it (and then I do not mean the media, I mean the people that deal with sickesses and epedemics). Ok, I know that I have not seen any proof that she is right, but I haven“t seen any proof of the oposite either. Do not trust the media, it has been wrong too many times about these things for that.

But it's not as easily transmissible as swine flu which is the whole point I was making.
